Who: Elsa and Kate When: 29th August Where: Their home and then a restaurant What: 1st Wedding Anniversary Rating/Warnings: Low/None Status: Complete
Kate had very nearly forgotten her one year anniversary with Elsa. Which was a crime in and of itself. Fortunately an appropriate bribe had gotten her reservations at a top scale restaurant, and she’d booked a room at a nearby hotel. Top floor suite. The better to surprise her wife, and what better back drop to peeling a dress off than the view out that window overlooking the city and the ocean? Kate was trying to make up for almost forgetting, even if Elsa never figured out how close she’d come.
She wore a glittering red dress, and waited by the door for Elsa, eager to see her. Of course Kate Kane was always eager to see Elsa. A year married, nearly two (or was it three now?) since they’d first met, and Elsa always, always took her breath away and made her heart race.
Elsa, of course, hadn’t forgotten anything. There had been a card, flowers and breakfast waiting for Kate that morning and while she had needed to go into work she had made sure that more flowers had been delivered while she was out.
Putting on her sparkling white dress she made her way down the stairs and smiled, they matched very well. Elsa with her ice queen look and Kate with her fiery passionate one. They were a wonderful pair. “You look beautiful” she said to her wife, giving her a kiss.
Elsa continued to surprise and delight Kate. “Not as beautiful as you.” She grinned at her wife, giddiness dancing in her stomach. She hoped she never got used to this or took it for granted. She’d lost out on her chances twice in the dreams. She didn’t want to lose that here. “I hope you’re in the mood for fusion.”
“I’m in the mood for you, does that count?” Elsa told her with a cheeky grin, she always got that butterfly sensation in her tummy too. Kate never failed to excite and thrill her and Elsa knew she always would. She was a fun person to be with as well as spontaneous and brave, her wife was the best person she knew.
“Keep talking like that and we’re going to get arrested for public indecency.” A strong part of Kate was way into the idea of getting naughty with her wife in places one normally shouldn’t get naughty with their wives. “But that might be fun…”
Laughing happily Elsa took her wife’s hand, “Play your cards right and we could get into a whole heap of trouble tonight” she said with a mischievous wink. Elsa had never really been one for trouble before but with Kate she’d discovered a love of it.
Something glinted in Kate’s eyes, and she stroked her thumb over Elsa’s knuckles. “Good thing I’m good at cards.” She opened the door for Elsa to let her into the car. “Do you think I should have done a suit tonight? I had to flip a coin.”
“Not at all” Elsa said as she got into the car, “You look beautiful” Kate looked pretty good in anything she wore but Elsa especially liked the dress she was wearing. “I think we look rather perfect together” she said leaning across to press a kiss to Kate’s lips once she too was seated in the car.
“We do,” Kate replied, sliding her hand along Elsa’s cheek and cupping her face as they kissed. Times like this she just wanted to show Elsa how much she meant to her, in a private way. But she could behave and Elsa deserved the stars and to be shown off in public too.
Honestly Elsa wouldn’t have minded being shown off in private but it would be a shame to waste their outfits and going out together was something they did always enjoy, even if they tended to be fighting crime lately. Spending any time together was wonderful as far as Elsa was concerned, she adored her wife just as much now as the day they had been married.
Something other than fighting crime was welcome. As easily as Kate could fall into the role of Batwoman-The-Soldier, she knew she needed to keep an unmasked life going. Not doing so was unhealthy, and in the extreme could ruin her marriage. At least they hadn’t made any enemies here. “Wait until you see this place. The view is to die for.”
She wanted to get there quickly. They served good wine from what she was told but they’d have to take that with them, even though the hotel was close by. Somethings Kate just wouldn’t risk.
Having a crime fighting and home life balance was definitely needed and thankfully something they weren’t doing too bad with currently. It was good they had each other to gently remind them when they needed to pull back for a while.
“I can’t wait” Elsa said, always getting a thrill when Kate drove. She was a very competent driver and Elsa always felt safe in the car. It helped that Kate never took unnecessary risks like drinking and driving.
Some weeks, Kate knew she needed to pull back for both of them, so she tried to at least. She parked, and then opened the door for Elsa so she could escort her into the restaurant. She was going to walk in like she owned the place, with the most beautiful woman in the world on her arm. “Of course, I only got the best seat.”
“I would expect nothing less” Elsa said with a chuckle as they were shown immediately to their seats as soon as Kate told them her name. They made a rather impressive power couple, even before they had married, “I’m impressed you remembered and not only that but you outdid yourself” she said in amusement taking Kate’s hand on the table.
Having the money from her mother-in-law had often been both a curse and a blessing. Right now, it was definitely a curse. “I’m usually so bad with dates.” She winked at Elsa. She was also a terrible flirt, in that effective way, and it worked out so well for her here.
“You know that isn’t what I meant” Elsa laughed, “You’re amazing at dates, you always have been right from our first” she smiled fingers rubbing over Kate’s as she looked adoringly at her wife.
“That’s partly because you just...blew me away.” Her cheeks turned just a little pink. “You still do. Sometimes I’ll forget what I was thinking or going to say because you smiled at me the right way.”
Elsa blushed too, “You do the same to me as well you know. From the first moment I saw you I kind of knew I had found the one” she admitted.
“....Really?” Kate looked surprised. She thought she’d been the only one swept off her feet. She’d had to contain herself from trying to sweep Elsa off of her feet, even if that had failed. “I never believed in love at first sight, but you were as..close to that as it can get.”
“Don’t be so surprised, I was smitten from the start. I just tried not to show it” Elsa said, she’d been so different then so unsure and hesitant about herself and everything else. It was strange how things worked sometimes. She’d never felt more confident now. Smiling she said happily, “Glad to hear it”
“You were probably better than I was at hiding it.” Kate’s grin was a little lopsided. She reached across the table, touching Elsa’s hands. “It’s been almost two years, hasn’t it? Since that New Year’s party? Or was it a holiday party?” Their household had become somewhat of a mixture.
“Two years this year. The day after Christmas Day was our first date then we went to Stark’s party for New Years Eve” Elsa said, linking their fingers as she smiled. It was strange to think it was only two short years ago that they’d met but Elsa had known pretty quickly that Kate was the only one she wanted.
“You’re always better with dates than I am,” Kate replied. But she could still remember seeing Elsa across the room. She’d momentarily found it hard to breathe. She’d attributed it to an instant attraction and desire. And for all her talk of not rushing Elsa she’d desperately wanted to make love to her. And it really had been instant, but it had grown into something much deeper. Of course, she just needed to lift her eyes to Elsa’s and recapture that feeling. It was never hard to do so.
Elsa remembered everything, from their first conversation on the net to their first date and everything since. It was the way her mind worked, attached to those feelings and emotions were dates and times. Luckily she knew others didn’t work that way so never held it against them if they didn’t remember as well as she did. Smiling she said, “Everything with you is forever ingrained in my memory” she teased, “I even remember the weather” Not that it was so surprising considering her job.
Kate grinned at her. “Oh? What was the weather like the night we first made love?” They’d barely made it two weeks from the first date. But of course Kate would remember that. First kiss too. But then their first kiss had been New Years Eve and remained one of the most magical moments of her life.
Elsa definitely remembered that too, the lingerie she’d picked out and brought while thinking about Kate and how they’d spent the night exploring each other. It had been amazing. “It was fairly mild, a nice change since we’d just had a run of freak snow” Elsa smiled, “There was little cloud cover too, the moon and stars were bright”
“The freak snow wasn’t even your fault that time,” Kate teased. “Though I hope we have some snow planned this December, I kind of like it. Like a tradition.” It made her think of Gotham, the good parts. The silence of the city in the snow, the soft glow of street lights as it fell, a peace that belied the darkness under the surface.
“Nope not that time” she grinned, “But if it looks like there won’t be any this year I’ll see what I can do” she promised, she loved the way snow made everything look and she thought it even had an effect on the people too. Made them calmer somehow and friendlier, though in fairness most people here were friendly anyway.
“Good, it’s always nice to have an in with a snow angel.” As long as it didn’t get as bad as that one time, but then there’d been a good reason for it. She winked after calling Elsa a snow angel. That was so corny, but she didn’t care.
Laughing Elsa couldn’t help but feel lucky even with such corny lines, she kind of loved them. “Anytime you want snow I’m here to please” she said with a cheeky smile.
“What about needing some serious cooling down? Just need one from staring at you in that dress,” Kate said, lowering her gaze as she looked her wife up and down. “It’s...really not fair.”
“Sweet talker” Elsa said, letting a little of her magic travel from her fingers and glide over Kate’s skin giving her a little shiver of cold before it disappeared, “How about that?” she asked, her eyes darker.
It had the opposite effect, sending a current running through Kate’s body. When she exhaled next, there was just the tiniest amount of frost on her breath. “Really...not fair.”
Elsa gave a giggle, “Sorry, am I supposed to be playing fair?” she asked as innocently as possible biting her lip as she looked at her gorgeous wife.
Kate slowly reached for her drink, taking a sip without breaking eye contact. Elsa’s lip-bite was one of her favorite things and she didn’t trust her words. So instead, she shrugged one shoulder, and when she could trust her voice, she replied. “I like how you’re playing.”
Kate was so in love and so whipped.
“Oh yeah? Well in that case I won’t change the game” Elsa said, tapping Kate’s glass to cool it a little with a mischievous smile.
“I love you,” Kate breathed. She put her glass down. She winked at her and teased. “My own personal ice-box.”
“I love you too” Elsa replied before laughing, “That is definitely a new endearment, I think I like it” she teased.
“Would you prefer ice-queen? I think that has worse connotations.” She’d forgotten they were here to eat, too enraptured by her wife (her wife!) to notice. The realization hit her out of nowhere. “We’ve been married a year, I still can’t believe it. I keep expecting the other shoe to drop.”
“Ice-box is fine” Elsa assured her before laughing lightly, “No shoes will be dropping, you’re stuck with me now. Til death do us part and all that goes with it. But for now let’s order food, the sooner we eat the sooner I can get you home and out of that dress” Because as gorgeous as her wife looked she knew she looked just as gorgeous without the outfit.
Kate flushed, something that was hard to hide on her pale skin. “Something tells me you’re hungry for more than just dinner.”
