Into the Dreams, and into another Realm! WHO: Presto(Narrative) WHAT: Presto has his first dream WHEN: early this morning WARNINGS: None really STATUS: Closed and complete
Presto had worked a long shift, overnight as usual, after a longer day split between a few morning errands, and an evening walking and exploring, then studying. BY the time he got home, he was dead tired, and he was more than ready to sleep all day long. He didn't dream a lot, and as he closed his eyes, he didn't expect that to change.
People talked about the dreams a lot on the network he was on, and he thought that was cool, but him, dream? That seemed ludicrous. Until suddenly, it wasn't.
He fell into the dream like he was waking up, and he knew suddenly that it was 1984, and he was a computer geek, and with his friends at a theme park when he spotted the ride he had been hoping for. "Hey Look, it's a Dungeons and Dragons Ride!"
The whole gang crowded to the ride's line and waited impatiently to be let in, most jostling and laughing about how cool(Bobby, Sheila, and Presto), or how lame(Eric), this would be. Hank and Diana both were older and they grinned at their friends but were not as bouncy. They both loved the game, but they also were the kind to be more serious and less bouncy.
When they got on the ride, it was everything they had hoped for, with special effects, a wild ride in a cave like area, and then... then it got weird. The car lurched up and away from the tracks and was flying!
And the whole next little while was insane. Arriving in a new world, their clothing changed when they landed, being attacked by a giant 5-headed dragon that they recognized from the game they had been playing as Tiamat, and then, as they fled, being attacked by Venger! Being saved by Eric's new shield, and by the strange being called Dungeon Master! What the heck?
Presto woke in a sweat, his mind reeling as new memories slid into place, and he felt like his head might split in two. He had a pouncing headache, and he remembering being a computer geek in the 1980's of all things! Of playing Dungeons and Dragons as a kid, and hanging out with these friends. And of arriving in the new world and meeting those things made real.
His brain seemed to shudder as he opened his eyes to his bedroom, which felt both familiar and strange. He sat up and reached for a glass of water, and as he did, he felt something odd.
He glanced over and spotted a small, ornate, and definitely not normal box. He picked it up and realized it was a stylized box of cards. One he had not had before this very moment. Fingers trembling, he opened it and pulled out the cards, feeling how they felt almost alive. He dropped them immediately, staring at them.
What the heck?
He shook his head and rolled out of bed, leaving the cards there to be dealt with later. As he did so, he realized he felt bruised and tired, and that the bruises matched with what he had felt in the dream. Oh hell...
He could not... what the heck?
Well... guess he was going to be one of the Valarnet dreamers after all...
