If dream Chuck could find happiness maybe he could to. As strained as things had been with Blair lately, Chuck could no longer deny his feelings for her, act like they didn’t exist. So here he was, standing outside his limo in front of Blair’s internship waiting for her to appear, flowers in hand. Yes, he had gotten the idea from his dreams, it was the exact same thing he had done in them. But it worked there, it should work here.
Blair hadn’t really talked to Chuck since he’d come to see her at the hospital and she really hadn’t expected to talk to him. Sure he might leave the occasional comment on her posts on Valarnet, but that was the only contact they really ever had these days. She hated that he was so against them just because of the dreams. She hated that he was letting them dictate his life instead of letting his feelings do it instead. She didn’t understand what he was so afraid of. If she could admit her feelings then why couldn’t he?
Understandably, seeing Chuck standing just outside the office building, as she stepped outside, caused her to stop in her tracks, a small frown creasing her forehead and turning her lips down as she noticed the packages he was holding. Inhaling deeply, she continued walking until she was standing in front of him, “What’re you doing, Chuck?” As opposed to the last time they’d seen each other, this time Blair’s hair was perfect as was her makeup and she was wearing a brand new outfit that she’d bought to make herself feel better once she’d been allowed out of the house after coming home from the hospital.
Well, Blair certainly didn’t look happy to see him. He almost frowned in return but instead kept his usual smirk on his face. “Well,” he began stepping forward closer to her extending the flowers out to her. “i just wanted to give you these,” he replied smirk still on his lips as he took another step closer. “And to tell you, I love you too.” There. He did it. Something his father never thought would make him weak. Something Chuck never thought he would be capable of saying. But there it was. Now it was up to Blair.
Blair took the flowers and had been about to ask him what it was all about when Chuck spoke, catching her off guard. Those three words were ones she had wanted to hear for months now and ones she had not expected to hear. Now that he’d said it, she couldn’t help but stare at him for a moment or two before finally gathering herself, “Don’t say that unless you actually mean it, Chuck.” She didn’t know if she could take it if he was messing with her.
“You think I’d come all this way if I didn’t?” Or even say it. It was something Chuck struggled with both in dreams and real life. He didn’t take saying this lightly. Blair was the only girl he had said it to, ever even thought about saying it to.
She knew that Chuck didn’t do things that he wasn’t certain of, but hearing him tell her that he loved her seemed like something out of a dream. Not that that had happened in her dreams, but still. “No, you wouldn’t, but I needed to be sure.” She’d been wanting this for so long that that was all the reassurance she needed and closed the gap between them. Lifting her arm, she placed her hand against his cheek, eyes never leaving his as she leaned in and kissed him.
“I love you,” he said again before returning her kiss. Tender at first, then he deepened it pouring everything he felt into that kiss. If that didn’t make Blair believe it he didn’t know what would. He slowly pulled his lips away, arms wrapped around her. “I love you,” he said for the third time going in for another kiss.
Blair’s arms wrapped around Chuck’s neck as they continued kissing. She was pretty sure that now that he’d said it, she would never get tired of hearing Chuck tell her that he loved her. They were quickly becoming her favorite words that he’d ever said to her. Finally, reluctantly, she pulled back enough to take a few breaths, lips turned up into a smile, “I love you too, Chuck.”
For once Chuck smiled. A genuine smile. Not a grin or a smirk. For once, maybe the first time in Chuck’s life his was genuinely happy. But he was also still Chuck Bass. “Maybe we should take this back to my hotel,” he suggested gesturing at his limo.
Blair couldn’t help but roll her eyes at Chuck’s comment, but she was laughing as she did it, having expected some sort of comment like that from him, “Before we do that….are the gifts for me?” She glanced over her shoulder where one of Chuck’s hands were with one of the gifts he’d been holding when she’d walked up to him.
Chuck wasn’t all that surprised Blair wanted her presents before they got to the fun part. While he was beyond ready to get back to the hotel he could hand over the gifts first. Which were just macaroons from a shop in LA (not Paris like in the dreams) and flowers. He had opted out of the getting her stockings aspect. “Of course,” Chuck said handing them over. “I don’t do this for just anyone.” Just like he didn’t tell anyone he loved them. This was all new and scary territory for Chuck, but he was trying.
Blair loved gifts so of course she’d ask about them and she was not disappointed, “I would hope not.” She smirked at Chuck as she took the flowers and macaroons, her favorite kind of cookies. “But in all honesty, I couldn’t think of a more romantic gesture.” Okay so maybe she could, but as far as she was concerned this had been perfect. Leaning in, she kissed him again.
Chuck almost said ‘don’t get used to it,’ but refrained. He didn’t want to ruin the moment. Although romantic gestures really weren’t his thing. Instead he just returned the kiss, smirking as he pulled away. “So, my hotel?”
Blair would have had to come back with some biting retort had Chuck said that, but luckily he hadn’t so all was as it should be. “Alright, I suppose we can go back to your hotel now.” Blair still couldn’t quite believe that this was happening, but she was extremely happy that it was and in actuality also couldn’t wait to get back to Chuck’s hotel.
Chuck smirked holding the door open for her. “Our limo awaits,” he said waiting for her to get in before sliding in after her. This was going to be an amazing night, and maybe the beginning of something special.
