Elsa had been so busy lately that meeting up with Gale was one of the first breaks she’d had in a while, one she was determined to make and not rearrange like she’d had to do a few times to others lately. There was so much going on at the studio with new programming and such, but then Gale was likely just as busy or at least knew what was going on. Getting out of the office was good for both of them, so arranging to eat lunch at a local cafe had been the perfect escape plan. Especially since they had much more important things to discuss, like Gale’s wedding. There had been no time for a coffee in the morning, with Gale rushing out of the house and barely remembering to grab a granola bar in his haste - he’d given Bella Nutella her breakfast after a quick jaunt around the block, fed the nugs, and then zoomed out to be at Arendelle Network in time for a meeting. Also taking into account traffic, which was great. But he’d made it with six minutes to spare and it’d been a successful meeting, planning a whole new digital campaign for the network - that was why he’d been subsequently buried in his office, using market research analytics to assess the effectiveness of the various social media sites in conjunction with the ratings coming in. When he looked up, it was time to leave for lunch. Now he could grab a coffee, and preferably a sandwich or something - because he was starving. He placed his order at the counter, and then went to look for Elsa once he had the coffee and his chicken salad sandwich. Elsa had grabbed a hot chocolate and sandwich herself and waved Gale over once she’d seen him get his own lunch. Standing as he came over she gave him a hug before they sat, “You look like you were in need of a break as much as I was. We’re keeping you busy?” she asked, hoping it wasn’t too busy. She didn’t want him feeling too much pressure or being overworked. “Yeah, but I love it,” Gale flashed a rare grin over at Elsa - he didn’t smile much, his features serious and oftentimes gloomy (when he was a woman he didn’t even need to work at resting bitch face), but that depended on who he was around. “The time goes quick and I feel like I’m doing good work too. Even if it’s just organizing all your fanmail.” He was teasing, but she did get a few letters from inspired fans, and snowflake drawings from little girls who wanted to be news reporters and who thought Elsa looked like their favorite Disney royal. How weird, right? “But how’ve you been?” he asked, blowing a little on his coffee to cool it. “How’s Kate?” “Well I’m glad to hear that, I’d hate to think we’re making you work too hard” Elsa said with a smile before laughing, “That’s the most important part. It helps me look like much nicer when I reply to people in a timely manner” she winked. “I’ve been good, busy but good. And Kate’s been the same really. We’ve been keeping each other sane” she smiled, “How’s Leliana?” “Part of what marriage is all about, right?” Gale chuckled. “Keeping each other sane. Leli’s good too - a friend of mine, she also happens to dream of Panem, is designing our wedding rings. She just showed us the preliminary markups or whatever they’re officially called and they look great, so it’s pretty exciting.” The whole thing was, just the idea of for real getting married - never did Gale think he would be able to have something like this, in either life, but especially while trapped in the sooty sorrow of District 12. And afterward, when he became a person his best friend no longer even recognized. “December 10th will be here quicker than we think. Apparently solar power at our chosen venue is also a go, so I know both me and Leli are relieved by that.” He wouldn’t ask guests to sit in the dark or freeze their asses off - sure, there were plenty of candles, there was torchlight, and also central fireplaces in Skyhold. But people were just so used to modern amenities. “Oh that is exciting. How wonderful, it’s such a lovely added touch to customise your own wedding jewellery. It means more” Elsa said with a smile, she knew Kate had gotten her engagement ring design because of Elsa’s powers, after all it was shaped like a snowflake. “That is good, I’m sure I can help there too. Clear clouds if there are too many I mean, and ensure there is plenty of light around” Elsa said, she couldn’t exactly control the weather but she could control the ice and snow and if she called upon the clouds she’d found they dispersed or gathered depending on what she needed. The fact that Elsa wanted to use her ice magic to help really make the day special warmed even Gale’s stoic heart. He had seen her work first hand, so he knew that the photos were going to come out amazing, with everything all a snowy landscape - and people would enjoy themselves too, immersed in kind of a whimsical winter wonderland at a medieval castle. “It’s going to look nice, and that’s all you,” he said as he popped a potato chip into his mouth and crunched down. “If you had any ideas for a way to people to and from the castle - like up a mountain - I’m all ears. I think Leli’s friend who actually owns the castle is arranging for something like a road leading up, or maybe even a cable car. But I’m not sure when that’s going to be all set to go.” Elsa naturally wanted to help and if her ice powers could do that then she was more than happy to do so. It was nice to use her abilities for something good and what could be better than a very good friend’s wedding. She was looking forward to making everything look perfect. Taking a sip of her drink she considered Gale’s question, “Perhaps ice carriages...” she pondered, laying her hand on the table and creating a miniature carriage, “Of course we’d need to pull it...” a moment later an ice creature appeared, looking much like an abominable snowman made of ice to pull the carriage. “But that may take too long” she sighed. Okay, call him twelve years old, but that was awesome. How could he not be entranced watching as one of his friends created something from ice right then and there - it was just really cool to see, and Gale was entranced, those pale grey eyes not looking away. “Ice carriages. That sounds perfect, like something from a fairytale - I mean, no pressure or anything,” he cut himself off sheepishly, when he realized that he probably sounded a little too excited. “I don’t want you to be too tired to enjoy the wedding.” But he could definitely see it - carriages would match that whimsical, medieval feel from another time and place. And he’d totally add blankets and furs to any carriage so people would be cozy on the brief ride up. Well. Faux-fur. He didn’t want PETA or even Leli herself to start crying about the dead animals. It was something Elsa didn’t think twice about anymore, she used her abilities a lot more now and was comfortable with them. At home she was Kate’s personal ice machine - for drinks as well as bruises. Elsa smiled brightly at Gale’s enthusiasm, “Don’t worry, I won’t use my powers for a few days before the wedding, that way I’ll be all powered up” she told him, “If you want carriages then you will have carriages” Anything he wanted that she could do then she would. “Just for the wedding, it’ll be a one-of-a-kind experience,” the soldier grinned, because he would hardly expect Elsa to make mountainous carriages as a side-job or something. Gale was pretty sure she had enough to do. “I can’t even begin to thank you for all that, Elsa. You’re the best.” She really was a great friend, and he was going to get all warm and fuzzy over his chicken salad sandwich in a minute here. “I thought we’d go to Paris for our honeymoon,” he went on, not wanting to embarrass himself with more emotional talk. “Leli hasn’t been in awhile but it’s beautiful there. Where did you and Kate go?” he asked. “You’re welcome, I just want to help your day be completely perfect” Elsa said honestly, finding it really sweet that he was getting so fuzzy about it. But then weddings had that effect. It was a big step but a wonderful one. “Paris is always lovely, that is the perfect place for a honeymoon” she smiled recalling her own, “We went to New York and then the Bahamas. It was incredible” It was kind of funny, for an actual ice queen to go to the Bahamas - but Gale figured the experience was a nice switch for Elsa, who clearly had an affinity for all things winter. Besides, the bonus part was that if she or Kate got too hot then Elsa could easily cool them down. “That’s memories to last a lifetime. I better get on the ball and book us a trip,” he said. His French wasn’t all that great, but obviously Leliana spoke the language. It would make getting around a whole lot easier. “We’ve been meaning to go to Paris anyway, someday. Now’s a good time, being that it’d be our honeymoon.” There was so much to see and do - not to mention the tidbits from Leli’s childhood, that he was eager for her to share. It was definitely a nice switch and of course getting to see her gorgeous wife in a bikini and little else was always a bonus. They’d both enjoyed it a lot, just relaxing and being together. Of course Gale wasn’t wrong and overheating was never an issue with Elsa around. “That is absolutely the best time to go. As you say you will make memories, and the most amazing ones at that” Elsa said, “I can recommend some lovely restaurants, oh and an incredible hotel too” “Have you been to Paris?” Gale wanted to know - he wouldn’t be surprised if Elsa already visited. He’d traveled a lot, for his various army exercises, training and tours, stationed in both exotic locales and ones that...weren’t anything to write home about. But never to France, that he could recall. “I’d love the recommendations though. Especially the hotel - it’s a fancy one?” Please, let there be stuff like towels in the shape of swans and French chocolates on the pillows. “I have and I loved it. The architecture is amazing and the food is to die for” Elsa enthused before nodding, “Oh yes, it is. Only the best” she grinned, already working out how to pay for the hotel as part of a wedding gift for them. If he wanted swans and chocolates he would not be disappointed with the place Elsa had in mind. The food. Yeah, admittedly, Gale was looking forward to trying that. He’d heard nothing about good things regarding the cuisine in France - given how much fresher things seemed to be (not to mention the pastries; the budding baker in him would be in awe), it was clear that if he and Leli did head there for their honeymoon, he would have to go off the soldier’s diet for the duration. And exercise like hell to make up for it when he got back. Though certain honeymoon activities did tend to burn a lot of calories, so there was also that. “Tell me more, wow me with your experiences,” Gale encouraged, and he would definitely take Elsa’s suggestions to heart. He trusted her with recommendations, trusted her with just about anything - she’d already proven that she was one of the best friends he could ever have. |
