Who: Paroline - Peeta and Caroline
What: Moving discussion while swimming
Where: Their apartment complex
When: Recent!
Rating: Low
Status: Complete

It was way too hot. Caroline was not a fan. All she wanted to do was jump in a nice cold pool. And now that she finally had a day off work that was exactly what she was going to do. She had a sundress over her bikini and practically dragged Peeta out of their apartment to the complex’s pool. “Come on,” she pouted as they walked through the complex. “It’s like a million degrees. All I can think about is getting this dress off.” And no that wasn’t meant to be sexual. Well not entirely.

“You do know that we have an ocean we can swim in,” Peeta pointed out to her with a smirk. He allowed himself to be dragged along rather easily because a day just hanging out by the pool really did sound nice. He would just have to wrap his prosthetic up in a towel to make sure it didn’t get any water on it, but he should be able to get around, “But don’t worry, I’ll make sure the dress comes off in a timely manner.”

“Yeah but today feels like a pool day,” Caroline responded giving him a look that said not to question her logic. “I’m not in the mood to get sandy or swim with random fishes. I just want you and some nice clear cool water.” She nodded her head decisively as they entered the pool area. Luckily they had the place to themselves. At least for the time being. Caroline didn’t waste anytime, dropping Peeta’s hand to yank her dress off over her head. “Too late I took care of it myself,” she teased.

He held his hands up in defense when she shot him that look, but a playful smirk was present on his face, “I get it. You really don’t have to waste all your breath explaining it to me. You’re cute when you get a little grumpy.” He enjoyed teasing her about things and it kept their relationship light, which was exactly what he loved about it. Being with Caroline was easy and he didn’t regret anything except making forgetting to text her after they initially met. Those thoughts were pushed aside when she peeled off her dress and he made a shout of encouragement, “Woo~ take it off. I’ll be there in a moment.” He had to sit down on one of the pool chairs to get his leg off before joining her.

“Correction. I’m cute all the time,” she teased right back. As crazy as this place got it was comforting to know she always had Peeta. And there would always be days like this, which is really all Caroline needed. “Don’t take too long,” she said with a smile tossing her dress at him before diving into the nice cool water. Much better.

“Mmmhmm,” he had to give a noncommittal answer because he obviously agreed with her because he did think she was cute all the time. The only downside to arguing with your partner was that they were usually right with things like that. A hand lifted up to catch her dress at the last second as it sailed by him and he tossed it onto the chair next to him. He finished taking his leg off and proceeded to hop over to the edge of the pool before jumping in next to her.

“About time,” Caroline said greeting him with a kiss. “Hey,” she said when she pulled away. “Want to see something cool?” Actually she had never tried it before but she wanted to. And who better to try it with than Peeta. Although if it didn’t work she’d have to think of something else to show him.

“Excuse me, it takes a moment,” Peeta rolled his eyes at her and smiled as he got to her and returned the kiss, “And sure? Why wouldn’t I ever say no to that? It usually leads to something interesting.” He had no idea what in the world she was going to do, but at least it wouldn’t be too strange if it could be done in a pool? His curiosity was getting the better of him.

“I don’t know. If you suddenly got stupid,” she teased before giving him one more quick kiss. Then she took off. Swimming the length of the pool a few times at vamp speed. “Hey!” She said from the other end of the pool. “It works underwater,” and then she was gone again back at Peeta’s side in less than a second. “So next time we swim in the ocean I can outswim the sharks that want to chase me.”

Woah. He had not been expecting her to be able to use her vampire speed in the water as well. It made for an interesting sight because she seemed almost predatory in the water. A shark probably wouldn’t want anything to do with her when she was doing that in the ocean, “Wow. Man, you will put Blake Lively to shame with your ability to get out of a shark attack. How did you know that you could do this?”

“I didn’t,” Caroline said laughing. She was quite proud of herself. “I’ve never seen myself swim in the dreams and I’ve never tried it here. I figured who better to try it with?” Maybe another vampire, but whatever she’d rather be with Peeta. “You know what else I can do?” without even waiting for Peeta’s response she picked him up tossing him into the deep end of the pool.

And suddenly he was flying through the air. He was never going to get used to Caroline being this strong especially when she looked like just a normal girl. Once he surfaced he shook his head and let out a laugh, “That is so not fair. I think we might have to implement a now powers in the pool rules when it comes to throwing me.”

“No fair!” Caroline pouted swimming back over to him. “But fine. I guess we can find something else to do,” she teased going in for another kiss.

When she came in for the kiss he moved to kiss her back and then wrapped his arms around her and dunked her underneath the water. Oh yes, he was getting her back a little for what she just did. She would react quickly enough, so he started to swim away so she couldn’t get him back right away.

Caroline recovered fast popping right back out of the water. “Hey!” she exclaimed swimming after him. “That’s so not what I meant by something else to do!” But she did stick to her word, not using her powers, chasing after Peeta at normal speed, splashing at him as she caught up.

A smirk was given when she chastised him once she was back above the water. He couldn’t help but laugh as he swam away from her and she chased after him. It was definitely a lot of fun to be spending time with her in the pool instead of just hanging around the apartment. He finally slowed down and let her catch him with a laugh.

“Oh you think this is funny?” she gave him her most serious face before bursting into laughter herself. Because okay it was kind of funny. But more importantly she was having fun. It was days like this when she fell for Peeta even more. “I was totally going to let you do me in the pool but now I’m rethinking my decision,” she splashed at him again, trying her best to look frustrated though her laughter clearly said otherwise.

“I think it’s hilarious. And I don’t think that’s very family friendly to do that in the pool,” he was incredibly tempted, but they did have to worry about the possibility of another tenant coming out and wanting to use the pool. It just made him want to get their own place and hopefully one with a pool. He moved closer to her, wrapping his arms around her waist, and pulled her close before giving her another kiss.

“Fine,” Caroline pouted wrapping her hands around his neck. “I guess I can wait.” Though that was easier said than done when her boyfriend was shirtless, and wet. Who knew swimming would be such a turn on. “It’s too bad we don’t have our own pool,” she mumbled against his lips before going in for another kiss, fingers running through his damp hair.

“We can try to get up here late at night,” Peeta compromised with her and grinned a little as she came back over for another kiss. This was not going to end well if a child came into the pool area right now, “Hey, we could buy a house at some point.” It would have to be once she graduated and got a job though because it wouldn’t work well for them to buy a place while she was still in school. His hands ran along her sides under the water and nuzzled her cheek gently.

“I think we definitely need to do that,” Caroline agreed wrapping a leg around him. “Because I’ve actually never been skinny dipping before.” Shocking she knew considering she was the cliche popular and slutty girl back in high school. But it was true. She was about to give him another kiss when she heard his second statement. “A house?”

“Well, either in the pool or we can go skinny dipping in the ocean,” was his suggestion. He had gone skinny dipping as a young recruit in the military, but he hadn’t done it recently. It would be a lot of fun to do it with Caroline out in the ocean or here in the pool, “And yeah, eventually. Not right now since you’re not out of school yet. But something for the future.”

They could do both. They had plenty of nights ahead of them. Especially with Peeta talking about getting a house. “So in a year?” Caroline asked her eyes lighting up. “Because I could really use a bigger closet.” What? She had a lot of clothes and Peeta had won out on the guest room. “And…” she paused placing her lips next to his ear. “Then we can go skinny dipping every night,” she smirked at him before swimming away.

“Do you want to get a house in a year?” Peeta was a little surprised that she had readily agreed to the idea of buying a house. She had come a long way from when they first started seeing each other, “And yeah, yeah, I know all about your closet wants.” It was going to turn into some weird episode of House Hunters where the number one item was a very large walk-in closet. But she made a good point with the skinny dipping and he let out a laugh when she swam off.

Peeta wasn’t the only one surprised that she had agreed so easily. Okay Caroline wasn’t really surprised by it. Moving in with him the first time had been a much bigger deal. Now that they had been living together, even talked about marriage thanks to Alaric’s ring, she knew this was a forever thing. Or until Peeta died but she didn’t like thinking about that.

She stopped swimming a few feet away turning to face him, and splash at him again. “Yup. As long as it has a big closet I’ll get a house with you in a year.” Because Peeta was right that was the number one necessity followed by a pool. “I can start planning now!” How much they needed to save each month. A list of all the things they would want in their house. All that. Planning and organization were her thing.

“Planning by figuring out how we’re going to save the money,” Peeta called out to her with a laugh after he returned the splash of water at her, “Alright, let’s stop discussing and just have some fun.” He quickly swam over to her to grab her and pull her into the water with him so they could continue to have some fun.
