They’d had a simple date, dinner and coffee at a cafe near Cullen’s flat, and then a short walk around the neighborhood before they’d headed back to the Templar’s place, hand in hand. They were past the point of needing to impress each other (though Cullen still wore an outfit that Dorian had helped him put together) and just found comfort in each other’s company. Cullen could swear he’d been smiling almost the entire night because of it. There were feelings that were welling inside of him, a need that he was starting to address more and more since becoming friends with Dorian, as well as closer to Max. Both of them had nudged him, telling him that he needed to make a move if he really wanted this thing with Alistair to be more.
And perhaps his bravery was growing steadier at the minute as they walked towards the door of his place, into the apartment complex. “Thank you for tonight,” Cullen said, not ready to let go of the Warden’s hand or rifle for his keys in his pants pocket. “It was nice.” He turned his head and grinned, stopping in front of the numbered entrance to his place.
This should be the part where he pecked Alistair chastely on the lips and told him goodnight before going inside. Instead, he was silent for a moment, staring and feeling the heat growing in his cheeks before he finally let go of the man’s hand...only to wrap them around his neck. It felt like it took ages for him to breathe in, out, and then close the distance between their mouths, but when Cullen finally managed it, he felt a tremble work down his spine. The kiss wasn’t quite as bold as he’d thought of giving in his mind, but it was still heated, asking for more.
As far as Alistair was concerned, they didn’t need to try and impress each other anymore. He wasn’t exactly sure what they were to each other at the moment, but he was okay with that, because he enjoyed being around Cullen and there was always plenty of time for the relationship/boyfriend talk later on. “You’re welcome. I’m glad you had a good time.” Alistair liked taking Cullen out and hoped that it helped to take his mind off the dreams.
As they stood there, gazing at each other, Alistair was contemplating kissing Cullen, but before he could even make up his mind, Cullen’s arms were around his neck and Cullen’s mouth was on his. It shocked him, but in a good way and only for a moment. The last thing he’d expected was for Cullen to kiss him, but he supposed they had both surprised each other now with a kiss and Alistair wasn’t having a nervous breakdown so he was able to reciprocate much quicker. His arms wrapped around Cullen’s waist, pulling him a little closer as he returned the kiss, doing his best to guide the other man and show him what to do, knowing that Cullen was more inexperienced.
Slowly, his lips parted and his tongue flickered out against Alistair’s, tasting the leftover coffee from their dinner. He let the Warden lead the kiss, mimicking his motions, reminding himself to just take it slowly so he wouldn’t come across too eager or sloppy. His heart was pounding so hard in his chest though, like it might just burst at the feeling of Alistair pulling him in closer and keeping him there.
As much as he wanted to keep kissing the other man, Cullen needed a moment to breathe and perhaps remind himself that this was happening, the two of them wrapped up together right outside his apartment. The where honestly wasn’t that important to him though. He was staring into Alistair’s eyes, his tongue sliding nervously over his lips and he smiled so gently. “Can we do that again? And then...again,” Cullen asked while his fingers slid up into the king’s hair, then down his neck.
Alistair laughed softly at Cullen’s question and rested his forehead against the other man’s, “Yeah, we can do that again.” Removing one arm from around Cullen’s waist, he brought his hand up to cup the Templar’s cheek and kissed him. This time he kept it slow, wanting to better guide Cullen. Zevran had not been his first kiss, but he had been the one who had taught Alistair the proper techniques and now Alistair wanted to try and teach Cullen.
Cullen’s body melted into Alistair’s touch as the man leaned in to press their lips back together. The Templar was quite the student, giving all control to the other man, following the movements of his tongue and paying close attention to the way he kissed and managed to make Cullen shake with want.
So this was what he had been missing out on for years? It was worth the wait though, he had to admit. He gave himself over fully and followed his instincts, his hands slowly slipping down from Alistair’s neck, over his broad, muscled chest. Just the warmth of his skin under his shirt made the Templar give a pleased groan into his mouth.
Alistair couldn’t help but smirk against Cullen’s lips as he heard the other man groan and he’d be lying if he said he didn’t want to hear it again. However, he was very aware of their location so after a moment or two, he pulled away, slowly, “Why don’t we go inside? Just so that no one else stumbles upon us.” Alistair didn’t know what Cullen’s neighbors would think of two men kissing out in the hall and he didn’t want to offend anyone.
Cullen was flushing at the comment and he glanced around the hall before turning away to his door, tugging his keys out of his pocket. It took a few tries to get the key in the lock, but he soon succeeded and grabbed Alistair’s hand to tug him inside. Of course, they were greeted right away by two excited pit bulls who ran over with wagging tails to greet the humans. “Yes, yes. Hello to both of you,” the blond man cooed, crouching down to pet them both. He really wanted to pick up where he and Alistair had left off outside, but...he didn’t want to be interrupted by the dogs whining to go to the bathroom.
He glanced up. “Er, I need to take them out, then we can...resume?” He gave a nervous little grin.
Alistair laughed as the dogs ran up to them and he scratched them both on the head before looking back up at Cullen, “Yeah, that’s fine. I can….make myself comfortable. Or whatever.” He didn’t mind Cullen needing to tend to the dogs first, even if he was a little impatient to get back to the kissing, but he knew that if Cullen didn’t take the dogs out first they wouldn’t leave them alone and Alistair wanted more alone time with the Templar.
Cullen’s face practically lit up. “Brilliant! I’ll be back in a bit! Make yourself at home,” the Templar said as he leashed up his dogs and disappeared out his apartment door with them. Out in the hallway, he inhaled deeply and sighed, glancing down at the pit bulls who were staring.
“What? Don’t give me that look. Come on, let’s hurry up.” The dogs seemed to understand the rush and were quick to do their business outside instead of sniffing around for minutes, trying to find the perfect place. In a short matter of time, Cullen was coming back in the door, freeing Mere and Sam to find out what Alistair was doing.
Alistair had taken off his jacket and laid it over a chair in the living room before sitting down on the couch while Cullen took the dogs out. While he waited he took his phone out to check his messages quickly while he waited. After a few minutes, he heard the door, followed by the dogs’ feet on the floor and thought about whether or not he should call out. If he called out to Cullen he risked the dogs hearing him and if they came running, it might take Cullen longer to get them to settle down, but if he didn’t call out, it was likely that Cullen would simply find him in a matter of moment regardless.
The dogs wandered into the kitchen to get some food, as well as lap up some water, while Cullen entered the living room and smiled at Alistair looking comfortable on his couch. “Hey,” he said, feeling just a bit awkward as he wandered closer and took a seat beside the other man, their legs touching. Cullen turned to stare into the Warden’s eyes, tongue wetting his lips. He gave himself a bit of a mental pep talk before he was finally able to lean in for another kiss, his lips parting slowly.
“Hey. I didn’t want to call too much attention to myself so I wouldn’t attract them,” He gestured in the direction of the kitchen. As Cullen sat down beside him, Alistair watched him, watched his tongue as it slid out over his lips and had he not kissed him first, Alistair would have done it himself. One of Alistair’s hands went straight to Cullen’s cheek, cupping it as he once again guided the other man. Cullen was getting bolder, which was a good thing and Alistair couldn’t help but be reminded, briefly, of when he was like this with Zevran. When this was all new to him and the elf had taught him. He quickly pushed thoughts of the Assassin out of his mind and focused on Cullen.
The warmth of arousal that had waned was now coming back in full force, making a tremble shoot up his spine as he leaned in further and let his hand slip down over one of Alistair’s broad shoulders and along his arm. Cullen gave a whine of approval with the movement of their tongues together. He was starting to feel more experienced, learning exactly how the warden and king liked his kisses. Now he just needed to keep trusting his instincts and let them lead him.
After another long moment and several kisses later, the Templar pulled back with a kiss-bruised grin. “I think I’m going to get a neck cramp from this angle. So…,” and he paused and glanced down and back up. “Should I move...over here,” Cullen went on, touching Alistair’s thigh. “Or no?”
Alistair couldn’t help but chuckle as Cullen became slightly flustered and decided to take the matter into his own hands, “How about this?” Before Cullen could respond, Alistair moved so that he was now straddling the Templar, his hands resting on the back of the couch as he gazed into Cullen’s eyes before leaning in and claiming the blond’s mouth once again.
He hadn’t expected Alistair to be quite so forward by crawling into his lap and taking a dominant position, but he didn’t mind in the slightest. His heart was beating faster inside his chest and his cock was starting to push against the zipper of his pants. “Bloody fucking hell,” the Templar whispered to himself before he was swept up in another eager kiss.
Cullen pushed into the motion, his chest pressing up into Alistair’s as his tongue darted out to lick at his. His hands began to wander up along his back from his slim hips, fingers eventually curling into the fabric and tugging like he could get more from him.
Alistair would have been lying if he said he didn’t feel the bulge in Cullen’s pants, but knowing the way Cullen was, he didn’t want to say anything and possibly embarrass him, so he simply continued kissing the other man, occasionally grinding his hips down. He might not say anything about Cullen’s boner, but he wasn’t going to ignore it entirely.
A pleased groan vibrated against the Warden’s lips as Cullen’s body moved against his own, shaking in need. Part of him wanted to say something about the current moment, but instead he kept kissing Alistair and enjoying his nearness, learning the way his body moved. The other man didn’t seem to mind that he was completely inexperienced and just following his instincts and the king’s lead. He was even starting to feel less like a nervous mess.
It was a very long moment before Cullen slid his mouth away from Alistair’s, biting into his reddened lower lip with a deep breath. He stared up into those gorgeous eyes and smiled, heart beating a mile a minute in his chest. “Is it alright to say that...I want you?”
For a moment Alistair had been worried that Cullen was going to pull away, but as he spoke a small smile spread across his lips, “It is. Cause, I want you too.” Were it not for the fact that this was more than likely the farthest Cullen had gone, Alistair would suggest they move this to Cullen’s bedroom, but he didn’t want to push the other man before he was comfortable, “But...for now, do you want me to give you a hand with that?” He gestured towards Cullen’s crotch.
Cullen gave a warm grin and leaned in for another kiss, nipping at Alistair’s lower lip before drawing over it with his tongue. “You’re the first person that’s wanted me… Makes me feel a bit nervous, but mostly excited.” A pleased laugh vibrated in his throat while his fingers slid through the other man’s hair, though the motions stopped at the question the Warden asked.
“Ah...you don’t have to if you don’t want to.” He could feel his face heating up again and his cock giving a twitch in his trousers. “But, I wouldn’t at all mind. And I could return the favor?” He raised a brow, smiling charmingly.
Alistair’s smile widened slightly, his hand behind Cullen’s head moving to run his fingers through the blond curls, “Why wouldn’t I want you?” He could understand where Cullen was coming from of course cause he had once been in the same position back when he’d started dating Zevran. “And you don’t have to if it makes you nervous or anything.” Of course Alistair wouldn’t say no if Cullen really wanted to, because he too had quite the erection by now.
“Because I’m awkward and new to this and have hardly a clue what I’m doing. I mean...it helps you’re a man, obviously, but…” He licked his lips and gave up trying to even finish that statement, opting for pressing open mouthed kisses against Alistair’s jaw. One of his hands moved downward, towards the button and zip of his pants, and gave a grope of the hard length trapped inside his pants. It was strange to think that he of all people had, had this effect on the Warden.
“No, I want to. I want to quite a bit, and honestly having you touch me sounds far more satisfying than a cold shower and a wank when I can’t sleep because...all I can think about is you kissing me and just being...here..”
Alistair chuckled softly as he tipped his head back slightly to accommodate Cullen’s kisses, “Not too long ago I was also awkward and new to this. Maker’s balls, I’m still awkward most of the time.” He groaned as Cullen’s hands began to wander, “If you insist...I can’t stop you then.” One hand remained in Cullen’s hair while the other moved down to mimic the Templar’s. “Just do what you’d do to yourself.” It was the best advice he could give Cullen at the moment to attempt to make him feel less nervous and awkward. He had a feeling that this wouldn’t be the last time they were in this situation and it was possible that at some point in the near future they would take the next step, but not until Cullen was ready.
