Myrcella and Jeremy had cheated and ordered take out that evening, Irisa was out and so it was just the two of them and Dragon who was sat contentedly by their feet while they were snuggled up on the sofa.
“We had interview shortlisting to do today and I think my brain has broken” Myrcella told Jeremy when there was a break in the programme they were watching, “I think we might get a pretty good replacement for me at the bookstore though, if the applications were anything to go by” Myrcella had handed in her notice since her beauty business was really taking off and she needed to dedicate more time to it but she had promised Tessa she would help her find a good replacement.
“How many people did you interview today?” Jeremy knew that there was stuff going on with Myrcella’s boss at home, but didn’t know the details. What he did know was that Tessa was lucky to have Myrcella around at the shop. “Was it just you or you and Tessa?”
“Oh no we just shortlisted today, the interviews will be the end of next week. But we’ve got five people on the list” she said, “Me and Tessa did the listing and then it’ll be all three of us doing interviews. Will is going to cover the shop front for us, I think it’s good to get him out of the house” she added softly.
“Gotcha. Let me know which day. If I’m not busy I’ll pick up lunch for you guys.” He figured that they would be too busy otherwise and he didn’t want them to miss lunch cause of the interviews.
“Thanks, you're the best” Myrcella said with a smile and a kiss to his lips. Having seen how worried Tessa and Will were Myrcella was acutely aware that if it were Jeremy she'd be lost, “How are things with you?”
Jeremy smiled and wrapped his arm around Myrcella’s shoulders, “It’s no problem. It’s the least I can do.” Jeremy wanted to do whatever he could to help out. “Things are good. Just been trying to figure out what to major in.” Jeremy knew that he should have figured that out by now, but it wasn’t as easy as some people made it out to be. He was determined to know what he was going to major in by the following semester.
“You’ll work it out” Myrcella told him, “I know you will. Maybe you just need to stop thinking about it for a while, do something different and give your brain a break” she suggested.
“I know. I mean, we can’t all be as lucky as you and know what we want to do from birth.” He smirked as he teased Myrcella and used the arm around her shoulder to ruffle her hair.
Myrcella laughed, “Mums to blame for that one, taking me to all those spa days” though she was fairly sure this wasn't what her mother had in mind.
“Hey, I’m sure she’s glad that you’re at least doing what you love, right?” At least Jeremy hoped that that was how Myrcella’s mother felt. Myrcella’s mother had always seemed so hard to please, but so far it didn’t seem like she had tried to meddle in her daughter’s life. After all, she had let her stay in Orange County when she’d moved back to England.
“I think so. I mean she doesn’t quite get why I want to look after others like that but she respects that I do love it so that’s the best I can hope for” she smiled, her mum was definitely easing up a little. She had her Uncle Renly to thank for his help in staying in America, thanks to him she was living her life as she wanted to.
“You’re her only daughter. Makes sense that she’d worry.” Jeremy’s parents had worried about him, but he thought that had less to do with him being the only boy and more to do with the skipping school and drugs. They might not have ever raided his room or came right out and asked him if he was doing drugs, but Jeremy wasn’t stupid and neither had his parents been. They all knew what was going on. “Hey, think you could trim my hair soon?” Jeremy liked his hair a little longer, but he’d recently realIzed that he’d let it go a little over the last few months.
Myrcella nodded, “I know and we should probably visit her soon, unless we’re stopped like last time” she smiled, since they’d been grounded by freak snow.
“Of course, I was going to ask you about that the other day” she said, running her hands through it. She had to admit she liked it longer too but she had noticed it was getting a little too long lately.
“Great minds think alike,” Jeremy smiled and leaned into her touch slightly; he enjoyed the feeling of Myrcella’s fingers in his hair. “And yeah, we can take a trip to England. We did get those vouchers from last time, so it shouldn’t be too hard. Maybe Thanksgiving break.” Classes would be starting soon and with the snow that usually hit in December, it seemed like the best time to travel was either before or after December.
“That’s a good idea” Myrcella said, with Thanksgiving not being a thing in the UK flights would probably be pretty good and it wouldn’t be too busy. “I’ll check with mum but anytime we go should be fine” Cersei really wanted to see her daughter and even if she was doing something she’d probably change her plans so that they could come over.
“Great.” No matter when they went it was going to be an interesting trip not just because of Myrcella’s mother, but because of her older brother too. Jeremy had gotten the impression that Joffrey hadn’t liked him much the very few times they’d met, “Hey, speaking of trips, what about if before the summer ends we go up to the cabin for a weekend. Invite some friends too.” His parents’ cabin was rarely used and Jeremy felt that they should remedy that.
Jeremy shouldn’t worry too much, Joffrey didn’t like anybody - his own brother and sister included half the time. He was a strange boy and Myrcella couldn’t say she missed him. Not like she did Tommen, she missed her younger brother a lot more.
“Oh that’s a great idea” she said with a smile and a nod, “It’s so beautiful there. And I bet our friends would love it there just as much as we do”
“Could invite Irisa, of course. And Caleb and Tyler and their girlfriends.” Jeremy hadn’t met Hannah yet and he knew Tyler was dating someone, but didn’t know who so it would be a good chance to get to meet both. “Anyone else you can think of?” They wouldn’t be able to invite everyone; at least not to stay the whole weekend, but whoever they invited would be free to come up even if it was just for a day.
“I don’t know if they’d come but maybe Tessa, Will and Jem would like to get away for the day. It might do them good to get out and about” Myrcella said, “I’ll ask Anna too, she’d definitely appreciate the scenery”
Jeremy nodded, “I think it’d be a nice gesture. Whether or not they accept it.” Leaning forward, Jeremy grabbed his phone off the coffee table and opened it up to the calendar, “Any weekends that aren’t good for you?” Jeremy’s schedule as far as weekends went were pretty open, so it was mostly up to Myrcella as far as deciding on a date.
Myrcella thought so too, she’d speak to Tessa as soon as they knew when they were thinking of going. She knew Capable would offer to look after the shop if Tessa did want to go.
“Next weekend I have a full day of clients” she said opening up her own phone calendar and holding it against Jeremy’s so they could see, “Looks like that one is the best option” she pointed to a weekend that was free for them both.
Jeremy nodded as he looked between their phones, “Looks good to me.” He’d probably drive up the weekend before to air the cabin out and get it ready considering it’d been a few months since he and Myrcella had been there and as far as he knew neither Katherine or Elena had been up there recently. “I’ll see if Caleb and Tyler are free that weekend.” And of course they’d mention it to Irisa when she got home.
“Great” Myrcella said with a smile, happy to have a little time away to look forward to. She loved the cabin and the time they spent there even if they didn’t get there as much as they’d both like to. “I’ll ask Irisa” she said snuggling into Jeremy happily.
