Maria's eyes snapped open. She shut them again, and groaned before sitting back up. "Yeah, I'm okay," she lied. "I'm not hurt."
That part was true. She looked over the other girl for a brief moment before focusing her gaze onto the ocean again. "Sorry, I thought I was alone."
Maria couldn't very well tell this stranger the issue she was facing. Sure, California was pretty liberal, and open minded, but there were certain things you had to guard closely. The last thing Maria needed was to further scare some stranger with her bizarre problem.
