Integra was moping a little bit.
That was to say she was staring out a window lazily and wondering idly if she stepped outside if it would hurt. In her dreams Alucard was pretty tolerant of things like the sun, not that she remembered testing it much. Now one of her favorite pastimes was no longer an option. Oh well. She was still coming to grips with what had transpired. Never once had she regretted it. She would never.
But there were things she was still trying to understand. It wasn’t in her nature to just… not. She had to worry at a problem, a question, until she figured it out. She wasn’t about to let only a few weeks be the reason she didn’t understand. Even if she knew there would be years before she really came to understand it all. She wasn’t about to let that stop her from trying, though.
Alucard knew it was a big adjustment for Integra but he knew she would come through it. She was strong, physically stronger now than ever before but even stronger emotionally. But it would take time and she would of course need to get used to her abilities.
“Alright my love?” he asked, moving behind her and resting his hands on her shoulders.
She turned enough to rest her head against his hand, she sighed before smiling. “Mourning the loss of little things.” She was honest, because what else was there but honesty?
Integra lifted a hand to stare at her fingers, she was getting used to seeing herself through new eyes. They had plenty of time, and she had to force herself to slow down.
“It will get easier with time” Alucard promised, “I will show you such amazing things my Integra” he pressed a soft kiss to the top of her head.
Integra closed her eyes for a moment, smiling. “I have no doubt of that my love. Who would have known this is the way our lives would go when we moved here?” She laughed a little. Finding each other had been wonderful. Dreaming had been interesting. But this? This took the top prize in surprises.
“Even if somebody had there is no way we would have believed them” Alucard said, stroking her arms as he held her close. “But we have each other, forever now and that makes it a little easier to accept I think”
Integra nodded, she'd needed to hear that. “No I'm sure we wouldn't have. What a surprise it is.” She leaned back into him, grinning a bit. “You won't get sick of me?” She teased smirked, the action causing her to catch her lip with a sharp tooth, a drop of red welling to the surface.
“Never” he promised leaning in to lick the blood from her lips slowly and sensually. “Who else could I drive mad for all eternity and still have them love me?” he teased.
She shivered as he leaned in and flicked the drop of blood away from her lips. Eyes drifting shut until she heard him speak, then they snapped open to give him a look. “Going to drive me forever mad, hmm? I will still shoot you you know!” She couldn't hide the smile, though it was up to him to decide if it was because she threatened to shoot him or that she'd have eternity to threaten it.
His smirk was bright, “Oh I know you will, imagine how many guns you could use over the years” he said encouragingly.
She poked him idly in the ribs. “Come on now, it’ll be a collection worthy of a museum.” she purred as she got to her feet and smiled. “Alright let’s head downstairs. I can’t sit idle much longer or I’ll be mourning things like sunbathing for weeks.”
“One day you will be able to fully stand in the sun again my love, it will just take a little while to get there” Alucard said, wrapping his arm around her when she stood. “Come let’s make you feel better by giving you some weapons”
Integra stretched upwards, marveling at the lack of aches and pains in her muscles and joints. It was a heady feeling, knowing that she wasn’t broken anymore. She was stronger, and she couldn’t wait to test it. She snuggled into his arms and smiled up at him. “Won’t that be a treat.” she grinned. “Yes, weapons. Maybe this means someday I might be able to beat you!”
“Maybe you will” he replied, it would at the very least be amusing to see her try and, of course, it would help her to adapt and learn her new skills faster with the incentive of possibly beating him.
She wouldn’t. She knew that. No matter what he had way more experience to draw on. She relied on luck to get an up on him. She leaned up and kissed him. “Alright then, let’s do this”
