Despite the fact that Mary’s foot was tapping, she was in no rush to head back to the office. Aside from the overwhelmingly eager greeting Janine would no doubt throw at her, there was a project waiting for her to finish. She was working with a local grocery store to help boost the sales of their economy brands and it was proving more difficult that she’d first imagined. Apparently, lower cost wasn’t incentive enough for some customers. At least here, standing in line, there would be a reward for her time spent.
With an arched eyebrow, she turned to look at the man who had spoken. He didn’t lack for handsomeness, a fact that, if she were being honest, made her more endeared to the exchange. Just because she wasn’t eating didn’t mean she couldn’t look at the menu, at least until it was time to put her order in -- coffee order, that was.
“We’re jumping straight into hell? No limbo or purgatory?” A smirk grew on her lips as she spoke. “What could we have possibly done to deserve this?”
