Who: Arthur and Baby
What: Pokemon Hunting
When: Early August
Where: Huntington Beach Central Park
Rating/Warnings: Low/None
Status: Complete

Pokemon hunting was something that Baby found relaxing. Most people probably wouldn't have assumed that the stripper enjoyed such a thing, but since the game had been released she found more excuses to go outside and enjoy the sun and visit some places that the OC had to offer. She'd told Arthur to meet her at Huntington Beach Central Park, a place that had over 60 Pokestops.

So there she sat, underneath a tree and close enough to one Pokestop that had a Lure dropped on it. She'd just caught another Pidgey when she noticed a guy that appeared to be looking around for someone. Hopping up, Baby dusted off the seat of her shorts and walked over to him with a smile. "You Arthur?"

Arthur had easily found the park though he quickly found himself surrounded by Pokestops and not quite sure which one he was to head too. He realised that he should have probably asked Baby exactly where in the park it was. After looking around he found one that seemed to be popular. Approaching it, he looked around and was about to ask if someone knew Baby when she called out. “Yeah,” he said with a nod. “Glad you found me. I was a bit lost,” he shrugged.

“Thanks for agreeing to do this though, I appreciate it. So how are we going to do this?” he asked curiously.

Laughing, Baby gave a small tip of her head. "You looked a little lost, so I figured you might be looking for someone." She gave him a grin, "So it looks like my intuition was right on target." Baby liked to think that she could read people pretty well, and it wasn't that often that she was wrong.

"Oh, you're welcome." Her phone vibrated in her hand, and she glanced down to see a Pidgey nearby. With a roll of her eyes, she looked back over at Arthur. "Well, we can stick around here since the lure will bring more Pokemon in. Do you have any Lucky Eggs?"

“That’s probably a good way to guess,” he said with a laugh. “Glad you got the right person though,” he added smiling before sitting down next to her. “I think so, hang on let me check,” he said pulling up the item list. He thankfully managed to find that fairly quickly. “Yeah I have two of them. I admit I haven’t really done anything with the game so far,” he blushed slightly. “The lure sounds good though. This description of the egg sounds good too. I guess I should turn it on then?” he asked her curious as to what she would suggested.

"You should, it'll help boost your experience points, which is always a bonus when you're first starting out." Baby pointed out with a grin, "And later one when levels are hard to come by." She gave a roll of her eyes, the amount of experience points that they wanted everyone to have as they climbed was ridiculous in her opinion, but whatever, it worked. "But yeah, once you have it activated then we'll collect on the Pokestop that the lure is attached to." She had her phone up, ready to click onto the Pokestop whenever he was ready.

“Ok that makes sense,” Arthur nodded. It took him a couple of times but then he got it activated. “So half an hour to get as much as we can then?” he asked noticing the countdown under the egg to the right of the screen.

“There does seem to be a lot of pokemon around,” he added as he looked at the screen.

"Yeah, it kinda stinks that it only lasts that long." She pulled a face, and then gave a small shake of her head. It would figure though, they wanted people to spend money on their game with microtransactions.

"Yup, that would be thanks to the lure." She shifted slightly, peering over at his screen. "So what you wanna do is tap on one of them, and then once it comes fully onto your screen you'll do this." Baby held her own phone out, going ahead and going for the Pidgey that she'd dismissed earlier. It was only a flick of her thumb that had her hitting the Pidgey with a Pokeball and it shook once, twice and then three times. "See? Pretty easy right?"

“Still better than nothing,” he shrugged. Looking over her shoulder at her phone, Arthur watched her catch the Pidgey. “That seems easy enough right,” he agreed. “So, I do this,” he said clicking on what turned out to be a Ratatta. He held down his finger on the ball, swipped up and… Missed. “Damn. Okay so not as easy as you made out to be. I went completely sideways. Still I guess I just need to practice?” he suggested trying again. “Okay, not as bad. It hit and went off. Any tips to get it to actually go in the ball?” he asked curiously.

Baby gave a small sideways tip of her head, "That's true." She couldn't argue with that, they were great for grinding XP, but Baby wasn't only wanting to grind XP. She wanted to get better Pokemon. She leaned over, watching him as he attempted to get the Ratatta into the ball. Baby held her phone up, "Yeah, practice does help. It took me forever to figure out the best way to make this work." She pursed her lips, "I think you're supposed to wait until the circle is tight around the Pokemon, you know, the colored one. Then you throw it, and it's easier to catch." Baby gave a small nod, "At least, that's what I'd read."

“Okay let’s give that a shot.” Arthur held the ball and watched the circle decrease in size. He threw the ball upwards and… “Gotcha,” he said as the phone told him that he had captured the Ratatta. “Thanks that was helpful. So just keep doing that then I should be alright then?” he asked curiously. It seemed simple but he had a feeling it could get a lot harder when the pokemon got higher up or you progressed through the levels or there would be no challenge at all in the game.

Baby curiously watched Arthur as he threw the Pokeball and caught the Ratatta. "You're welcome, and yup! Once you get up to higher levels there'll be different balls to use and Razzberries. Still, the same principle applies." Baby shrugged, and caught a Caterpie that had been hanging around the Lure for a little bit. "We can get up and walk around to all the different Pokestops around here if you want?" She glanced over at him with a raised brow.

“Sounds good and thanks. I do appreciate this. I imagine you’d much prefer to be off hunting yourself than teaching a newbie at all of this.” Arthur had no problem with saying that about him. It was true. Sure she seemed to be playing but it might have been quicker to go off by herself? He honestly wasn’t sure. “I guess I’ll see what comes up and how I go catching it either way.”

Waving a dismissive hand, Baby shook her head. "Nah, it's way better to hunt with other people. I mean, I enjoy hunting with other people and I don't mind teaching people." Baby honestly didn't mind helping out people in regards to things, well if they weren't annoying. Arthur was a nice guy, and so far she was enjoying his company. "Yup, come on, let's go and see what we can get into."
