Who: Maia and Morrigan What: Breakfast and Morrigan has a sense of humor shock! gasp! When: Recently Where: Morrigan's house Warning: Family friendly
“Silly question,” Maia asked, as she cracked some eggs over Morrigan’s stove. “But how do you like your eggs?” Sure, she should have asked first, but she’d wanted to surprise Morrigan, only that hadn’t worked out. But she was already too deep to stop, so she just charged ahead. Eggs and breaky, wakey wakey and all of that. Bacon too.
She snuck a piece to the nearest cat.
“Over-easy,” she responded and stifled a yawn. Morrigan was clad in nothing but a silky robe, and her hair was loose and messy. She watched Maia work on breakfast, still a bit touched that she was going through the trouble of making breakfast. “Are you certain you do not wish for some assistance?” She felt the need to want to help. And as it happened, Bastet was the lucky cat to get the piece of bacon. Persephone was lingering by Morrigan.
It was a beautiful sight and if her hands weren’t full she would have also ‘looked’ at Morrigan with them. “No, I’ve got this, love.” She sounded far too chipper for this time of morning, but it had been a pleasant night and Morrigan had worn her out so well she felt well rested. “Actually if you could grab the milk? I like mine scrambled and milk makes them extra fluffy.”
Maia wasn’t the only one who had been worn out. Morrigan had some aches from the previous night’s activities, but she wasn’t about to complain about it. It was the good kind of ache anyway. “Of course,” she said as she moved around Persephone and grabbed the milk from the fridge before taking it over to Maia. “Here you are, love.”
It was the kind of ache one could get addicted to, and Maia didn’t think it would get old any time soon. “Thank you.” She finished Morrigan’s eggs and put a plate down for her before working on her own. “Finals are in a week, I’ll be a bit busy for awhile there.”
“Ah yes, the excitingly stressful time of final examinations. I do hope that you come out of it unscathed. Sometimes I do wonder who has the harder time, students for having to study, or the professors for having to grade everything.” Morrigan eyed Maia. “Considering you have been on both sides of the equation, perhaps you have some insight on that?”
“A little of both, I wager. Though I know all the material there is sometimes some insight from the students.” Usually it was a headache though. There were the students that bullshitted the course, the others that completely messed up. She was sure there was one in particular that would turn in a mess of a final paper but manage to ace the actual test. She wasn’t sure how that worked.
“If you need something for a chronic headache, let me know. I have just the remedy for that.” Morrigan said with a smile, grabbing a piece of bacon and taking a bit of it. With the seeds she’d gotten from her dreams, she could make all manner of remedies native to both Earth and Thedas, and even craft completely new things by combining the plants. The possibilities did seem to be endless.
“I will certainly take you up on that.” Maia continued to sound unreasonably cheerful as she took her own plate and sat across from her girlfriend. “You’re a genius, and honestly I’m just dating you for your herbs.” She winked.
“Say tis not true!” Morrigan gasped, pressing a hand to her heart in playfully dramatic fashion. “You wound me so with such a confession!” Where was this playfulness coming from? Morrigan had no idea. Really, the things Maia made her feel and do were incredibly strange and sometimes infuriating as much as they were confusing.
It brought a huge grin to Maia’s face, and she took a bite of her eggs before she said something to draw Morrigan’s attention to her being playful. Swallowing, she finally said, “Oh yes, that was my plan all along. Get into your good graces and make off with all your herbs. And the cats. I’m kidnapping your cats.”
“Oh whatever shall I do? You are a fiend, Maia. A fiend!” Morrigan continued on in a dramatic tone. She then paused to eat a little more of her breakfast. “And what a dastardly one at that for kidnapping my cats!”
“They love me,” She snuck Persephone a piece of bacon, since it wasn’t fair that she didn’t get something. “They’d have to adapt to Barkspawn but I discovered him making nice with the neighbor’s cat so that wouldn’t really be a problem.” She pulled out her phone and opened up the photos. She slid it over to Morrigan to reveal the giant mabari curled up with a calico curled up on his side and two little kittens napping in the crook of his neck. “Such a killer, isn’t he?”
“Possibly because you keep sneaking them bacon,” Morrigan spoke with a chuckle. Though upon seeing the picture, she just shook her head slightly. “Such a fearsome warhound indeed. Though perhaps encouraging should a day come that we wish to introduce the animals.” Not that Morrigan was thinking in the long term relationship vein of things, but more of the if Maia was going to spend some nights here, it probably wasn’t the best to leave Barkspawn alone for so long.
“Bribery is the sincerest form of flattery.” Maia replied, waggling a piece of bacon at Morrigan. “I was thinking about that, you know.” She took a bite to give her time to think and for things to sink in a little for Morrigan. “Rather, what might come after that.”
“So you say.” Morrigan teased. Though at the revelation, she looked at Maia, not fully certain how to take that. How was she supposed to take it? It was difficult to determine. “Have you? What have you been thinking of specifically?”
“I’m not sure... “ Rather, on how to phrase it. Without freaking Morrigan out, anyway. “Just some thoughts. I like mornings like this. It might be nice to make them more common.”
“I see. You like cozy, extended mornings, do you? Or do you just prefer to see what I actually look like in the morning before getting my make-up on?” Morrigan teased, with a playfully wary eye on Maia.
“Oh, you’ve caught me. I want to get a picture of you with bed hair and no make up, and post it to the world!” Maia immediately went along with the joke, aborting her attempt to talk uhaul with Morrigan. It was a stupid idea and moving too fast and she didn’t even know why she’d thought about it except for her conversation with Leliana.
“Oh bloody hell, no. You are not letting that faith-crazed, insane redhead see me in such a state!” By which Morrigan meant Leliana. Sure her encounter with the woman in this life had been civil, but that didn’t mean she wanted her seeing her in such an unflattering state.
“It could be worse,” Maia pointed out. “I could send it to Alistair.” Which implied she already had pictures. Of Morrigan sleeping. Though she’d never actually send them to anyone. They were too adorable and must be kept to herself.
“Neither of them are to see that! I would never hear the end of it.” The thought already made Morrigan want to hurl insults at both of them to try and keep her image in tact. She didn’t need them seeing that side of her. Only Maia could see it.
She held up her hands in surrender. “I wouldn’t do that, I promise. I might joke about orgies and the like but I do like to keep that to myself. Most of the time. I do have a video floating around somewhere….”
“A video? Dare I ask what this video contains precisely?” Morrigan asked, eyebrows lifting a bit as she eyed her girlfriend. She was curious more than anything else. So of course she’d bite and see what Maia had to say.
“Are you sure you really want to know?” Maia flashed her a sheepish grin. ‘It’s rather naughty, but you can’t quite see my face. I assure you I had a splendid time.”
Morrigan’s eyebrows rose even higher at that revelation. “I think that description shall suffice. Though I should certainly hope that you had a splendid time.” Otherwise there seemed to be little point in making such a video.
“Not jealous?” If she recalled, Morrigan could get hilariously jealous at times. But it had been in the past, while she’d still been in uni. One of those things that she didn’t generally worry about, it wasn’t like she was teaching children to have parents throw a fit over it.
“Not entirely, no. T’was in the past, was it not?” Of course, there was probably a twinge of jealousy in there, but that was about it. Morrigan couldn’t wrap her head around the idea of an orgy or even taking video of having sex. But she wasn’t going to judge or hold any of it against Maia, unless it happened in the here and now and without Morrigan knowing and approving of it before hand.
Maia would ask first. The idea of recording Morrigan at her most sultry was appealing. She pushed away the remains of her plate and leaned on her elbows. “Fortunately that’s all that i’m aware of, unless there was something taken without my knowledge. No surprise children, either.”
“No surprise children is a positive. Tis best when they are planned, or at the very least not resulting from some tryst of that nature at a young age.” Morrigan was older than Maia by a few years, but they both were still young. Though Maia had clearly been younger than she currently was when that had occurred.
“There will be no sudden children looking for their birth mother. If that does happen I’ll be as surprised as you. Honestly, you’d think I’d have remembered something like that?” It wasn’t too long ago, all things considered. But at least she wasn’t barely an adult and thrust into the role of the most important person in Ferelden here.
“Normally yes, though I suppose if aliens came down and probed you, you may not remember it.” Morrigan said in a deadpan. However, there was quite the twinkle in her eyes suggesting that she was only teasing. Sometimes she did have a wicked sense of humor.
“If they probed me and didn’t call me the next morning I’ll be seriously put out.” She started to pick up the plates so she could clean up the mess. She’d made it, no use in making her girlfriend clean it up. “Makes you wonder what all those aliens want with rednecks.”
“You would have every right to be put out about that.” Morrigan brushed a hand through her hair, watching Maia as she began to clean up the mess. “Perhaps because the aliens are not expected to call the next morning with them?”
“Rednecks need love too,” Maia replied, giving her a playful wink as she loaded up the dishwasher. She wasn’t sure if Morrigan liked her pans loaded up so she washed those in the sink. “Speaking of love. Would you like to go out this Friday?”
Morrigan chuckled a bit at that. She supposed many people needed love. Until Maia had suddenly appeared in her life, Morrigan had assumed she was one of those people who didn’t need love. But perhaps she’d been wrong about that. “I would like that. What do you have in mind?” Perhaps this was a chance for her to wear those new heels she’d bought at Leliana’s shop.
Not everyone needed love. Maia would amend that. But a lot of people liked it anyway. Drying her hands, she came over to Morrigan and playfully fwapped her with the dish towel. “How does an art show sound? Fancy and all of that.”
She yelped slightly as Maia fwapped her with the dish towel. “That sounds perfect to me. It gives me an excuse to dress up.” And hopefully knock Maia’s socks off in the process. She’d gotten the dress first, then the shoes. Now she could pick out the correct accessories for the outfit to complete the look.
“I always like the idea of you dressing up. You look good in just about anything, love.” Maia wrapped an arm around Morrigan, a low purr in her throat. “In fact you’re completely irresistible.” That she could get away with this made her ecstatic.
“I can say the same of you.” Morrigan slipped her arms around Maia, pulling her close. “You take my breath away in more than one way.” That was something that she’d never really experienced before either. Her previous lovers had never quite had the effect on her that Maia did.
“I… get really blown away by you. Constantly. Just need to look at you and...poof. I’m done for. Or listen to you speak. I have to fan myself when we’re on the phone, it’s all really too much for me.” Morrigan had an inflection to her speech that honestly went right to Maia’s core.
“So you are saying I can bring you to your knees simply by speaking?” A smirk crossed her face. “That is quite useful to know.” Morrigan would certainly be playing around with that in the future. She definitely was going to milk it for all she could get out of.
“You might have me at a disadvantage. I may have said too much. I’m going to have to kill you now.” She stroked her thumb along Morrigan’s chin, and then down her jaw. She leaned in and kissed her.
Morrigan grinned a bit, arming herself with a comeback. But then as Maia’s thumb moved along her chin and jaw, she found herself unable to say anything. And the kiss sealed the fact that she wouldn’t be able to say anything. So instead, she returned the kiss.
She pushed Morrigan down, slipping into her lap and deepening the kiss. There was a lot she wanted to say and a lot she’d decided to save for later, but kissing her like this was better than words. It was easier too. Plus, it probably gave them both plausible deniability.
