Who: Caleb Rivers and Hanna Marin What: Time jump dreams. (Jordan and Spaleb? No thank you.) Cue awkward Haleb When: 6 August 2016 - Morning Where: Caleb’s apartment Warnings: None Status: Log | Complete
When Caleb woke up his head was spinning. What the fuck was going on in Rosewood? So many shocking things had happened. More shocking than A turning out to be Cece. First Hanna was engaged, and not to him, but to some random Australian. How the hell had that happened? And then he hooked up with Spencer? SPENCER?! Of all people, Hanna’s best friend? What the hell was he thinking? Why was he off with Spencer when she should be trying to get Hanna back.
He woke up just after dreaming of the hook up with Spencer. He felt dirty. It didn’t help that Hanna was actually right next to him in bed. Even if it was just the dreams it felt like he was cheating on her, like he had betrayed her. Luckily she was still asleep. Caleb quietly got out of bed not wanting to wake her. He didn’t even know what to say to her right now. What if she had dreamt it too? He didn’t even want to consider that right now. No, now all he wanted was to get in the shower and wash his dreams off of him.
To say Hanna was confused by the latest dream? That would be an understatement. Or no. There were answers there, she just didn’t want to think about them and was instead more focused on the fact that of freaking course there was another murder in Rosewood now that the girls were all back because of Ali wanting them to testify at Charlotte’s release hearing. Really, it was easier to focus on that than the other things. Things she was going to desperately try to ignore.
For now, though? Sleep. Though she did grumble in annoyance as she felt Caleb leave the bed though she didn’t actually wake up beyond a brief opening of her eyes where she noted the time before closing them again. So she wasn’t awake, or asleep. Not completely. Instead she just turned and grabbed his pillow since he had decided to be rude and leave her.
It was that half sleep mode where she was more or less aware of her surroundings but not actually awake. She heard the shower and it lulled her further back to sleep.
Caleb spent a lot longer than usual in the shower. Once he was out he still felt dirty, and guilty. But he couldn’t spend forever in there. Especially with Hanna over. So instead he walked into the kitchen and began making breakfast for the two of them. Maybe if he spoiled her enough he’d feel better. After all he hadn’t done anything wrong. Just his idiot dreamself.
The turning off of the water seemed to be what finally made Hanna officially wake up. Blinking tiredly, she noted the time and was confused at how it had seemed a longer shower but whatever. If he had wanted a shower, that was fine. She hadn’t had coffee yet, which meant she wasn’t completely awake as she made her way down to the kitchen, still in an oversized night shirt from the night before.
“Morning.” Kissing him tiredly, Hanna turned to where the coffee machine was. Coffee was a lifeline, okay? Even on lazy weekend mornings.
There was already a pot going because Caleb always needed caffeine. But after a night of horrible dreams? It was even more of a necessity. “Morning,” he replied returning her kiss though not with the same amount of passion he usually did. Even for a lazy weekend morning.
“I’m making eggs,” he said turning his attention back to the frying pan. “But if you want something else I can make that too. Well, only if it’s pancakes.” He didn’t have a waffle iron.
Okay. Odd. But too tired to care, there was coffee to be had and well, lazy weekend, it wasn’t that bad. Just odd. Right now, her attention was more on the coffee anyway. Sweet delicious coffee and caffeine to start off the day.
“Eggs are good.” Really, she didn’t need that much. So if it was eggs and coffee? That was a good enough morning for her. Shuffling to the table, she noticed Techno and scratched him behind his ears, pulling up her phone to see if there was anything super newsworthy or not.
Caleb finished preparing breakfast, dividing the eggs onto two separate plates. He walked over to the table handing one to Hanna. “Good dreams?” he asked trying his best to sound casual about the whole thing. He knew Hanna had recently dreamed about Cece being A so she really did deserve a break. He also had a feeling if Hanna had dreamed what he just had she’d seem a little more upset.
“Besides Cece suddenly being murdered because that’s what happens in Rosewood and trying to figure out who did it? Sure.” After all, honesty. And while there was that underlying issue. The past. Jordan. She didn’t know about Spencer yet and well, Hanna was doing her favorite game of ignoring what she didn’t want to think about. “You?”
Caleb froze fork halfway to his mouth. Hanna was a lot farther into the dreams than he was expecting. Did she know about him and Spencer? Granted he had no clue if dream!Hanna even knew about them considering his dreams ended right after he slept with Spencer. There was no rushing off to call Hanna in there.
“Uh, yeah,” he finally said bringing the fork the rest of the way to his mouth. “Basically the same,” he agreed after swallowing. “I’m not all that broken up about it.” As in Charlotte’s death.
Okay…. Odd reaction for Caleb to have. Though perhaps not given the state of their relationship in the dreams. But again, Hanna was decidedly not thinking about that and focusing on the annoying fact that once again they were dealing with a murder mystery and ended up in the middle of it, even though they’d all been together.
Well Aria had slipped out to talk with Ezra apparently. Ugh. If it wasn’t one thing, than it was another.
“I’m not either. Not really. I’m just annoyed that we’re stuck in the middle of yet another murder mystery in that stupid town.” Hanna had always been the one after the Dollhouse pushing to just move forward. She was the one who said that the world wouldn’t end if you turned off your phone every so often. She thought she was doing better in the dreams and then they were suddenly back in the same situation. Admittedly she didn’t know how it would turn out as it was still new. Didn’t change the fact it was annoying though.
“Yeah,” Caleb agreed. “At least Toby is a cop now and knows more about you guys. He’ll have your back.” Although Toby wasn’t exactly the best cop. Yeah Caleb was friends with the guy, but he wasn’t too bright. He did get high on Spencer’s gummy bears and shoot Lorenzo. He also had the sinking feeling Toby wasn’t going to be Caleb’s biggest fan anymore. The whole sleeping with his ex thing. The thought brought a frown to Caleb’s face. “I’m not a fan of seeing you engaged to another guy either.” Or of seeing him with another girl. He needed another shower.
“Because that helped us before?” Honestly. They still got screwed over by Cece even with Toby as a cop who actually knew about A and all that drama. Hanna wasn’t so sure about that, but it was something at least. Someone that they could trust who if they got caught up in more old habits would at least understand why. Hopefully.
Oh. And bringing up Jordan. Which caused her to press her lips together briefly before shaking her head. “I’m doing everything to ignore that, thanks. I’d rather figure out the stupid murder thing.” Because that was just the way she rolled. Or at least was doing her best to.
Well… no. But at least Toby wouldn’t go around accusing them of murder like the other Rosewood cops liked to do. But now wasn’t the time to argue about Toby. “Me too,” he agreed. Because thinking about her engagement, his new relationship, it made sick. Suddenly he wasn’t so hungry anymore. He set his fork down pushing his plate aside. “I’m going to go take a shower.” And no that wasn’t an invitation for her to join him. Even if it was sort of their thing and normally he would jump at the idea. Right now it just felt wrong.
Because who wanted to think about to think about the way their relationship ended? Hanna certainly didn’t. And she was determined not to think about it. Not that her plans for focusing on normal or the like ever really worked out in her favor. But then Caleb was saying he was going to take a shower and her brows knit forward in confusion. “Um, didn’t you already take one like an hour ago?”
“Uh, yeah. But I need another.” He wasn’t quite sure how to explain it nor did he want to try right now. He needed to process all this new information still. “You go ahead and finish breakfast,” he said as he stood up, stopping to give her a quick kiss before heading back to shower.
