Who: Bubbles & Lexi
When: Memorial Day!
Where: Stefan, Lexi, and Anna's place
What: Lexi is checking to see what sort of a girl Bubbles is because that's what friends do. You're welcome, Stefan.
Rating/Warning: It's pretty PG except for the mentions of possible heads being ripped off and vampire shenanigans.
Status: Complete

Lexi had been a little skeptical about Stefan’s idea to have a party so soon after he’d quit drinking human blood, but she had to admit that he was doing really well and didn’t appear to be headed for a relapse. She knew that the whole werewolf bite thing had really shaken him so she couldn’t exactly fault him for going off the rails a little bit. Either way, she was happy that she’d been able to help him, once again, get off the human stuff and she was able to enjoy herself at the Memorial Day cookout/party. So far she’d kept her distance from Damon despite part of her wanting to cause some sort of bodily harm to him. Yes, Lexi still disliked her best friend’s brother and she didn’t see a way that that would ever change.

She distracted herself from Damon by talking to her other friends had come to the party and was heading towards a cooler to get another drink when she saw the blond girl that Stefan had been dating lately. She had met Bubbles not too long ago when she had come over to see Stefan during his self imposed house arrest and while she hadn’t exactly hovered, she had stayed closeby just in case Stefan lost control. Deciding that they hadn’t had a proper introduction then, she approached the other girl, “Hey, having a good time?”

Bubbles was trying to play the part of helpful party guest. She tried to get to know everyone because that was what she was supposed to do. At least, that’s how she figured it was. There were a lot of people there and the ones she knew, she would go back to after a while of getting to know new people. Just for a dose of familiarity and comfort. But otherwise, she couldn’t say that she hadn’t been sociable. She was just glad to have her sisters with her.

When Lexi came over, Bubbles put on her brightest smile. “Hi! Yes. I didn’t know how many people to expect, but the turnout seems pretty good. Are you having a good time?

“You never do realize how many people you know until you have a party.” Between Stefan, Anna and herself, they knew a lot of people so she wasn’t surprised by the turn out. It was just good that they had a pretty big backyard. “I am. Then again, I usually have a good time at parties. I mean, it’s a party, how can you not have a good time?” Lexi was all about parties and having a good time, “So, I wanted to apologize for the whole hovering third wheel thing when you were over last time. Just had to keep an eye on Stefan.”

"Parties are pretty good. I have a feeling I'll be socially exhausted by the end of the day, though." But that's what sleeping was for. It always recharged her and helped make it easy to socialize again the next day. She didn't really mind, though. How else was she supposed to get to know people if she didn't socialize with them? "Oh. That's fine. I mean, nothing really happened." Which was in part due to the whole having another party there, but she didn't complain. She still got to sit with Stefan and it wasn't a huge deal. "He seems like he's doing okay, though." Her eyes scanned the crowd until she found him. "Is he okay? I don't think he'd tell me if he wasn't. Outside of...well, the werewolf thing. I think he worries about me being worried about him, which seems...pretty normal for people, I guess."

Lexi glanced over to where Stefan was and nodded, “Yeah, he’s good. Still keeping an eye on him though.” If Lexi had learned anything from the dreams, when it came to Stefan when he was drinking human blood, it was hard to break him of that habit. Especially when he went all Ripper mode. Luckily, it hadn’t come to that this time so it hadn’t taken as long to get him off the human stuff and it out of his system, but that didn’t mean that Lexi stopped worrying. When it came to human blood, Stefan was like an alcoholic so it was never a good idea to let her guard down. “But he’ll be fine in the long run. Just needed to make sure he didn’t have any relapses since it hadn’t been long since he’d gone cold turkey.” Lexi smirked at the other girl, “I won’t always be hanging around on your dates.”

Bubbles nodded. She didn't really know a lot about vampires or Stefan's world outside of what he'd told her. She just wanted him to be okay. But if Lexi said he was good, she trusted that he was and she was glad that the other girl cared enough about him to keep an eye on him. "I'll do what I can to keep an eye on him, too." If she was with him, she could make sure he was okay. She didn't want anything to happen to him after all. "Well, thank you for helping him out and keeping an eye on him. I'm glad he has friends who are there for him." She knew from everything he'd said about Anna, Lexi, and Caroline that they were good people. She was glad to see it, though. "I'd imagine our dates aren't all that exciting to crash anyway. Maybe we'll go bowling sometime." She paused. "And hope that we don't accidentally break anything with bowling balls."

Lexi smiled, thinking about all the times, in the dreams, that she’d helped Stefan when he became a Ripper and she had no problem helping him in the waking world too, “It’s kind of what I do. In our dreams I’m the one who usually helps him with this sort of thing. Or I was before someone killed me.” She glanced towards where Damon was, briefly, then back to Bubbles, “But that’s not important. Just, if anything ever happens, vampirewise, give me a call.” It made the most sense, because calling Damon wouldn’t help Stefan when it came to drinking human blood.

Bubbles looked between Lexi and Damon, her eyes widening a little. The idea of people killing each other in their dreams had never actually occurred to her. They fought bad guys in her dreams, but they were never killed and the bad guys were never killed either. After a moment, her eyes went back to normal and she studied Damon from afar a little bit before turning her attention back to Lexi. "Thanks. If anything happens, I'll make sure to call. Um." She pulled out her phone and opened it to a new contact, putting Lexi's name in before handing it over to her. "Just so I have you in my phone for the future."

Lexi couldn’t help but notice the blond girl’s reaction to what she’d said and she thought it best if she was just a little afraid of Damon. Sometimes part of her thought that maybe she should give Damon a chance since it had been sometime since the incidents that had caused her to hate him, both in and out of the dreams, but then he did or said something that just reminded her why she hated him. When Bubbles handed over the phone, Lexi typed her number in and saved the contact then handed it back to Bubbles, “There ya go. Send me a text so I’ll have yours.”

Bubbles hadn't really met Damon before, but Stefan had never talked about him like he was a bad person...and he'd saved Stefan from dying. She furrowed her brow as she tried to sort through both versions of what she knew of him. Taking her phone back, she sent a simple text that just said, This is Bubbles. Hi! Then she put her phone away again. "There you go." A pause. "Is there anything specific to look out for?" Just to be sure that she was able to notice it.

That was the thing about Damon. To certain people he could do no wrong, but to others he was the biggest asshole on the planet and chances were, if Lexi never said anything, Bubbles would never know about the horrible things Damon was capable of. She wasn’t going to try and turn the other girl against the older Salvatore brother, but she wanted her to know that he wasn’t exactly a nice guy.

Lexi took her phone out of her pocket after Bubbles sent the text and proceeded to create a new contact for that number, “Awesome. Thanks.” After a moment, she put her phone back in her pocket and contemplated the blond’s question, “I think you’ll just know. Stefan acts a lot more reckless and like things he does have no consequences when he’s drinking human blood. If he drinks too much, he can be worse than Damon as far as….biting people goes.” She didn’t want to scare Bubbles, so she wasn’t going to mention the fact that when Stefan became a Ripper, he was capable of blacking out when he really got going and would usually rip his victims’ heads off; hence why he was called a Ripper. “I mean, it probably won’t happen, but you can never be too careful.”

Bubbles nodded, bringing her hand up to her mouth and chewing on her thumbnail. She would have to be on guard for anything that seemed particularly more reckless. She felt like she knew Stefan enough to be able to spot when things weren't quite right, but she wondered if that was true. Maybe she didn't know enough. It only made her want to learn how to read him well enough to be able to tell even subtle differences. She'd have it down one day. "Well, even if it's an unlikely possibility, I'd like to be prepared. He means a lot to me, so I don't want him to do things that he would regret later." She frowned slightly. "I don't have super speed, but I at least can use my super strength if I have to." She'd do everything she could to keep him from hurting others and having to live with more regrets than he needed to.

Lexi’s brows rose at the mention of super strength. She didn’t really know anything about Bubbles; such as if Bubbles was even her real name, but she didn’t want to keep the girl for too long. Stefan would start to think that her and Bubbles were plotting or something. “Okay, so I’m going to ask you about the super strength thing later, but for now, I should probably go mingle with everyone else.” Except for Damon of course, “But I’m asking about that later. Trust me.” Lexi smirked at Bubbles. So far she liked the girl and was glad that Stefan had found someone who seemed nice and normal.

Bubbles hadn't realized till she said it that it might be something that Stefan hadn't mentioned. It was only Lexi's reaction to what she'd said that made her aware of it. Stefan was fairly bad at telling people about things like this, however. He hadn't even told her about his new job until it accidentally came up in conversation. "I'll try to answer all your questions when you ask later." She smiled then. "But see you later for our Q&A session." She'd go see if she could find Stefan and make sure her siblings weren't pestering him with questions.
