Entry tags:!complete, capable, stefan salvatore

Who: Capable and Stefan Salvatore
When: Early May
Where: Cafe
What: Random Encounter (Knight in Shining Armor?)
Rating/Warnings: Low/None (possible mentions of vamp stuff)
Status: Complete

The line in the cafe was practically out the door. Stefan sighed, shifting his weight from one hip to the other, thinking that he probably should have gone to a pub instead of a cafe for libations today. It would help curb the hunger that was clawing at the inside of his stomach, anyway. At least he was in control. Mostly.

After finally reaching only two spots away from the front of the line (with surprisingly few patrons in line behind him) Stefan was brushed to the side by an unruly customer, trying to cut to the front.

The man said, “hey, I just want a cup of coffee. Can you take care of that real quick? I’m tired of waiting.”

Stefan frowned. They were all tired of waiting. The vampire stepped forward. “Why don’t you get back in line, pal. We all just want a cup of coffee.”

Capable was stood waiting patiently to get her drink, luckily she was early for her shift at the bookstore so the wait wasn’t too bad but she did almost get pushed over by the man being rude.

“There is a queue” she said, “And everybody else is waiting”

The man turned around and just looked at them but before he could say anything the girl behind the counter said, “Anybody jumping the queue will have to wait even longer when I ask them to move to the back”

The impatient guy threw up his hands. “Fuck this place.” He said, then started pushing his way out past the line, complaining about too many immigrants making lines take too long, taking away jobs, etc.

No one was listening.

Stefan rolled his eyes and slipped his hands into his pockets. “Jackass,” he mumbled, then decided he didn’t want to give that guy any more thought than that.

Capable smiled at the man and nodded, “I agree” she said quietly, “There isn’t any need to be rude, everybody was waiting nicely”

“Exactly.” Stefan turned to the woman in front of him and cleared his throat. It was hard to see her as anything other than a meal, though he was trying. He really was. Poor Stefan was in such a bad place. “I don’t like it when people take things that they don’t deserve.”

Her smile brightened at those words, not having any idea that he might be struggling with something like not biting her, “Me either. I’m glad you were here, I wouldn’t have had the courage to say anything if you hadn’t first”

“Well, I’m glad you did. Sometimes it takes that one little push to make people stand up for themselves. And it’s good that we do.” He knew too well about how bullies could take over. He’d fought in too many wars to sit still when injustices were running rampant. Even if this was something tiny and nearly insignificant, he couldn’t let that lie.

“It is you’re right” she agreed, happy that she had been able to follow his lead. She didn’t like a lot of confrontation but she was glad she had stood up to the man. “Thank you, for inspiring my confidence” she grinned.

“Ah, well… you’re very welcome.” Stefan said, nodding once as he gave his full attention to the woman in front of him. “I’m glad to share the strength to tell off bullies.”

Before Capable could answer she was called forward to place her order so with a smile to her new found bully fighting friend she spoke to the barista and paid for her coffee.
