Who: Heather and Tony What: Tony comes to Miller's Meats When: Late August Where: Miller's Meats Rating/Warnings: Low/None Status: Complete
The trip back home to Texas had been just what Heather needed truth be told. She'd gotten to take a week to get to know her birth mother, and she also got to spend time with her adoptive parents. That had been nice, very nice, and Heather was planning on flying her adoptive parents and her real mom out there.
She'd learned a lot about where she came from, that she had some half siblings, and well she was interested in meeting more of her family. Getting back into the swing of things, however, had been easier said than done really. Heather still had a case of vacation brain, although she was trying to get past that.
Heather was up front at the counter when she heard the bell chime, and she glanced up. "Welcome to Miller's Meats, how can I help you today?"
The place was surprisingly empty, considering. Tony Stark stood in the lobby of the butcher shop, glancing around, checking in the glass cases, holding his cell phone in his hand. It was glowing green.
“Did you know your establishment is a Gym?” He asked, holding up the phone. “Not only that, but there are two Pokestops nearby one can reach from your lobby?”
"I...huh?" Heather's face screwed up into confusion before it finally dawned on her. So that was why there were a bunch of kids loitering outside from time to time. Things were starting to make perfect sense to her. With a laugh, Heather shook her head. "No, can't say that I did know any of that. What team has taken over the gym?" She asked curiously with a raised brow. If she knew maybe she could offer up some discounts or something, or you know, maybe play the game herself if she had any real inclination to do so.
“You should start selling soda by the can and individual bags of Doritos.” Tony said, unable to stop the smirk from tugging at his lips now. “Right now?” He glanced down at the phone. “Valor.” Funny, that. Totally appropriate, considering. “But I have a feeling those Instinct kids outside will take it in the next few minutes before they move on.”
Tipping her head to the side, Heather thought on that for a moment. "I probably should. I could make a killing." She really could, since there would probably be plenty of kids hanging around trying to take over the gym. "Nice, hopefully they'll manage to take it over." She wasn't on one side or the other, but perhaps she should download the app on her phone to see if she could do something about it to make some extra cash. That would be nice. "I'll have to download the app on my phone to keep up with things."
“It’s pretty easy to catch up on. A few quick Google searches and you’re golden.” Tony said, then clicked his screen off and pocketed his cell phone. He turned to the woman behind the counter and broke into a smile. “Hi. I should probably pick up some meat while I’m here.” Not that it wasn’t fun talking about Pokemon Go, or anything.
Heather gave a nod, she didn't think that she'd have any issues learning the game. "Sounds good. I'll look into it once I'm home." She would actually do that too, since hey, it might help her business out a little bit. With a laugh, Heather lifted a shoulder. "I think that you should yes, but I am a bit biased since this place is my baby." She couldn't help but smile, "So what can I get you?"
“Whatever you think is the most delicious, and easiest to cook.” Tony said, breaking into a little smirk. Because, hey, who wasn’t exhausted when they got home from work? Tony was busy most days helping run a multi-billion dollar, world-wide conglomerate, and inventing in his spare time. Whatever that meant. Oh, and the Dreams. They were a bit of a bummer, too. “I’ll eat almost anything.”
"Easy to cook eh?" Heather pursed her lips in thought, giving a small nod as she thought over options. "Pork Chops are easy enough, but steaks can be cooked very well on the stove top if they're thin enough and done right. I think I've got some cuts you might enjoy. Give me a minute to get things together for you." She pushed back away from the counter, moving toward the back. Heather slipped on a pair of gloves, and began getting together the cuts she thought he might like. Once everything was wrapped out in plain paper, and marks made onto the butcher paper as to what it was and when it was cut. Tossing the gloves into the garbage, Heather picked up a few recipe cards that she'd personally written out for different people that came into her shop. "Alright, so, here's the meat and here's a few ways you can cook it that are easy."
“Thanks.” While the woman was collecting up meat for him to purchase, Tony pulled his phone out of his pocket. He might as well hunt a few Pokemons while she was working. It wasn’t like he could help her or speed the process along. He spun the stop and attacked the gym, but then gave her back his attention when she wanted it. “Perfect.” He said. Tony wasn’t much of a cook, but he was trying to get better, and to eat healthier. “Thank you for your help today. What do I owe you?”
Heather offered him a smile, and gave a nod of her head in his direction as he said thank you. "You're welcome, and thank you for letting me know that this place is a gym." She had no intentions of changing that, but instead she was making plans on ways she could benefit from this bit of new information. Heather rattled off what he owed her, "Bit of a discount for the info and since you're a first time customer." She always tried to do right by the people that came to see her, offering a few discounts here and there for first timers or regulars so they'd have more of an incentive to come back.
Tony raised an eyebrow. It was a bit funny, wasn’t it? Giving Tony Stark a discount on anything? But he didn’t mind. It just meant he’d throw a twenty dollar bill into the tip jar. Did she have a tip jar? He paid, then accepted the package and lifted it as if in a toast. “Thank you. I’ll definitely be back another time.” He had plans to return. For sure. Not only because the meat looked good and at a good price, but there was a Gym nearby. Because Tony did that sort of thing.
