What sort of species are there in your dreams?
Who: Li and Ahsoka
What: A date!
When: Mid August
Where: Lindsey Stirling concert, sushi place, then Ahsoka's flat
Status: complete
Rating: PG they're really cute okay?
Part 1 of 2 because we broke IJ
Li had gotten good seats for the show. They were close to the stage, in the middle of the floor so they not only had a good view of Lindsey, they also had a good spot for hearing the music. Not that the concert was like a rock band or something, but Lindsey could still get a groove on. On the way in, Li had stopped to get some merch. A t-shirt and a hoodie, to be precise. Lindsey’s new album wasn’t out yet, but Li couldn’t wait to get her hands on it.
“So, what do you think of the seats?” Li asked after they got to the seats. She was probably way hyped for this concert. And for being with Ahsoka. That was definitely some sort of energy signature that could be felt in the Force. Li was barely containing her excitement, but she was saving it for the show itself.
“They’re great!” Ahsoka had changed into a tank-top she’d bought at one of the stands, and it let her show her guns off for Li and anyone else who might look. She bounced in her seat a little, the excitement from the show, and the people and Li ringing loudly in the back of her skull. She patted Li’s hand. “Do you think she’ll be as energetic as she is in her videos?”
The ability to admire the Ahsoka’s guns was most definitely appreciated. Li did take a gander at them now and then. She attempted to keep herself calm and contained, but it was difficult the closer to showtime they came. “I definitely think she will be. I just can’t wait to watch her do all of that in person.” She tucked some loose strands of hair behind her ear. She had her long hair in a high-set ponytail. Best to keep it off her neck when body heat was going to be raising the temperature in the place.
Every time they went out, Ahsoka tried to act like a gentleman, of sorts. She thought about how Obi-wan or Anakin would have treated a lady (more Obi-wan than Anakin if she wanted to be honest), but that also meant she had to be really careful. She thought she could handle it though.
At least she did until Li did that hair thing, and Ahsoka found herself stroking fingers along Li’s earlobe and to the space where neck met ear. She realized that Li had said something. “Wait what? Uh. Yeah. Totally.”
Acting like a gentleman was something that Li rather liked about Ahsoka. She did enjoy that, and it made her feel special. It gave her a feeling of butterflies in her stomach in the same way that she had butterflies in her stomach as Ahsoka’s fingers stroked along her earlobe. She shivered lightly, leaning into the touch as she smiled at Ahsoka. “I think she will put on quite the show,” she remarked.
At some point they were going to graduate from dating to ‘girlfriends’ and Ahsoka would probably lose her mind when that happened. She was already losing her mind, and leaned in to steal a kiss. Except the concert was starting, and so she leaned back into her seat and tried to pretend she hadn’t just tried to make a move. “She’s on!”
When that happened, Li would be entering completely new territory. Though dating was new territory for her as well, but it was somehow slightly less freakout worthy than ‘girlfriends’ tended to make her feel when she thought about it. After all, she was still in the closet as far as her parents, and most of the people in her life were concerned. And her parents liked to try and matchmake her with guys, which didn’t help anything.
But then Ahsoka was leaning in for a kiss and she felt her heart flutter a bit. And then the concert was starting and she, too, sat upright in her seat, eyes moving from Ahsoka to the stage. And then the full excitement hit her as she started cheering.
Ahsoka’s dad didn’t even know she was in to women. She didn’t think Plo Koon would actually care but it was still a frightening thought. And part of her might still be mad he didn’t fully defend her when she was expelled from the order, but that wasn’t human Plo’s fault. Probably.
The concert was outstanding. More than once the crowd was on their feet, and Ahsoka was having the time of her life. She spent half the time watching Li. If nothing else, it had been worth it to see the expression on Li’s face.
During the concert, Li was definitely ‘in the zone,’ as the saying went. She was carried away by the music and the electric performance. She was definitely having the time of her life as well. She didn’t want the concert to end, but as all things eventually did, it had come to an end. Li was positively buzzing from the experience, and she looked up at Ahsoka with a huge grin on her face.
“That was amazing!” She said, deciding to wait for some of the crowd to clear out before heading for an exit.
“We should try to get some autographs,” Ahsoka suggested. She didn’t know if Lindsey Stirling was going to do signings, but she could probably mind trick someone into letting them backstage. It was a very non-jedi thing to do, but then Li was practically glowing and Ahsoka would do just about anything for her right now.
“It is probably difficult to get an autograph. The place was full tonight, there will probably be quite a few people waiting. They already did a VIP session as well.” Li just didn’t have the money for getting VIP tickets. The price for the two seats they did get weren’t all that cheap either, but it was all she could afford with the allowance her parents gave her so she could live.
“I could cheat. Do you want me to cheat?” Ahsoka bounced on her heels, reaching down to take Li’s hand. “It’s called a mind trick. I mean normally I should be using it for good causes but…”
“A mind trick? I do not know, I do not like cheating in that way.” As much as she would love to meet Lindsey and get an autograph, Li didn’t quite like the thought of cheating to get it. She could wait like everyone else and see if there was a chance of it happening.
“It’s a suggestion… to get what we want,” Ahsoka explained. Li was probably right, and Ahsoka calmed herself down. Was this why they were warned about attachment? She put her arm around Li’s waist, and snuck a kiss on her cheek. “But it might be better if we can get it naturally, right? Feel better.”
“It would feel better to get it naturally. It may also be more rewarding.” Li said. She leaned into Ahsoka and slid an arm around her. “Do you think we will have the best chance of it by the stage door? Or by the tourbus?” She remembered seeing a couple tour buses parked near the venue when they’d gotten in line before the doors opened.
Ahsoka thought about it a moment. “The tour bus, maybe we can intercept. Too bad you don’t have your violin, she could have signed that!” But they had other things, like a picture. Mostly Ahsoka wanted Li to meet her fellow artist. It had been a really good night so far and that would only be the icing on the cake.
She had to give herself props for her control with Li leaning against her though. The spell caster had weaved a spell around the former jedi!
“Then we can head that way.” Li said with a smile. “That would have been a great thing for her to sign. Perhaps next time!” If she was able to get VIP tickets the next time, perhaps she would do just that. She glanced around, then looked up at Ahsoka. “Shall we make our way out?” It would be great to just be able to talk to Lindsey for a couple minutes, musician to musician and all. Perhaps one day Li would have the opportunity to do what Lindsey did, and not just perform straight classical pieces like she had been doing up to this point.
Ahsoka decided to make it her life’s mission to get Li an autographed violin. She slid her hand down to Li’s hip as they walked, enjoying the fact that she could get away with it. And no one who mattered really noticed. There was a barricade, though the way it was set up would clearly let fans interact with Lindsey as she made her way to the tour bus. Ahsoka gently used the force to part the crowd, and stood behind Li. She threaded her arms around her middle, and leaned in to kiss the back of her neck. “I think we might luck out.”
Li kept an arm around Ahsoka’s waist. She didn’t quite care if anyone thought it was weird or not natural that they were walking like this. She was still on too much of a natural high to care about what other people might potentially think. She leaned back against Ahsoka once they were in a spot by the barrier and waited with barely contained excitement. A slight shiver ran through her at feeling Ahsoka’s lips on the back of her neck. “You think so?” She asked. She had a feeling it would be a little bit considering Lindsey needed to pack up her violin, change clothes and all of that before coming out here. But she would wait.
“Yes. My intuition says we have a good chance of this.” Although from the way she kept kissing Li’s neck, Ahsoka’s intuition might be on other things. She straightened, taking a breath and remembering where she was. But she hugged Li back against her. “I think she’s coming!”
If Ahsoka played her cards right, there could be more kissing and such happening once they were in private. But for now, she needed to behave herself, even though her mind was somewhat straying thanks to the kisses to her neck. Though as soon as she heard Ahsoka say Lindsey was coming, Li snapped to attention, standing up straighter, but not pulling away from Ahsoka.
It took a bit as Lindsey did stop to talk with the fans along the way. When she finally made it to Li, Li managed to not completely lose it. She praised Lindsey’s skills and the show, even getting a little technical musical chat in there. And there was an autograph and even a picture!
Li’s enthusiasm and happiness made Ahsoka happy. She was practically buzzing as she walked away, hand in hand with her. “It looked like she didn’t want to actually leave. I don’t think too many fans talk shop with her. She seemed impressed!”
To say that Li was buzzing was probably an understatement. Ahsoka didn’t need to look at her to know that, her presence in the Force probably said it all, and more. She grinned up at Ahsoka. “You think so? It is hard for me not to become technical when speaking about music and the violin.” It was an instrument she loved, and she loved music. It was as much a part of her as her magic was.
“I love it,” Ahsoka assured her. There was something special about seeing someone really into their chosen field. Whether it was Hera’s piloting, or Barriss’s healing, Ahsoka had always enjoyed seeing her friends get into their work. And well, she may be a little biased as to Li. “The violin is practically an extension of your arm.’
“It is, yes. It is part of your soul. The music is the heart, and to share such things with an audience is unlike anything else.” Li spoke with a grin. Tonight had been amazing, but she didn’t want it to be over just yet. “I am happy you came with me tonight.”
“Do you want to,” Go back to my place. “Get something to eat?” Ahsoka wasn’t ready to end the night either. Even if they ended up out all night. She didn’t have work the next day, she’d taken it off in case they did spend too much time out. Better than reporting for duty tired or hung over. Not that she could drink yet. Legally.
“I would like that. Where would you like to go?” Li asked, knowing Ahsoka had special dietary needs. She was perfectly fine with letting her pick somewhere to eat. Perhaps one of these days, she’d cook for Ahsoka, make her some authentic Chinese food. Minus the vegetables, of course.
Ahsoka chewed on her lip. She wanted some place more special than burgers or steaks. “Oh. What about sushi?” Some people didn’t like the idea of sushi. Ahsoka would have to stick to the sashimi and the terayaki options, but there’d be plenty of yummy things for them both.
“Sushi would be wonderful!” Li responded. It had been a while since she’d had sushi, so it would be nice to indulge. Assuming, of course, the sushi was actual sushi and not something like what people could get at places like some Asian chain restaurants. That wasn’t true Asian cuisine, it was mostly Americanized.
Pulling out her phone, Ahsoka started searching for sushi places. She wanted something that wasn’t cheap, but also was affordable. At least that way it wouldn’t be bad or something. Or make them sick. That would be a terrible date! “Okay, I think I found a place nearby. Want to check it out?”
Getting sick on a date would definitely be a terrible way to end such a good night. So Li hoped wherever they went would turn out to be fine. “Yes, let us go there.” She trusted Ahsoka’s judgement on the matter.
It was a short walk away, so Ahsoka just took Li’s hand. It was thrilling, in it’s own odd way. Going out on a date, holding hands. Being seen with someone as pretty as Li. “If you haven’t turned me into a music fan already, tonight sealed the deal.”
Holding hands like this in public was still a new thing to Li, but she didn’t mind it in the least. She liked it, even if sometimes she did look to see if anyone was looking at them. But she didn’t do that tonight. “I am pleased to have been able to do that. Or I suppose it was more Lindsey than myself tonight.” She chuckled.
It wasn’t like someone was going to take a picture and Li’s parents would see it. Li wasn’t that famous yet, was she? “I can appreciate something through you.” She lowered her voice, as if Lindsey could overhear. “To my ears you’re better.” She was really trying to score points tonight, wasn’t she.
Li wouldn’t put it past her parents to have something set up so they could keep tabs on her. After all, it had been a long, drawn out battle for her to get them to let her come to America in the first place. They didn’t approve of her abandoning her studies in China, but she hadn’t relented to them. She was careful, however, to keep the reality of what she was doing as under the radar as possible. She didn’t need them coming over here and dragging her back to Shanghai unceremoniously.
Looking up at Ahsoka, she smiled, part of her humbled by that comment, another part filling with even more pride. “Thank you, it is good to know that.” And, well, Ahsoka was definitely scoring points tonight.
“Its true.” Ahsoka held the door for Li, practically beaming. Even just having friends again was wonderful. Though Li had managed to turn her head around in circles. She even pulled the seat out dramatically for Li, before sitting herself. And immediately licked her lips, “I am starving.” So much for being smooth!
The door holding and pulling out her seat won more points for Ahsoka. Li happened to really like those sorts of proper manners. Taking the menu in hand, she looked at Ahsoka and smiled. “Then we should certainly sate your appetite.” It was entirely possible that that carried a double meaning.
It was proper and romantic and probably not what Anakin would do, so it only made Ahsoka want to do it more. She picked up the menu, giving it a once over before deciding on tuna, salmon, and some beef terayaki. “I could probably eat an entire tuna. Those are huge, aren’t they?”
“Typically, yes.” Li responded with a smile. “Though you are not going to go for a whale?” She teased. She made her selection, going for eel and crab. The food did smell good, the aromas wafting through the restaurant catching her attention, and it only fed her hunger.
“I’d never eat a whale.” She picked up a glass of water and took a drink of it. “Besides, some of my friends in my dreams were whales. Basically. You meet a lot of aliens when you’re running across the galaxy fighting a war. A lot of them aren’t even humanoid.”
“What sort of species are there in your dreams? Aside from yours.” Li was fascinated by it. There weren’t different species in her own dreams. Unless angels and demons counted, of course.
“Thousands,” Ahsoka said. “So many that I don’t even know them all. There are the really common ones. Humans the most. Twileks. My own species. Mirilians like Barriss. Zabrak...So many others. A lot of them aren’t even humanoid, but most of them are.”
“That is fascinating. Unless demons and angels count, there are only humans in my dream world. I find it interesting there are other species in your dream world. It must make for some difficult interactions between the species at times.” It seemed logical, at any rate.
“Demons and angels might count. They’d basically be aliens.” Ahsoka rubbed her chin. “There were these...two entities. They were, basically, living embodiments of both sides of the Force. They’d be like demons and angels, honestly. But in my galaxy most people seem to get along? There are prejudices, of course. The Empire loathes non-humans, for example.”
“I suppose they might. As legend tells, angels and demons were able to interbreed. Their children were called Nephalem, and humans are descendants from the Nephalem.” Li had been called a Nephalem in her dreams, but she did not yet believe that was what she was. While she didn’t really remember her family, she was not about to say that she was Nephalem without any viable proof of it. “Prejudice seems to be a common thread among all realities. Though it is good to hear that most live in peace with each other in your dreams.”
A wry, sad smile crossed her face. “There’s still plenty of war. The jedi are supposed to be peacekeepers. We negotiate, fight when necessary. But then a bunch of planets felt as though the Republic was corrupt and tried to leave, and there was war. In hindsight, they weren’t entirely wrong, even if they were being used by the Sith.”
“It seems to me that most governing bodies have some level of corruption within them. Some more than others,” Li commented. “Some deserve to be pulled down in the fires of revolution, others merely need reform. Though I can imagine living through such a turbulent time was not easy.”
“I fought so hard to preserve the Republic that I didn’t see the rot from within. It was dissolved and reformed into the Empire, and now I fight to destroy that. It’s ironic.” Ahsoka accidentally nudged Li’s foot. “I mean, the older me does. Some days I feel more like her, other days less like her.”
“Is it a good thing or a bad thing to feel like the older you?” Li was curious. She hadn’t had a skip in time in her dreams and suddenly found herself older in them. So she couldn’t quite understand that. “Is your older self more jaded after her experiences than your younger self was?”
“A little more jaded but also more..hopeful. Calm. She’s a leader, and more spiritual. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just very much emotional whiplash sometimes. Going between going through teenager hormones and then this calm, mostly rational adult.” Ahsoka laughed. “And then me, here, stuck in between them.”
Li smiled, reaching out and setting a hand over Ahsoka’s. “That is undoubtedly a difficult place to be, stuck between both of them. But I think you are remarkable as you are. And beautiful, both in your true form and with your human look.” Li tilted her head a bit. “Is this how you looked before you became a Togruta?”
Ahsoka wasn’t beautiful. She never thought she was, anyway. She’d always felt a little like she was out of someone like Li’s league. But Li’s comments made her blush. “Yeah. When Raven helped me make the glamour we made sure I still looked like myself. I probably should have picked the body of a super model instead.”
Whether Li thought she herself was beautiful or not didn’t matter, but she didn’t see people as being in or out of anyone’s league. To her, the only measure of a potential relationship was whether there was attraction and compatibility between the two people. “Super models’ looks are highly overrated, if you ask me. You are perfect just how you are.” And looks did not matter to Li either, but she did find Ahsoka beautiful. Though of course, beauty was in the eye of the beholder.
Ahsoka all but squeaked, and hid behind her menu. “The perfect one here is you. Half the time I can’t stop staring at you.”
“I am not perfect, I have plenty of faults. Though this is probably the only time you will hear me say that.” Li said with a chuckle.
“I should have recorded this, saved it for posterity.” She peeked up over her menu and gave Li a tiny little grin. “I knew I was screwed the first time I laid eyes on you.”
“I am happy that you did not record this.” Li laughed, eyes sparkling as she looked at Ahsoka. “I am flattered by that. There is something to say about hygiene.” She joked, though she well knew beauty took more than just good hygiene.
Which sent Ahsoka’s mind plummeting to the gutter. She didn’t even know why but there were mental pictures and she lifted the menu to hide her face again. In a high-pitched voice, she squeaked, “We should order.”
Li happened to love it when Ahsoka’s voice got high-pitched like that. “Yes, we should.” She signaled the waiter, who came over and took their orders. Li then took pity on Ahsoka and allowed her to regain her composure.
Ahsoka nudged Li’s foot again, this time on purpose. “Tell me how some of that is. I’m going to be overloaded on sashimi.” And the beef. Oh she looked forward to the beef.
Composure restored, Ahsoka grinned at her. “Thank you for tonight.”
“I certainly will,” she said with a smile, this time nudging Ahsoka’s foot back. She took a sip of her drink, then smiled warmly. “You are welcome. Thank you for coming with me.” It had been a very good evening thus far.
“I was looking forward to it. It was a great concert and I’m so happy you were able to meet her!” Ahsoka was more excited for Li than she was for herself. She still was.
“I still cannot believe I had that opportunity. It was a wonderful way to round off the concert experience.” Li grinned. She knew that had she not fought her parents to come here, she would never have seen Lindsey in concert, much less have met Ahsoka.
“Is there anyone else you want to see?” Ahsoka could make plans. She was already making some plans, if dinner went well. It was a good thing she lived on her own now - no curfew from her foster dad.
“Tina Guo is at the top of my list, though she is not touring in America currently.” Aside from that, Li had some others, but they were largely in the straight up classical vein and weren’t exactly in this area giving performances.
She put that name into her mental file. At the very least she could maybe get some memorabilia online. Surprise gift. “We’ll have to keep an eye on her.”
“Yes, we will.” It would be really cool to see Tina in concert, but Li would keep that on the backburner for now. “What about you? Do you have any musicians you wish to see in concert?”
“There’s this one I’m dying to see,” Ahsoka said, all but jumping on the opportunity. “She has a beautiful voice, and talented fingers, and I’m dying for private lessons.”
“Oh? Who is she?” Li was genuinely unaware of who Ahsoka was talking about. She didn’t think she was on anyone’s must see list. Except her parents, but they didn’t count.
Ahsoka blinked at Li, opening her mouth, then closing it and grinning at her. “She’s the best violinist I’ve ever heard. Jealous?” There was a teasing lilt to her voice and an intense gaze in her eyes.
It took a few moments, but the teasing lilt finally set in in Li’s mind and she realized what Ahsoka was referring to. And then a sly smirk curved her lips. “Perhaps a little bit, yes.” Now she was teasing.
“Also the most beautiful. Smartest. Funny too. She has a way of boring into you with her eyes…” Ahsoka waved her hand.
“She certainly sounds remarkable if she is that talented and able to command such adoration.” Li said with a little chuckle and a gleam in her eyes.
“I might have the teensiest crush,” Ahsoka replied, knowing she was skirting a line and not really caring. Yolo, and all of that.
“Perhaps it is your lucky day because that crush might be mutual.” Li responded. Dancing a line or not, it no longer mattered if there was mutual feelings involved. Right? Even if what came after such an admission scared the shit out of her.
Ahsoka picked up her drink, needing to cool down all of a sudden. They were kind of girlfriends already, weren’t they? If so, why did this feel different? Was there a difference between dating and dating? Ahsoka had no idea, only that the way that she was looking at Li made it impossible to disguise how much she really liked her.
Dating in general was new to her, but she would agree that there probably was a difference between dating and dating. And they were probably kind of girlfriends already. But they hadn’t really talked about it. Suddenly Li felt nervous as her temperature began to rise. Her ears started to feel like they were on fire. She sipped her drink again, taking a breath. When she began to speak, she spoke in Chinese. She cleared her throat and started again. “So with that in the open, maybe we should talk about us?”
The Chinese was cute, and Ahsoka made a mental note to learn it. She already knew Spanish, plus a smattering of alien languages, it wouldn’t be too hard, she hoped. “Like...us us? Us being...an us? There’s an us? Can there be an us? I’d like there to be an us.” She didn’t even just mean what she’d been wanting to do to/with Li since she’d first met her, either. Ahsoka wanted...attachment. Which was dangerous, but she didn’t care. That was another life and this was her life here.
Li would be happy to teach Ahsoka some Chinese. Li actually spoke two dialects, Shanghainese and Mandarin. So she could have her pick of which one she wanted to learn first. “Yes, like us us. I would also like there to be an us. So. We are an us. Girlfriends.” The world ‘girlfriends’ was a little foreign to her as she wasn’t used to using it. But she liked the feel of it, liked that she could use it in reference to Ahsoka. She did like Ahsoka quite a lot, so now they could explore this relationship now that they were both on the same page and having taken this step.
Whichever was most useful. And then the other eventually. Ahsoka had once looked up the Chinese language and the number of languages in that country had been astonishing. “Girlfriends.” Ahsoka said the word like she was trying it out. She nodded her head. “I like that word. That’s a good word. That’s a good… us.”
Mandarin was the more widely spoken one. However, Shanghainese could come in handy if Li’s parents ever decided to come visit her. Unless Ahsoka didn’t want to know any of those conversations. She smiled warmly. “It is a very good word. I like us being an us.” And she was babbling. Thankfully, that was when their food was delivered.
They were an us. Okay. Ahsoka tried to play it cool. She picked up one of the rolls with her chopsticks, and then lifted it up towards Li. It was either going to be very sexy or she was going to smush tuna into Li’s face there was no in between.
When Ahsoka held the roll up towards her, Li smiled, leaned in and took a bite of it. And look, no smushed tuna on her face! She smiled warmly after chewing and swallowing. “Mmm that is good. Would you like to try either the eel or crab?” She knew they weren’t exactly for everyone, so she’d ask before feeding one to Ahsoka.
Suddenly in need of a cold drink of water, Ahsoka nodded. She realized a nod wasn’t enough, so she rasped. “Eel. Eel is good. One sec.” She took a drink of her water, and gave herself a mental pat on the back. Somewhere, Kyu would be so proud of her seduction technique.
Smiling, Li picked up one of the eel rolls with her chopsticks. After Ahsoka had some water, she held the roll up to her mouth. “Have you had eel before?” She wasn’t certain if Ahsoka was trying something new or not.
“No, no I haven’t. I always stuck with the tuna and salmon.” Her eyes darted to the eel, and then praying she didn’t embarrass herself, leaned in and ate the offered eel. Her eyelids fluttered and she made the kind of sound usually reserved for intimate moments. “Oh... that’s good.”
Licking her lips, Li smiled as she watched Ahsoka eat the eel. “I quite like eel. So it would seem that you have found something else to eat now and then. Not that tuna and salmon are bad.” She then picked up another eel roll and ate it, reveling in the taste.
“You know what they say about fish!” Ahsoka said. She blinked her eyes, and then sank down in her chair. “That is. Uhm. It’s really delicious. And I love eel now.” Someone save her from herself? “And that really came out wrong, only it didn’t come out wrong because.. I don’t know what I meant?”
Li wasn’t entirely certain she understood what Ahsoka meant by what people said about fish, but she shrugged it off. She chuckled softly, a warm smile on her lips as Ahsoka babbled. “You are quite adorable. It is okay, however. I am not certain what you meant either. But at least we have good food, better company and good conversation?” She suggested, hoping to ease Ahsoka a little. She didn’t need the Force to sense that Ahsoka seemed to be a little nervous.
Ahsoka nodded. “Yeah, there’s that.” Best that Li doesn’t know what she meant. She wasn’t entirely sure why she’d made such a dirty joke but it had fallen flat, at least to her ears. She tucked some hair behind her ears, and rested her elbows on the table. “I did want to ask you something.”
Innuendo and dirty jokes tended to go over Li’s head, mostly because of her sheltered upbringing. But sometimes things got lost in translation as well. She was getting better at picking up such things, but it was still taking some work at it. She sipped her drink, then looked at Ahsoka. “Of course, you may ask me anything.”
“Does it weird you out? Kissing me? When my glamour is down, I mean.” And if they ever did more than kissing Ahsoka didn’t know what she’d do or what Li would be comfortable with. It was one thing to say it, and another when actually faced with ‘oh you’re an alien.’
“Not at all. You being a Togruta does not bother me at all.” Li answered, not breaking eye contact. Now, if Ahsoka had a bunch of tentacles where her mouth was, that would probably be something that would weird Li out. But she didn’t mind Ahsoka’s alien appearance whatsoever. In fact, she thought she was very beautiful.
Ahsoka swallowed, and nodded. Almost shyly, she said, “Thanks. I.. kinda knew but sometimes you have to hear it. Do you want to go back to my place after this? We could watch a movie. Play a game.”
“I understand.” Li said reassuringly, reaching over and setting a hand on Ahsoka’s arm, squeezing it gently. Going through a physical change like that couldn’t have been easy by any means. “I would like that very much.”
“Great!” Ahsoka jumped a little then relaxed as Li’s warm hand sent fuzzy feelings throughout her body. “Great. Totally great. Is there anything you’ve never seen that you’ve wanted to see? LIke the stuff your parents blocked from you.”
“Pretty much everything? I was not allowed to watch much television or go to the movies. I had school work and practice to keep me occupied.” Li said in a mocking tone. Obviously she was mocking her parents, and she had to shake her head a bit. “So what do you think I absolutely need to see?”
Star Wars was still off limits, so Ahsoka tilted her head. “I think I know just the movie. Great music, a guy with a guitar flame thrower…” Though was Mad Max really a good date movie? Especially if she was trying to be seductive. Ahsoka would be the last person to ask. She nudged Li with her foot. “How does that sound?”
Li’s eyes widened a bit in some sort of blend of confusion and shock. “A guitar flame thrower?” She wasn’t certain what to make of that. It certainly sounded cool, but how would that work, exactly? “I think that is certainly something worth seeing.” She said with a nod as she returned Ahsoka’s foot nudge.
“If not that, then you definitely need to hear the Lord of the Rings’ soundtracks.” Ahsoka wondered if that might have been a better bet, but the trilogy was a long viewing time. Thinking about it, it wouldn’t be so bad. A good ten hours in Li’s presence, curled up against her. Or with her in her lap. She grinned a little stupidly at the thought. “I like watching you listen to music.”
“If you like watching me listen to music, then perhaps we should make it something good?” Li suggested. Of course, while a movie could be bad, the music could still be good. But Li wouldn’t particularly care what they watched. She’d just enjoy being around Ahsoka.
“I just… like watching you,” Ahsoka admitted. She ducked her head, then squared her shoulders. The food was delicious but she was suddenly impatient. Maybe Mad Max wasn’t the best end to a Lindsey Stirling concert. She’d have to find something a little more gentle, maybe.
“I think that is cute.” Li replied. There was quite a lot of opportunity when it came to Li. Western culture was very new to her, not to mention movies and such. Ahsoka was going to be graced with some firsts for Li. At least the ones that Yang didn’t snag up first, anyway.
Ahsoka would have to leave some for Yang. But for now, she was finished eating and eager to get to her place. She’d already changed her mind on Mad Max, but she hadn’t decided on something else to watch. “We should get dessert to go.”
Li was just finishing her last bit of food when Ahsoka mentioned the dessert. “I think that would be a good idea.” It would also give her some time to digest dinner before having dessert. “This was really good.”
“Yeah, it was.” There was a kind of chocolate cake thing with green tea frosting that looked really good. Ahsoka wondered if she could handle chocolate. She chewed on her lip. “Get what you want?”
Nodding, Li glanced over the available desserts. It was a bit of a difficult decision as a couple things sounded good to her. But in the end, that chocolate cake with green tea frosting won out, and that’s what she ordered to go.
Deciding to be safe, rather than sorry, Ahsoka just ordered some skewered meat to go. It was kind of like dessert, but teriyaki and good for a carnivore. She took Li’s hand to walk back to the car. It felt like she could float.
