Now that all the craziness of the holiday weekend was over, thankfully BB2 hadn’t been damaged or even really bothered at all, Izzy was now able to focus on their new summer cookies range.
She had a few Independence Day cookies left so she was giving those away with coffees and teas. A lot of people had stayed in their homes until the danger had passed and Izzy couldn’t really blame them.
Laying out the new summer designs she smiled as the bell went over the door and looked up, “Welcome to Baxter’s Bakery Two” she greeted.
Sirius hadn't expected the Fourth to go the way that it had with fighting Dementors and other things that kept coming through. Still, he'd made the best of it, and was planning on throwing a summer bonfire later on in the month. Perhaps after he and Lily got back from their little getaway before school started back.
He glanced up as he pushed the door to Baxter's Two, and he smiled at the greeting. "Hey there, I was wondering if you had any of those Independence Day cookies left?"
“You’re in luck” Izzy said, “Apparently demons keep people away from coffee and cookies so we have some left and they will still be good for a day or so” she told him with a smile.
"Then it's my lucky day!" Sirius replied with a chuckle. He wouldn't have wished the feeling of being around Dementors on anyone, but thankfully he and Lily had made it out okay. Still, he'd been rather shaken up after the fact. "I'll need a sparkling latte, and a few of those cookies." He paused for a moment, wondering if she was the young woman he's spoken with on the network, "I spoke to someone about beach themed cookies. I'm not sure if that was you or someone else though."
“Indeed it is and since we’re giving them free with any sparkling drink it’s even luckier” she told him with a smile, starting to work on the drink while she indicated to a colleague that she should pack up the cookies.
“Oh that was me, we did some designs, I was hoping you’d come by” she said, finishing the latte before moving to show him the cookies. “We did a range, so bucket and spade, sun, beachball, flipflops and a surfboard”
Sirius had grown quite fond of the sparkling lattes if he was being honest, although he'd been a bit skeptical at first about trying them.
"Ah, well good then." Sirius replied with a bright smile, moving over to look at the cookies that they'd prepared. They, as per usual, looked amazing and would work rather well for what Sirius had in mind. "Those look amazing." He glanced over at her, "I'll be happy to take several dozen of those whenever you get a chance. I'm sure my customers will appreciate them." At least, Sirius thought that they would. "I'm Sirius Black, by the way." He finally remembered his manners and introduced himself.
Most people who actually tried the latte’s ended up loving them, even if the workers at the bakery had to keep reassuring people that it was completely harmless and the glitter effect was an effect and not actual glitter.
“I’m glad you like them” Izzy said, “I can get those ready for Monday if you’d like?” she offered. As she finished off making the latte and placed it in front of him alongside the box of independence day cookies before holding out her hand, “Isabelle Lightwood, manager of BB2, but please just call me Izzy”
They'd become a favorite of Sirius's, even though they were a bit out of the norm, they were quite delicious.
"That sounds great to me." Sirius replied with a smile over at her, and then stuck out his own hand. "Nice to officially meet you, Izzy." Sirius was glad to be able to put a face with the person that he'd been speaking with on the network. "But yeah, I'll swing by to pick those up on Monday then." Sirius fished his wallet out of his back pocket, along with some money before putting it back. "I'm actually free that day, well, no I do have a lesson at 1. So I'll be in before then if that works? If not, I can swing by after."
“You too” she said as she shook his hand, “Great, before 1 works for me. I’ll make sure I’m here and that the cookies and fresh and ready to go” she promised.
Pulling his hand back, Sirius gave a small nod of his head. "Sounds brilliant. I can't wait." Really he couldn't wait to give them out to his customers, and help get the word out about Baxter's some more. He'd seriously become a walking billboard for them lately. "I'll also take a chocolate croissant if you have any left."
Izzy was thankful to each and every one of their customers, most especially the loyal ones. They worked hard to be a place people felt welcomed and of course where they could get quality food and drink. “Absolutely” she said popping one in a bag for him.
Sirius was feeling rather lucky as she put one of the croissants into a bag for him. So far the day was going well, and he could only hope that it would continue to go that way for him. "Thank you." He replied, and then paid what he owed. "I'll see you on Monday, Izzy." He took his food and drink in hand, and with a small smile headed out the door.
