We should go somewhere this summer.

When: recent
Status: complete

Summertime was finally here and Rapunzel was still surprised at how quickly her first year at college went. Now instead of having to worry about classes all the time she was able to just relax and do whatever her mood decided. There was a lot more time for volunteering at the ranch and riding her horse, but most importantly was the extra time she had to spend with Laura. Today they had decided to hit up the beach and just enjoy the sunshine and the cool waters. Rapunzel had packed them a cooler full of food, drinks, and had a bag full of other supplies for them (sunscreen, aloe, towels, etc) and the two of them rode together to the beach and after a long walk they finally made it to the beach.
Towels were set out so they could claim their spots and she had removed her cover-up and tossed it at her girlfriend. “Hey there, cutie, do you come around here often?” She struck a couple poses for her girlfriend in her bikini.
It was nice not worrying about classes. Actually getting to do her night work without class in the morning was very nice too. Not that Laura slept much. It did let her spend more time with the people she cared about, and today was all Rapunzel.
She caught the cover-up and smiled at her girlfriend. “You look amazing but get under the umbrella so I can put lotion on you. You’ll get a sunburn.” She didn’t really need it herself. Her healing factor would repair any sun damage as it happened. Rapunzel didn’t have the same luxury.
“Gosh, you just ruin all my fun,” Rapunzel teased with a giggle as she made her way underneath the umbrella. Laura was absolutely right though because she was incredibly fair skinned and while she did tan, she burned quite often. Once under the blanket she moved to sit in front of Laura was crossed legs and glanced over her shoulder, “Don’t get too frisky while lathering me up though, sweetie, there are children.” Okay, so maybe she was more than happy to let Laura put sunscreen on her because she loved the feel of her girlfriend’s hands on her skin.
“They’re too far away to notice.” Laura grinned, rubbing her palm up Rapunzel’s spine and letting out a sound that was almost a sensual purr. She squirted out some lotion and started to lather her up. “This was a good idea. You’re the only person that I’ve ever been to the beach with. That makes you really special.” She leaned in and kissed Rapunzel’s ear.
That comment sent a shiver down her spine and she blushed at the idea of it, especially when Laura’s voice had a purr to it. Ugh, that girl could turn her on instantly. “You haven’t been to the beach before? What? That’s crazy, Laura. We’ll have a lot of fun with swimming and just laying out,” she explained with a smile as she glanced over at her girlfriend and giggled at the kiss to her ear. She would have to make sure that Laura didn’t hate the beach.
“There was an assassination once, and a few times I crawled out of the ocean after a battle. But that does not count as going to the beach,” Laura could be frank at times, and though she worried she might one day say something to make Rapunzel leave, she didn’t want to outright lie to her. “So I am looking to making new memories with you.” She snapped Rapunzel’s bikini strap.
The mention of assassinations made her purse her lips just slightly. She knew what Laura did here and in the dreams, but it was still strange to hear sometimes when it was voiced aloud. She was working her hardest on not being too hung up on it or fret over her girlfriend too much. The snap woke her out of that mindset and she giggled, “I’m glad. I’m so happy to spend this time with you.”
She at least didn’t kill people in the real world. Rough up pimps and the like, but she didn’t assassinate them. And in her dreams she’d moved towards … well not pacifism, but she tried to avoid killing where she could. A new, different kind of Wolverine.
Laura took Rapunzel’s head and turned it back towards her for a kiss. “We should go somewhere this summer. Even just for a few days.”
“That would be a lot of fun,” Rapunzel commented after the kiss and happily bounced around so she could face Laura properly. She took Laura’s hands in her own and gently rubbed the skin of Laura’s hand with her thumb, “Where would you like to go? We can basically go anywhere.”
She wanted to go some place where she could either replace good memories with bad, or make new good memories. “I always liked Paris. But if that is too far, I would not mind somewhere else. Mexico, perhaps.”
“I would have to get a passport,” Rapunzel mused aloud. She didn’t have one because there hadn’t really been a reason to go out and travel around the world. But she would do it if Laura wanted to go somewhere.
They could cheat, use one of the Blackbirds. Logan had one. Laura also suspected there was a second out there, either with Kitty or Jean, but she couldn’t confirm that. “That would be a good idea, even if I have ways out of the country without one.” She winked playfully, then handed the lotion to Rapunzel. “You should get me too.”
“I’ll put in for that then and maybe while we wait we just take a road trip somewhere. We can just go some place a few hours away and it’ll feel like a mini vacation,” Rapunzel pointed out as she took the lotion from Laura, “Turnaround, dear.” She squirted some of the lotion in her hands once Laura turned around and began to massage it into her skin.
“Let me know.” Laura could get the time off a little easier than her girlfriend could. She groaned into the touch. “But I like that idea. Any place you’d like to go?” They could go to Nevada but neither was old enough to gamble. “Maybe the San Diego Zoo?”
“I went there once months ago and it was pretty fun, but I didn’t get to see the Safari side. I think it would fun to go on a zoo adventure,” Rapunzel explained as she enjoyed how soft Laura’s skin was underneath her fingertips as she massaged the lotion in, “Have you been to a zoo lately?”
“No.” She leaned into Rapunzel’s fingers, eyes closed. The touching felt so good that she could just live with that for sixteen thousand years. “Not in a very long time. But I love animals. They are...mostly better than people.”
“I think we should do that then until my passport comes in. The zoo would be lovely and I can buy you an adorable stuffed animal,” Rapunzel explained with a giggle before leaning in to kiss Laura’s neck, “We should really get out into the water before we get all scandalous in here. Remind me to add massages to our evening activity.”
“Good. Then we can go to Paris before school starts again.” Her eyes fluttered, and her voice got a little rough. “The cold water will help.” She bounced to her feet and grabbed Rapunzel’s hand to pull her up too. “Race you.”
Laura was damn adorable when she acted like this. Rapunzel followed suit in jumping up to her feet and taking Laura’s hand for assistance. A small laugh was given at the race thing and she feigned getting started, “Mkay, let’s do it. One -- Two --” and before she even got to three she started running for the beach.
Giving Rapunzel a head start, Laura laughed and then sprinted after her.. She had momentarily amusing thought about setting up Rapunzel’s hair like an umbrella. They could probably shade a dozen people. Or make a way to hide from everyone. Laura wasn’t that much of an exhibitionist though.
She caught up to her girl, grabbing her and lifting her up into the air as she waded into the ocean, before falling over and taking them both under water.
It was a surprise when Laura caught up to her and grabbed her. She had been thisclose to the ocean, so she let out a shriek of laughter. It always amazed her at how light she must seem to Laura since she could lift just about anything. The laughter continued as they fell into the ocean and Rapunzel held on tightly.
Once she was sure she wasn’t going to accidentally drown them both. Laura hugged Rapunzel in the water. It was colder than she’d expected, but she didn’t mind. She nuzzled Rapunzel. “I love you.”
Laura was usually a warmer body temperature than she was so Rapunzel held on tightly as they hugged in the water and she giggled, “I love you too. This was a very good decision. I think we can hang out on the beach for the rest of the day.”
“Okay,” Laura agreed. She’d just have to ambush her girlfriend later. Right now she just wanted to enjoy her presence. No world shaking events, no insanity, no magic, just the two of them at the beach like normal people.
