Anakin was finally feeling stable enough to get out of his house, or so he thought. He’d spent all week inside trying to ignore the stressed brains of college students until finally it reached a middle. Finally he had to get away, college exams week was hell enough as it was but at this rate he was going to fail. No way around it. He couldn’t even hear himself think at this rate, he wa hearing everyone else think. Or feel rather if he was going to be technical about it.
The dark haired boy put away his books and things to the side of his desk for the moment and pulled on a light jacket. Aside from the internet telling him he didn’t have any idea what the weather outside was, he’d been focusing so hard on the screen of his laptop he thought his brain might actually explode. Thoughts ontop of thoughts piled up on him. Anakin quickly exited the dorms. He just kept walking, not exactly caring where as long as it was away from the voices and emotions.
Finally the longer he walked the more distant they became. He began to feel a little relief. A little was better than nothing. When he looked up he recognized the place he was in, also good things. Sometimes he walked so far lately to get away he didn’t recognize the area he wound up in. It was a small botanical park. Filled with flowers and birds and the like. It was almost peaceful. Anakin could definitely use a little peace at that point. He’d felt so much pressure a little bit of blood had gathered at the corners of his eyes. He was getting used to that oddly. He didn’t quite know how to filter it out yet, but he was getting there. He sat on a bench, attempting to rub it away.
Nearby there were people with blankets and picnics, but Anakin really didn’t notice them. His vision a bit blurry from the blood. He wished he’d thought to bring a tissue or something, but he hadn’t.
Poe may not have been active duty anymore, but he liked to try and keep in shape. He wouldn’t want all that hard work to go to waste. So on a nice day like this, he was out for a run. Orange County was not wanting for parks, and Poe liked to switch it up. He parked a bit away and went at it, going steady until he felt like he was due for a bit of a rest and a water break.
There was a bench with just one person on it. Poe slowed to a walk as he neared it, then sat back on it with a deep breath in. It wasn’t until he pushed his slightly sweaty hair off his face that he glanced at the guy sitting next to him, and he frowned. “Hey - are you okay?”
Anakin had noticed Poe before he’d even sat down, part of him thought to get up and leave but his body disagreed. He was tired from everyone else's emotions. Fortunately from his new bench mate he didn’t feel much radiating off him just yet, but everything was all jumbled. It was hard to distinguish sometimes.
Glancing up he nodded. “I’ll be fine.” But in spite of his words, there was a little more blood than that indicated. He used his sleeves to try to stop it. “Sorry..” He didn’t really know why he apologized but it was the first thing that came to mind. It must look weird, or frightening or something. Hell, it was frightening, but he didn’t really give off the impression that he was afraid. He was eerily calm in fact for someone bleeding from their eyes.
“Uh.” Poe didn’t look convinced. He knew Orange County was weird, but this was definitely not the definition of fine. Not even close. And, given that he was out on a run, he didn’t even have anything to offer to help clear up the blood.
But rather than sit there in an awkward silence (because that wasn’t really Poe’s thing), he thought for a moment, then raised his eyebrows. “Is this a dream thing?” Poe figured that if the guy thought dream thing sounded crazy, then he’d just leave, but he had a hunch that this was exactly that.
What else did he say? Naw just bleeding to death, I’m cool? He was relieved when it seemed to dry up a bit on his sleeves but annoyed that it did so. “ I liked this shirt.” He muttered as he lowered his hands to his lap and looked at them sheepishly. That was awkward. How did he even begin to explain that one?
“That depends on whether or not you think it’ be weird if I said yes.” He didn’t look up at the other man just yet. He didn’t really want to see the look of confusion that was probably there at his admittance of weird OC dream things.
“Honestly, the only way this wouldn’t be weird is if it’s a dream thing.” Poe raised his eyebrows. Maybe this guy didn’t want to be bothered, but Poe couldn’t leave. Not until he thought the guy was all right. “Is there anything I can do to … Make it not do this?”
“...Yeah, okay you’ve got a point there.” He gave him a flicker of a smile. It was kind of a relief really, that statement. “Not really, but water helps. Could you fill this? Moving doesn’t really.” He admitted as he pulled out a nearly empty water bottle from his coat. “If you don’t mind I mean.” There was a fountain not too far, but Anakin really didn’t enjoy the idea of moving for it just yet when his vision was obscured the way it was.
“Yeah, hey, no, I got this.” Standing up, Poe took the bottle and jogged over to the fountain. He kept glancing over his shoulder, to make sure the poor man didn’t pass out or something. Poe’s level of first aid didn’t really cover situations like that. When he returned, he handed over the bottle. “Is that good?”
Nodding as he took the bottle. “Thanks. Heh this is the least fun thing I’ve received from the dreams. Not sure if you knew but they ‘gift’ us things sometimes. “ He didn’t have a rag or anything so for the time being he used a bit of the water on a sleeve to clean the mess the empathy spike had created on his eyes. “I’m an empath. If it gets too overwhelming it ends up like this...it just...hasn’t before. In public.” He frowned at mess left behind on his shirt sleeve. “I liked this shirt.” He said with a hint of amused annoyance. “I’m Anakin by the way..Anakin Solo.”
Poe was about to say that he hadn’t gotten anything yet, but he hoped he would, when the name makes him pause. Anakin. Anakin Solo. It wasn’t a name he’d heard in his dreams - well, not together, anyway. “Sorry,” Poe said, clearing his throat. He was probably staring. “I’m Poe. It’s good to met you. Did you say Anakin Solo? Like - As in Han Solo?”
“You too. I really don’t know many people yet. Gets kind of hard getting out with this…” He motioned to where the blood used to be on his face, it had cleaned up fairly well with just the water and he was glad. He looked a little more human then. “Uh huh, that’s my dad..at least in the dreams. He’s not really here.” The brunette responded with a slight raised eyebrow. “Why?”
“Uh.” Poe frowned. He only knew one Solo kid, in the dreams, but maybe … Well. He supposed a man like Han Solo could get around. But the name Anakin suggested that he belonged to Leia, too. “I know him. Sort of. In my dreams. Know of him mostly. I fly under General Leia Organa.”
“That’s my mom. In the dreams I mean. “ It had been sort of hard to disconnect them lately with the Force pulling at him whenever she was near, but he tried. “Here, my dad is her bodyguard.” He kind of traveled with her at times, but it wasn’t the same dynamic. It helped in the whole separation thing. “It’s pretty different for me here vs. there which is probably good I guess? I also have two older twin siblings there but not here. Both Jedi also.”
