It had been the absolute worst weekend one could possibly imagine happening, unless of course your family was still alive. Then, Alleria supposed, you could add them dying all over again to it, and it would equal out to about the same.
Saturday night had been spent mostly not discussing The Incident, and when Sunday had rolled around, they'd prepared for their shoot without saying a word about it. But Monday was her day off from everything, and instead of going to the soup kitchen like she usually did, Alleria had decided to simply stay in bed.
She hadn't left it for breakfast, fancy coffee, or even lunch. Afternoon was casting warm light over the scene by the time she felt like she could even bother with being hungry. She was still too depressed to care.
Her heart had risen into her throat when that woman had walked through the door. She wasn't sure she could deal with the now crushing disappointment she was feeling, knowing that the person in question wasn't the one she wanted her to be.
Sylvanas was beginning to get worried. It had been embarrassing, sure. It was all over the tabloids, okay. But it had still just been a kiss. She hadn't thrown herself at the woman. Well maybe she had but clothing had stayed on. This, was why she swore off romance. It got too messy.
She cooked breakfast, and coffee. Then lunch. She was deciding what to do about dinner when she became fed up, and kicked Alleria's door open, "Get your ass out of bed."
"No." Came Alleria's muffled response. She was sprawled on her bed and staring at the wall, arms hugging onto one pillow, head smushed against the other one. She wanted a cigarette. It was a dirty habit of hers that she tried not to indulge that often, especially in front of her sister.
She didn't want one enough to summon the amount of fucks that would have to be given about smoking one to get out of bed, though, and had just kind of landed on the bed however she had after halfway getting up. Where she remained. Even now.
"You're fixing that door frame," She added, with a grunt.
Walking over to the bed, Sylvanas grabbed Alleria's leg and started to tug her off of the bed. She was going to get the woman out of bed if it killed one or both of them.
"You can't keep sulking every time that bitch comes up. Or her sister. She never SAID she had a sister!"
It was something that clearly bothered Sylvanas. You typically tell someone important to you about family like that. It clearly meant that Alleria meant nothing to her. She really would stab the bitch.
"Maybe she didn't know. Her sister looked pretty shocked and clueless," Alleria grumbled. Sylvanas was yanking on her leg, but she didn't want to leave the bed. Ever. So she dug her fingers in, and buried her face into her pillow a bit.
Maybe if she ignored her sister, her sister would go away.
"I guess. It's still wrong!" Hate was a strong emotion, and Sylvanas was beginning to feel it for Danika. It would be an emotion that will become increasingly familiar to her as dreams start to invade her waking life, but for now she was blissfully unaware.
She wasn't going away. Okay she was going away.
Five minutes later she was dumping a bucket of ice water on Alleria's head.
That was entirely unexpected. Entirely. Alleria yowled in a mixture of rage and surprise, then leaped off the bed and started brushing ice cubes out of her hair, "YOU LITTLE BITCH! I WILL SO GET YOU FOR THIS!"
A few of the ice cubes got tossed in Sylvanas' direction.
Laughing, Sylvanas dodged out of the way, "Only if you can catch me, you cold bitch!" Then she was racing out of the room like the hounds of hell were upon her. It was a tactic designed to get her sister out of her bedroom. And she hoped it would work.
The tactic worked, though Alleria would probably be back to brooding at any moment. Right that second, however, she picked up the bucket, scooped up ice cubes, and started chasing her through the house, pelting her sister with what could only be called deadly accuracy.
"And now my BED is all WET and freezing and it's YOUR FAULT! Run slower so I can hit you harder!"
"Ow!" Sylvanas laughed despite the pain, making it to a fortified position where upon she unleashed the full fury of siege weaponry. Pillows launched through the air at Alleria, followed by another bucket of ice!
Where did these buckets of ice keep COMING from? Sylvanas must have prepared all of this ahead of time, that devious, clever girl. Alleria was going to have to set something up that would make her sister seriously regret this later.
She held her up her hands to ward off the attack, then grabbed a nearby pot lid and held it out in front of her like a shield, warding off the ice as it launched through the air, "ENOUGH OF THIS VILE SORCERY!"
She had, and her plan was working perfectly. Alleria was out of bed, and active and maybe at the end of it all she might actually be laughing. Or so she hoped.
Or maybe they were just twelve.
"Are you going to stay out of bed?" Sylvanas retorted evenly.
"I kind of have to now, you splashed cold water all over it," Alleria snarked. Her pot lid was still raised in front of her, just in case there was to be another volley of ice water.
You could never be too careful!
Sylvanas was out of ammunition, save for one last throw pillow she bounced off the ceiling to try to hit her sister on the head.
"There's coffee waiting for you, leftover pancakes, and a leftover sandwich for lunch. Eat something, then we'll figure out what to do about this Danika situation."
Alleria allowed the pillow to hit her head and then giggled a bit, before setting her pot lid aside. Maybe she could find it in herself to be hungry enough for coffee, pancakes, and a sandwich.
But then of course, Sylvanas had to mention the Danika situation, and she got a bit nauseous as she poured herself some coffee. Her face fell, and she sighed, "I wish that woman had never walked into the shop. It would have been easier."
Hugging her sister from behind, Sylvanas murmured in her ear, "It would have been, but at least you know now. She's out there. We just need to nail her down."
For all her HATE, she still wanted her sister happy. Even if it was with the person she HATED. Or maybe the HATE was because of all that. It didn't matter.
Honestly, Alleria was beginning to hate the woman, too, as much as she still had feelings for her. She set her mug down and went about heating up some pancakes, "Isn't that Neena woman looking for her, too? If everyone goes after her all at once she'll either panic and hide further or... well we might be able to corner her."
It was like hunting quarry, really. Danika was a very, very timid and fast deer, or something along those lines. Maybe something a little smaller and more annoying.
"If we can get her so that there's nowhere to turn but us, maybe we can learn some things." Maybe she could handle Danika like she handled trolls on the edge of the forest.
Or maybe not, because she handled trolls lethally. She frowned, folding her arms and pacing. The dreams this weekend had been weird, and her sister had been having them too?
God, the dreams. Alleria didn't even want to talk about those. Not any more than she already had. Who runs to a man's arms after their entire family is slaughtered like that? She would have just gotten started early on the idea of wiping the green-skins off the face of the earth.
And she didn't need further proof of the fact that she wasn't attracted to men like that. The dream had left her feeling extremely put out, and showering hadn't really helped.
"Like why she keeps running off, what really happened that night, how SHE survived it..." Alleria had tried getting answers to all of those questions before, of course. But Danika had a way of charming her and then slipping through her fingers.
Sylvanas' dream sex life had been pretty threadbare. A few lovers here and there, no one that really stood out. Not like this man that seemed to haunt her sister.
She was all for wiping out trolls and orcs, though. That seemed to be ingrained into her very being, though without the sheer blinding rage that consumed Alleria.
Sylvanas was simply more practical than that.
"This is why I don't do love," She said, a little dismissively and a little sadly. "Maybe we need to hire someone to find her."
"Love isn't a bad thing, Sylvie," Alleria sighed, and cut into one of her pancakes, "It keeps you from going insane sometimes. Just... Some people make it hurt worse than it should."
Or maybe the point of love was to be in pain for the rest of your life. Maybe the only people who ever really gave themselves over to love were the kind of people who always gave all of themselves fully, no matter the cost.
She scrunched up her nose at the idea of hiring someone, "Vereesa's tuition is paid for the year, but we've got rent due next month. I'm not sure how much that would cost. Or who we'd even go to."
"Love isn't a good thing either," She countered sharply, pulling a beer out of the fridge. She only needed to look at Alleria and see that as a fact. She glanced at her sister, "If you have peace of mind maybe you'll work better."
"I work well enough now!" Alleria snapped in response.
Love wasn't a good thing. Fine. Maybe it wasn't. But she didn't think it was something you needed to sit around avoiding. It was almost like Sylvanas was doing it on purpose, just because of her.
"... It'd probably be different for you, you know. It wouldn't be like it was with me and Da--... with her."
"No. Sex without love. That's it for me. There's this guy in catering I've been thinking of," Sylvanas replied, hoping to distract her sister.
"The guy in catering? You cannot be serious. He probably has all kinds of diseases anyway..." Alleria couldn't believe her ears. She gave Sylvanas a dumbfounded look as she finished up her pancake, in fact.
"The other guy in catering, the one with the bangs." He was probably gay, which could present a problem. Sylvanas shrugged a shoulder. She hadn't been all that serious. Neither of the men really got her motor running.
She took away Alleria's plate, "Lets see if we can find ourselves some parttime jobs."
"Fine, fine," Alleria sighed, letting the other topic go for now, "But if we can't make ends meet, I'm going back to a full time job. And you're going to stay part time and enjoy the time you get off. Just not with the guy from catering."
“Fine. Deal. Lets go.” Sylvanas pulled her sister to her feet, “Just fucks sake put some clothing on, no one needs to see your ass.”
"That might as well be in the papers too, at this point. Who knows, maybe it'd bring her back here." Alleria snarked, as she headed back to her room to put her clothes on.
Sylvanas had definitely put her in a better mood, though. Maybe today wasn't a total waste after all.
