Who: Lara and Bo
What: After some tough times, Bo decides to turn the living room into an improv dance floor.
When: A couple days after this
Where: Their home
Warnings: Family-friendly

It had taken a day or two before Bo finally had enough of the aches and seeing the ugly cuts on her face before she’d had enough and asked Lara for some chi. Of course, it had also been about time for her to feed on chi anyway considering she hadn’t done so since before their argument. The injuries were now healed, so she was going to do something nice for Lara. Or at least she hoped it would be nice.

Bo was in the mood for something romantic, but also something that didn’t require them leaving the house. She still wasn’t wanting to be around large numbers of people, partly due to the emotional trauma of her most recent dreams, and partly because she was afraid she’d go super succubus and kill a bunch of people in one swoop. So an idea had hit her. While Lara was busy with something else, Bo had gotten on the computer and downloaded some music and burned it to a CD. She dressed up slightly, pulling on a white blouse (with ample cleavage showing of course), and a pair of nice black pants. She flat ironed her hair, mostly because it had been a few days since she’d done anything with it, aside from washing it. A touch of make-up, and then she went downstairs, CD in hand, and went into the living room and put it in the CD player. She turned the volume up enough so that Lara would hear it and follow it.

She wanted to dance with Lara, so the music she’d chosen was classical and songs that could be slow-danced to. There were a couple waltzes and the like on the CD, which she figured if Lara knew them she could teach Bo how to waltz, and if not they could just do their own thing. So with the music begun, Bo simply stood there and waited for Lara to come investigate.

Something light would have been welcomed by Lara. The emotional and physical toll of the last week or so had done a bit of a number on her. She hid it well, but she’d slept rather soundly after Bo had needed her chi. Her dreams had been free of anything terrible, so she was in a good mood now. She hit the gym and the archery range at the mansion, showered, and then slipped into the library for some exciting research.

It took a full five minutes before she noticed the music. She’d been engrossed in research for a colony that had gone missing centuries ago.

She marked her place, quickly scribbling some notes before she lost her train of thought, then got up to investigate.

“I feel somewhat underdressed,” she said, drinking in Bo, and the stereo. “You look stunning. What’s the occasion?”

While being physically better, Bo’s head was still a mess. But that was part of why she was going for something light and fun, something to remind them both that things weren’t always so terrible. When Lara came in, Bo smiled and walked closer to her.

“The occasion is that I wanted to dance with you,” she said before bowing a bit and holding her hand out to Lara. “May I have this dance, my lady?”

Looking touched, Lara took Bo’s hand. “A dance? I’m flattered. I promise I won’t step on your toes.” Luckily she was barefoot. And had had waltzing lessons as a child. But that was years ago. She figured she could still lead, if necessary.

Bo was also barefoot, a warm smile on her face as she pulled Lara in. “I’ll do my best to not step on your toes.” While Bo could dance, that was the club kind of dancing. She didn’t know any of the ballroom-type dances or anything like that. But with a hand set on the small of Lara’s back, Bo started to move to the music, her gaze fixed on Lara’s.

This woman was simply amazing to her. Bo didn’t think many people would have noticed she’d left until much later, and she doubted that any of those, with a couple exceptions, would have even tried to come and find her. She was rather certain that she’d fallen in love with Lara all over again after the trials and tribulations of the past week. Which she most likely made clear when they’d had sex when she’d needed the chi, and the intensity and attention to detail that she’d put into it.

“You’re a lot more graceful than you give yourself credit for,” Lara pointed out. She threaded her arms around Bo’s shoulders, gazing into her eyes. There was a glimmer in her own. Mischief, happiness, love. She moved to the music with Bo, subtly taking the lead and guiding Bo. “I haven’t danced since… well since a long time ago.”

There’d been a lot of cooing ‘i love yous’ after that. The kind of love making that ended in tears. Even thinking about it was making Lara emotional. “I love you.”

“Must be all the sword fighting I do in the dreams finally coming over,” she said with a small chuckle. “Or else it’s all the time I spent in clubs over the years.” Though it was probably a mix of both. She didn’t mind Lara taking the lead. She laced both of her arms around Lara’s lower back, falling into step with her easily. “Well, the pleasure is mine to be able to dance with you like this.” Her smile widened.

Despite the mess that her head still was, she was at peace in Lara’s arms. She’d slept quite soundly after having made love like that. It still amazed her how much she could be connected to someone else like that. “I love you.” She felt the swell of emotion again as she gazed at Lara adoringly.

“Both, probably. A good fight is not unlike a ballet of violence.” She moved more closely into Bo’s body, craving contact more than anything else. It felt so slow, so unexpected. Their lives were like a rollar coaster, constantly up and down and this was a down (the good kind) and she hoped it kind of stayed that way for at least a few weeks. Lara knew enough than to expect it to ever last longer than that.

She loved when Bo looked at her like that, full of raw emotion. She stole a kiss.

“I can see that,” she said, tightening her arms around Lara a bit more as she moved closer. The contact was very welcome. Bo was a touchy-feely person, even before the succubus thing. She just enjoyed the contact with another person in such a way. It was even better when she had an emotional connection with the person.

She smiled as Lara stole the kiss, kissing her back. “You are a wonderful dancer,” she complimented, eyes sparkling.

“Thank you. I’m less rusty than i figured. I suppose all that clubbing with Sam may have helped.” Days which will never come again, she thought. Even if she was inclined to risk endangering Sam with the dreams, she wasn’t inclined to club, for similar yet not reasons to Bo.

She admired her girlfriend, while also thinking ahead. Bo liked to be romanced. How could she do that in a way that wouldn’t give away her plan before it was too late, but also wouldn’t put Bo on the spot in a public place which hardly seemed fair.

And then she realized she was actually thinking about proposing, and seriously.

Dream her would have a cow.

“That probably helped, yeah. Though it’s probably like riding a bike. Once you learn it, even if you don’t do it for years, it comes back to you quickly.” Or that was how it seemed to her. “Perhaps we should dance more often?” Bo suggested. She didn’t mean going clubbing, she already knew not to take Lara to such a place packed with people and loud sounds. But they could dance like this, at least. Or maybe there were places to dance in. Perhaps that was something she’d look into as a potential date in the future.

Bo was also very unaware of Lara’s thoughts as they danced. While she didn’t exactly seem the type, Bo did like to be romanced. She was very soft-hearted when it came to romance. While she tended to more want to sweep someone else off their feet, she liked it when someone turned the tables on her. She had a traditional streak in her. She didn’t particularly like extravagant things, she preferred simple. Dinner by candlelight, soft music, things of that nature.

“I wonder what else is like riding a bike,” Lara mused. Rock climbing, perhaps. There were certain skills and muscle memory that was hard to shake, though it was always better to keep practicing for one’s own safety. “I’d like that. Our own private tradition.”

Showing Bo off was one thing (she wondered what a real ball would be like and what Bo would look like in a gown) but she liked having a few things to themselves.

And a candlelight dinner would certainly be a good start.

“Probably a lot of things,” she responded. And probably many that Bo couldn’t think of at the moment. Though she smiled widely, those dimples of hers coming out. “Then we should definitely make it a tradition.” She tightened her arms around Lara, pulling her a little closer. She could definitely enjoy that tradition.

As for what Bo looked like in a gown, she’d been in one in her dreams. That party for nominating candidates to be the new Ash had been a fancy party. Not that Lara had been able to see Bo in that dress, but Bo could definitely turn heads walking into a room when dressed up like that. And, well, she’d definitely need advance warning if she ever needed a gown for such an occasion because while she had some dresses in her wardrobe, nothing was that fancy. Shopping (and a good few weeks of really good tips at work) would be required.

“Like an anniversary? Or as something for after…” Lara waved a hand behind Bo’s neck. “After a bad dream.” She wanted to put that out there though there was a risk of associating the bad dreams with the dancing and she wasn’t sure she wanted that.

“Or maybe just something completely unrelated.”

“Either an anniversary or something completely unrelated.” As much as having something nice after a bad dream would be, Bo didn’t want to associate the dancing with emotional turmoil. So perhaps they could come up with something else to do after a bad dream.

“Though maybe we could do something active after a bad dream. Or at least the bad ones where I don’t wake up injured.” Because after taking some of Lara’s chi, that kind of negated doing anything that required energy. At least for a little while.

“I love you. I think that’s a better idea. We can set up the gym for that. Punching bags. Or go to a shooting range.” God knew Lara could use a shooting range on occasion, after a bad dream. Just unloading bullets into a target could make her feel better. That they weren’t real people helped.

“You’d need to teach me how to shoot a gun properly. I’ve never really used one before.” That was one weapon Bo never really learned how to use, here or in her dreams. She could certainly see the appeal in unloading a bunch of bullets into a target, though she was the type who preferred to punch things when she was upset.

“That needs to be a priority.” Lara nodded, leaning her forehead against Bo’s. She’d ceased paying much attention to what her body was doing, simply letting it move along with the music on its own accord. “In case you’re ever in a situation you can’t punch yourself out of.” Or against an enemy one couldn’t punch.

Bo smiled softly, closing her eyes as Lara leaned her forehead against her own. “Or in a situation where I don’t have my dagger or for whatever reason I can’t use it.” She was going to need to get creative on carrying her weapons around considering Orange County tended to like going crazy without warning. “Though I would certainly like to learn how to use one.” She also had stopped paying attention to what she was doing. She continued moving with Lara, holding her close.

“It’s easier than carrying around a crossbow,” Lara pointed out. She let her hands wander a little bit, mostly around Bo’s back and up to the nape of her neck. She leaned in and kissed her deeply.

“True,” Bo said with a soft chuckle. While she loved her crossbow, she didn’t exactly take it everywhere with her. There was a time and a place for it. She returned the kiss, one hand coming up to rest on Lara’s cheek.

“Do you have to be anywhere, today?” Lara asked. She suddenly didn’t want Bo going anywhere. In fact she wanted to keep dancing until their feet were sore, and then take her out to dinner.

“No, I don’t. I’m all yours today.” She gently caressed Lara’s cheek and gazed at her. Bo was more than enjoying dancing with Lara. She was rather pleased that she’d gotten this idea and had followed through in doing it. And she was even happier that Lara had liked it as well.

“Dangerous words.” Lara’s voice was a low growl. She stole another kiss, one that was a little feral and a little aggressive. She broke it to meet her eyes again, almost solemnly saying. “I love you.” There was power in words, and those three always felt so powerful.

“I like danger,” she quipped. The kiss definitely turned her on. She liked the little feral and aggressive notes in it. And there was definitely power in words, especially those three words. And they always hit a chord with Bo in the good sense. “I love you.”
