Who: Tony Stark and Chuck Bass When: June Where: Club What: Random Encounter Rating/Warnings: Low/None Status: Complete
Tony Stark was celebrating. He hadn’t talked to Pepper about it yet, but he found out that she was alive. She lived through the ordeal on the Oil Rig, and he’d destroyed all his suits because she asked him to. (Which, he could really understand. Tony was difficult in this world, but in the Dream World? He was impossible.) And then the surgery to get the arc reactor (and all the shrapnel that made it necessary) removed. When Tony woke up that morning, he lifted a hand to his chest in surprise and hope… but the arc reactor remained. He was used to the glow under his shirts, so it wasn’t too disappointing that the thing was still there.
But Pepper was alive. She was alive. That called for a celebration. Tony went to work with a bounce in his step, made plans to reverse engineer and then produce a pair of gauntlets (and chose the poor sap willing volunteer who would have to sit with his hands in plaster), and then finished work and went out for dinner and drinks on his own. He quickly picked up a couple of beautiful girls, and bought a round of drinks for the whole club.
Chuck wasn’t going to lie. Most nights he would stop by Victrola. Not always spending his entire evening there, he liked to look elsewhere for someone to take home. Chuck rarely mixed business with pleasure. However there were nights where he didn’t stop by the club at all going straight to one upscale bar or club or another. Chuck Bass enjoyed the finest of things. No dive bars for him thank you very much.
Tonight was one of those nights. He was at one of his favorite clubs (other than Victrola of course) when the bartender announced Tony Stark was buying a round for the club. While Chuck could certainly afford his own drinks, (hell he could buy a round for the club if he wanted as well) he did appreciate the gesture and had a feeling something happened to put Tony in such a generous mood. A bit curious Chuck made his way to the older man, a female already on his arm. “Look who we have here,” he said with a small smirk.
It was far too much effort to try and find an evening companion who could at least attempt to keep up with Tony Stark on an intellectual level. So he picked the pretty ones. He had one sitting beside him, too, laughing at all of his jokes (even ones that weren’t particularly funny) and hanging on his every word. When the younger businessman came over, Tony turned and gave him a lopsided grin. “If it isn’t Chuck Bass. How are you, my boy?” He asked, and lifted his glass in a toast.
“Clearly not as good as yourself,” Chuck said lifting his own drink, not only in response to the toast but in reference to the fact that Tony had bought drinks for everyone. “What’s the occasion?” he asked taking a sip, the blonde still hanging on his arm.
“Pleasant Dreams,” Tony supplied. But that was all he wanted to say on the subject. He found the more he dwelled on the Dreams, the more he suffered from it. It was best to just learn what he could, and then let the rest go. He lifted his drink in a toast, then sipped, turning his attention to the pretty blond on Chuck’s arm. “You seem to be having a fairly pleasant night yourself.”
Ah, dreams. Not something Chuck particularly enjoyed talking about either. Granted his were mostly just about reliving his high school experience with some bitch gossiping about him but still. So no he wasn’t going to make Tony dwell on his either. Dreams were something Chuck would rather forget existed.
“I always have a pleasant night,” Chuck replied with a smirk. “Perks of being Chuck Bass.” The girl on his arm giggled. She wasn’t exactly the brightest but she was gorgeous and that was all that mattered really.
“Hear hear,” Tony said, lifting his glass as if in a toast. He could definitely get in with this pleasant night business. So long as it involved lots more drinks and beautiful women.
