Baby practically bounced into the back employee entrance at The Need/Want, a bright smile on her face as she happily hummed some nameless tune under her breath. She had no complaints, even if she had woken up soaking wet from her dreams since she had to crawl through a fucking drainpipe to get to safety.
What-the-fuck-ever. At least she and Otis had managed to escape the cops, and now? They were trying to find a car. Baby sat her bag down, and checked herself out in the mirror. She did have one person she wanted to go check in on, and so she turned away from her station and headed to the boss's office. Upon arriving outside the door, she rapped her knuckles against the door, "It's Baby!" She called, a bright smile still on her face.
Kenya looked up from her paperwork, and smiled. “Come on in, Baby.” she called back as she set the papers aside. She liked Baby, she liked most of her employees, but Baby was one of the more social ones. She wasn’t scared of her boss, and that made Kenya pleased. Kenya didn’t try to scare people, but when your de facto bodyguard and something of a better half was a scary Russian Vor, well, people were easily scared.
Slender fingers tapped lightly on the desk before she tucked her phone away. “How are you doing tonight dear?” she smiled as she stretched upwards and pushed away from the desk. “I’m glad to see you.”
Baby only entered once she was given the go ahead. She knew better than to just barge in, after all, Kenya might be having a meeting or doing something else important. Baby didn't consider Kenya to be just her boss, but a friend and so she opened up the door and grinned over at her.
"I'm fantastic!" She replied with a bright grin as she moved over to plop down into a chair across from her desk. "It's good to see you too. So, how have you been?" Baby asked, raising a brow as she crossed one leg over the other.
Kenya shrugged a little. “If I had known of these Dreams I'd have never come here.” she sighed a litle but smiled anyways. “I’m glad you’re doing good then.” Kenya didn’t cultivate friends, not really, but Baby had wiggled right on in and she found she didn’t mind. Her only good friends were Stahma, Alak, Nikolai and so on.
“I’m good, though, pondering another trip out of town with Nikolai.” she smiled faintly. “And working to find people to help make Alak feel more comfortable in his skin.” she loved that boy.
"I don't think a lot of people would've come here either, to be honest." Baby didn't like to talk about her dreams to many people. Wade was an exception, and Kenya had started to be one. She didn't believe that her boss would judge her for the bloody and brutal dreams that she'd had since she wasn't some crazy here.
"You should do that! Wade and I have been talking about taking a vacation sometime this year." She was rather looking forward to it too since she'd never had a proper one. "Oh yeah? Poor thing." She'd met Alak at the Need/Want a few times in the past, and he always seemed sweet. "I hope you find people to help him out with that."
Kenya sighed softly. “Mine seem to get more and more confusing as the time goes on and I’d rather just ignore them.” she wouldn’t ever judge her friend. She knew that the dreams presented themselves to people in different ways.
Nikolai was away, on business, and it was driving Kenya nuts. She preferred him near by but for now. She’d manage. “Alak is a good kid, he worries too much, but I’ve been trying to help him navigate the dreams - we’re apparently from the same place.”
Pursing her lips, Baby let out a long breath. "Mine are pretty fucked up." Baby admitted with a shrug of her shoulders. There wasn't much else to tell really in regards to them. Baby honestly didn't want to talk too much about them, since well, she didn't need people thinking that she was that crazy in real life.
"Really?" Baby replied, canting her head slightly to the side. There were people that she knew in real life that were in her dreams, but she knew that they didn't share the dreams. It was interesting to her that people could share the same dream space, "He'll eventually grow up and learn to not worry so much. I mean, there's nothing any of us can do about the dreams, and I feel that eventually they'll end." Baby had no idea how her's were going to end, although she was certain that it wasn't going to be pretty.
“He will. I know he will. I worry is all. He is my godson after all. It’s my job to worry.” She smiled then sighed as she looked at the clock. “Guess we should get to work and stop lollygagging around?” Not that she wanted to, but things must be done.
Kenya smiled. “We should do this more often though.” She smoothed her hair down and hot ban to her feet. “Thank you I appreciate this.”
"Of course, I can get it." Baby knew how important family, or even adoptive family was in the world. She did worry about her own folks back home, but there was little that she could do for them. Letting out a soft sigh, Baby nodded and then stood. "We probably should." Baby had no issues working, however, she was happy to spend time with her friend.
"Anytime, and sure, I'll stop by your office next time with something yummy." Baby would try to bring her something the next time she stopped by her office. "Just let me know if you'd like anything specific." She flashed Kenya a grin, and then headed out, still with a bounce in her step.
Kenya grinned. “Coffee and gossip works you know.” She watched her leave then closed the door behind them and headed to the floor to finish the prep for the night. It was nice taking a break with a friend.
She was pleased that some of her employees were trying to be friends. It felt good to be appreciated like that.
