Who: Callisto and Shaw
When: August
Where: A bar
What: Looking for a fight
Rating/Warnings: Low/None
Status: Complete
This little encounter was coming about at a time when Callisto needed more outlets for her anger. She was becoming more and more unhinged from the dreams and the fact she was becoming more like her dream self. Especially after the ill-advised tumble in bed with Xena. It left her hurting, and she was doing everything in her power to cauterize the wound and bury her heart.
Sometimes her dream self got things right when it came to emotions. Love made a person weak, so she was in the process of making herself strong. So after dressing in leather pants, black tank top with some strategic rips in it and heavy boots, Callisto headed to the place where she’d be meeting Shaw. Her motorcycle was a black 2011 Yamaha Stryker.
Upon arriving, she killed the engine but remained sitting on her bike as she surveyed the area. She was partly looking for Shaw, and partly taking stock of who was around. The regulars that saw her pulled up probably already expected something to happen and she could only smirk a bit as she brushed a hand through her somewhat unruly mane of blonde hair.
Shaw was looking forward to getting out and about and letting off some steam. She could do with getting to know some good places to hang out and Callisto had seemed like her kind of person over the net.
Arriving at the bar she spotted the woman and made her way over, “Nice bike” she commented, “And you totally have the look down” she added with a grin. In fact Shaw was wearing something similar herself, she was just lacking the bike, “Good to meet you properly”
It definitely wasn’t hard to have the look down when Callisto was part of a biker gang. She just didn’t always vocalize that part. She grinned at Shaw, getting off her bike finally. “Thanks, I take care of it and it takes care of me.” To say the least, really.
“Good to meet you, too. And we’re in luck. Some of the rowdy crowd is starting to gather. Would you like a drink first?” Callisto could go either way. The only downside was that she couldn’t get drunk anymore, but she kept that under wraps.
Shaw definitely didn’t know that but when or if she found out she’d be pretty damn impressed. “Sounds like you both got lucky then” she grinned.
“Starting the night off with a drink wouldn’t be a bad way to begin” It took a lot to get Shaw drunk and she mostly didn’t let herself get to that part.
“I think we did, yeah.” Callisto agreed. She did love her bike, even if the gang sometimes gave her crap for having a Japanese bike instead of an American one, but she didn’t care. She enjoyed the look of the bike better, and that’s what mattered.
“This way. The drinks are better in here.” Callisto nodded towards the bar closest to them. She led the way in, some of the regulars inside seemingly getting uneasy when they saw Callisto. She just smirked at them and went up the bar and ordered a beer.
As far as Shaw was concerned the bike looked good and obviously ran well so what else was there to care about? She wasn’t precious about where things came from, if they worked the best what did it matter if it was American or not.
“Looks like you have a rep in here” Shaw said also smirking when she saw the looks, it just reinforced her view that Callisto was a good woman to know.
That was exactly Callisto’s feeling on the matter. The bike ran like a dream, and she loved the aesthetic, what else really mattered? But some people were just assholes like that, but she tended to silence them quickly enough if they dared open their mouths to her.
“Oh, I definitely do,” Callisto said with a grin. “Enough of one that they know not to pick a fight unless they’re looking for a real fight.”
“My kind of rep” Shaw said taking a drink with a smirk as she looked around, she liked it. There were a good mix of people, some who obviously just wanted to keep to themselves, some already checking out the girls at the bar and some who after a few drinks were exactly the sort they were hoping to run into.
“You got a rep like that, too?” Callisto asked. It was sometimes difficult to get Callisto’s interest, but Shaw definitely had it. Perhaps she could make a new friend. Which was saying something because Callisto wasn’t exactly the easiest person to be friends with.
“Back in New York yeah, there are a lot of bars I can’t go to anymore and a lot that want me there as a deterrent to start trouble” she grinned. Shaw didn’t have a crazy amount of friends either, she’d always struggled there because she didn’t seem to feel things quite as much as others did. She didn’t really do scared or worried or lonely but she did do anger. A lot of anger.
“Definitely my kind of woman. There’s a few bars across a few states that won’t let me in. Only the cool ones get banned from bars.” Callisto said with a chuckle. She totally understood the not feeling emotions. She didn’t feel much of anything other than anger. Every now and then she had bits of other emotions like love and pain, sometimes fear. Though she didn’t really feel fear now that she’d overcome her intense fear of fire. Though one kind of needed to when they could manipulate fire the way she could.
“We’re definitely the cool ones” Shaw said, lifting her glass towards her new friend with a nod. Emotions for Shaw were like a volume button turned way down low, it worked for her. She never really missed them and anger worked in her favour most places.
“To us,” Callisto toasted as she lifted her own glass to Shaw. She took a drink, finding some solace in this new friend. Not everyone understood Callisto. Not even Xena really understood the whole muted emotions thing or how she never really had casual sex. She just didn’t connect with people easily on an emotional level, and that was fine by her. “So how are you liking Orange County so far?” She wasn’t going to bring up the dreams as she didn’t know if Shaw was a dreamer or not.
Shaw finished her drink pretty quickly and called for another. Emotions had never really been a thing for Shaw, anger yeah but she never really felt anxious or sad or scared. It helped in the military but it made her a terrible doctor, according to her peers anyway. “It seems okay so far. Weather is pretty good, people don’t seem terrible” she smirked, “Few nut jobs on that network but I guess that’s the same everywhere”
Despite the fact she didn’t need to, Callisto was pacing herself with her alcohol. After all, it didn’t affect her at all, and she didn’t want to sit there and have five drinks and not even have a slight buzz. She didn’t like pretending to be drunk when she wasn’t. Though she moved to her second drink a couple minutes later. “There’s definitely nutjobs anywhere you go. Still, there are worse places to be in. There’s plenty of fun to be had around here once you learn your way around.” Callisto said with a smirk.
“That’s the plan. Doing well so far in that area” Shaw said, “And hey you can’t really complain about the weather here. So that’s a bonus” she grinned. Coming from New York she was used to good weather but also used to snow and freezing cold, that didn’t really seem like it was a case here.
“It is. You can definitely work on a natural tan most of the year.” Callisto chuckled a bit. She glanced over her shoulder long enough to eye the other patrons. Some people had left and new people had come in. And some of the new faces would only add to the fun once they were done with the drinks. She smirked before turning back to sip her drink. “The good crowd’s starting to come in. So, how much of a fight do you want to go for? A couple other of the regulars tend to show up about a half hour, they tend to make things more lively.”
Shaw had never been much of a tanned girl but she wasn’t going to pass up the odd chance to laze around on a beach, she’d be enjoying that part of living here as much as she could.
“I’ve got a lot of pent up energy” Shaw said, “And it’s been a while since I heard any bones break” she added with a wink. A proper fight would be welcome, she hadn’t been in the box for a while and missed the satisfaction of taking down an opponent.
A grin that was some blend of excited and eccentric crossed Callisto’s face. Shaw definitely spoke her language, and she was more than enjoying it. “Then we can kill the next half hour with drinks. Though when a guy who looks like Bigfoot’s long-lost brother comes through the door, that’ll be when we can start something.” The guy was so easy to pick a fight with, though he probably spent some time wondering how a skinny thing like Callisto could beat him and his goons up. But that was the beauty of an all-out bar brawl that spilled into the street, so many people got into it that it was nearly impossible to keep tabs on any specific person other than the one that was being directly engaged.
Nodding Shaw took another swallow of her drink and kept her eyes open for the bigfoot man to enter the bar and get things going. She could feel the adrenaline beginning to pump through her veins and her body hummed in anticipation of a very good night.
