Hill scrambled her way up to the top of the roof, squinting at the gap. It wasn't that far. She was sure she could make it if she got a running start.
Well, mostly sure. But this was a new vigilante, obviously, and she wasn't about to let them get away. One anonymous 'crime fighter' with no oversight was enough.
She backed up as far as she could, taking off at a run and launching herself across the gap. Time seemed to move in slow motion as she jumped, a terrible fear curling in her stomach that she'd overestimated her own abilities.
It was close, but she hit the gravel-covered roof with a roll, before quickly scrambling to her feet.
