Sharon was looking forward to catching up with Peggy. They had a lot to talk about! Sharon had cleared out room for Bucky and his things, and she was really excited about the whole ordeal. She’d never lived with a man before, never lived with a significant other. She’d never built a family like this. It was exciting and her heart fluttered every time she thought about it. Sharon wanted to share that feeling with someone she loved. So she grabbed a couple of white mochas and headed up to Peggy’s office, then knocked on the door. “Pegs?” She called through. “You free?”
Bucky moving in with Sharon was a surprise when it was announced to Peggy, but she could see that Sharon was quite happy about the whole thing. She would have had some choice words to say if the two had gotten engaged instead, but moving in was a far more reasonable step to take in their relationship. It also meant that she and Steve would most likely be having a discussion of a similar sort very soon. When she heard the knock on her door she lifted her head and smiled at Sharon’s voice, “Come on in, love.” Keeping her pregnancy quiet was tough to do, but she was incredibly nervous about things until she reached the end of her first trimester, but she knew she could have a bit of coffee.
Sharon pushed the door open and let herself into the office. A bright smile crossed her lips when she saw her cousin at the desk. Spending time with Peggy made Sharon feel warm and loved inside. Now that Sharon’s mother lived in Orange County she had other family close by, but Peggy was her own age, or close enough, anyway. That made all the difference. They could talk about things that Sharon couldn’t talk about with anyone else. Except Veronica.
“Hey,” Sharon smiled. “Working hard or hardly working?” She teased. It was a cliche tease, but Sharon was amused nonetheless. She held one of the coffees out to her cousin over the desk.
A soft laugh was given in response to Sharon and Peggy honestly wish that she was hardly working more often than not. This place always had a lot of things going on at once and Peggy was hoping that her exhaustion and morning sickness would go away so she would do a better job of multitasking. “A little bit of both sometimes,” she took the coffee and accepted it with a thanks, “What about you?” She knew Sharon had quite a bit going on in her personal life now.
“The mountains of paperwork after the incident at the warehouse are finally behind me,” Sharon slipped into the chair opposite Peggy’s desk. “So I’m thankful for that. We’ve taken down that particular crime organization. Good riddance. I’m sure I’ll find something else to occupy my time soon, though.” She was thinking along the lines of work, not necessarily her personal life. “It’s nice to have Bucky watching Viv most days now. I don’t have to worry as much about the daycare schedule conflicting with mine.”
“Don’t jinx yourself, love, because something crazy will happen and then you’ll be drowning in paperwork once again. I’m very glad that the whole situation is done and our men are locked up. As long as you and Veronica don’t get into a weird situation again we’ll be fine for a while,” it was impressive they got themselves out of it, but it was a big risk, “How is that going, by the way? Enjoying someone being back in the house and that someone happens to be someone you can play kissy face with?”
Sharon chuckled softly. “I’ll do my best to try and keep myself and Veronica out of trouble.” Though, knowing the pair of them that might have been easier said than done. “It’s absolutely amazing,” Sharon said, giving her cousin a smile. She may have blushed a bit at the words ‘kissy face’ and rolled her eyes playfully. “I’ve never lived with anyone like this before. I love having someone to cuddle with every night.” Then she laughed again, only at herself. “I sound like I’m a schoolgirl with a crush.”
Seeing Sharon this happy was quite pleasing and she was far happier than Peggy had ever seen her, which was a good thing. Sharon deserved some happiness in her life and if Bucky was the one to give it to her then thank goodness he was around. A smile graced Peggy’s face, “Aw, you are definitely a schoolgirl right now. I’m glad to see you being so happy. It’s a good look on you.”
Sharon grinned brightly at the compliment from her cousin. “Thanks,” she said, bashfully. “I’m a little embarrassed about it. I mean, it’s great, and I’m happy, but… it almost feels too good to be true.” She sighed, leaning back in her chair. “Anyway, enough about that. You’ll have to come over for dinner for like, a housewarming thing. Now he’s in and settled.”
“Well, it might feel like that right now, but you’ll get settled in and it’ll just feel normal. Don’t let yourself get too worked up over it being too good to be true,” that was only going to cause issues down the road, “And a housewarming would be lovely. It’s been awhile since I’ve been over and I haven’t even see how you changed around Veronica’s room. I think I can find a time to come over.”
Peggy was absolutely right; Sharon nodded in agreement. “We’ll set it up. I’d love to show you Viv’s nursery.” Sharon was a little surprised that Peggy hadn’t seen it yet, and chastised herself a little about that. She’d have to invite her cousin over more often to her place. “I should probably get back to work. Do you need anything else?”
“I’m looking forward to it. And I don’t think I need anything else, thank you so much for the coffee. I truly appreciate it,” Peggy gave her cousin a bright smile, “Don’t be a stranger and don’t work too hard.” It was always nice to get a visit from Sharon in the middle of the day. It was great to hear that things were going well with Bucky’s move in and she couldn’t wait to get a chance to come visit soon.
