The transformation hadn’t been as bad as it was the first time around. For one, it happened quicker. The last time he’d writed in pain for three hours while every bone in his body had broken and reshaped itself. This time, he didn’t think it had lasted more than two hours, though even that had seemed like a lifetime. But more importantly, he hadn’t escaped his confines. The wolfsbane potion he drank seemed to have worked at least a little bit in keeping him docile. He’d woken up in the morning still chained inside the cave he’d imprisoned himself in.
He was, all things considered, feeling good about it. As close to good as he could feel, at least, given the dread he felt in the pit of his stomach every time he thought about the fact that this was his life now. But at least he had something to look forward to. He got dressed, texted Blossom that he was awake and heading back to his flat, and then went there to meet her.
It was nice to return to his flat, and he flopped down on his couch with a grunt as soon as he got home. The main living area was still pretty empty. It had some seating and a television hooked up to a couple of gaming consoles, and an island kitchenette, but that was about it. His bed and sleeping area were up a short stairway in the loft. He’d originally been planning on filling the living area with some workout equipment as a kind of personal gym, though with his new werewolf strength he found that the usual gym equipment wasn’t enough to provide him with much of a workout anymore. He wasn’t a messy guy, but he’d made sure to tidy up the day before in anticipation for Blossom coming.
He texted her one last time just to let her know that she was home now, and then leaned back and closed his eyes. He was still a little tired and sore, and maybe he’d be able to grab a bit of a powernap before Blossom made it over.
Blossom had worn herself out the night before, mostly worrying about Tyler, partly keeping herself busy so she wasn’t getting too worked up about it. She’d decided to put together all the fixings for a nice big waffle breakfast. Tyler was an active guy, and Blossom assumed that turning into a werewolf and then back to a human probably too a lot out of him too.
She had the waffle iron all packed up to take over to Tyler’s, pre-made waffle batter in a container ready to go. She hadn’t asked if he wanted savory or sweet waffles though, so she’d ended up getting a little of both; some strawberries, grapes, bananas and apples with brown sugar and icing sugar if they wanted sweet, some cheese, bacon and cooked ham for a savoury one. It made sense to her to have the option.
After Tyler texted her to let her know he’d shifted back and was on his way home, Blossom opted to shower and get ready to give him a chance to get himself cleaned up too. Hopefully he would just be tired and not emotionally drained from the whole thing, but if he was, she was going to be there to help, and not just feed him and get him to rest. It still didn't take her too long before she was in her car, supplies at the ready, and heading to Tyler’s apartment.
Parking up, Blossom got everything together, fixed her hair in the wing mirror and headed to the door to knock.
Tyler was on the edge of consciousness when he caught Blossom’s scent, and it made him smile sleepily before he sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. His senses had been steadily improving since his first werewolf transformation, and he used that so he could attempt to surprise Blossom by opening the door just before she knocked.
He felt a rush of affection when he looked at her. Heightened emotions were another side effect of the transformation, and while he was still struggling to keep them under control for the most part, he didn’t mind that now. Not when he looked at Blossom. “You’re a sight for sore eyes,” he said, leaning to give her a kiss.
One arm wound around Tyler’s waist, the smile of surprise at him getting to the door first -like he’d been waiting!- edging on the beaming side of things. It was nice to elicit that type of reaction from someone, wasn’t it? “Hey you,” leaning up into the kiss, Blossom was fairly subtle (she thought) in making sure he wasn’t overly tired or injured. “You’re okay right? You get on alright?” She wasn’t really sure how these things should work out, but she doubted it was a walk in the park.
“I brought all the fixings for a great waffle breakfast. I’m pretty sure I brought enough for a whole pack, but I’m sure you must be hungry after a whole night, and on your own too. That’s just not right.” Blossom knew that it was safer for everyone, but that didn’t mean she had to like it.
“I’m okay,” he assured Blossom, tucking a bit of her hair behind her ear before stepping aside to let her into the flat. “Every muscle aches, but that’s normal and it’s not anything worse than what I’d get after hitting the gym hard. I didn’t escape this time though so…” He smiled, obviously relieved by that.
Tyler chuckled. “I think I could probably eat enough for a whole pack,” he said. “I’ll try to save some for you though. What did you bring?” And then because he could, he took a sniff. “Bacon, ham... grapes?” There were stronger smelling fruit than the eggs - the bananas and strawberries both overpowered them, but he had hoped he’d still managed to pick them out properly.
Heading inside with Tyler, she was happy to hear that his restraining himself worked, he didn’t need to worry about hurting anyone if he’d stayed exactly where he was, and no one could hurt him either. “Aw, did you get to have a shower? You should’ve said and I’d have waited a little longer, let you soak your muscles.” And yes, she did run her hand up his back, because he had plenty of those from sports and she knew he likely knew how to take care of them, but still.
“If you sniff it all out you’ll ruin the surprise,” teasing was nice, it was so much easier than last month, and that was likely the case for both of them right now. “But yeah, there’s ham and bacon, and some cheese, in case you wanted something with protein or something.” Calories were important when you worked out a lot, right? “But I also put in a lot of fruits, strawberries, bananas, grapes, some syrup and sauce, sugar. You know. In case something sweet was on the cards.”
“No, I didn’t have a chance,” Tyler admitted, a little sheepishly. “I decided to try to get a bit of a nap in before you came over.” His smiled at her touch. “Besides, I wouldn’t have wanted you to wait any longer. The sooner I could see you, the better.”
“I will never say no to bacon,” Tyler said, reaching to relieve her of the bags for the short walk to the kitchenette. “If I ever do, you might want to make sure it’s not some weird Orange County version of opposite day. That all sounds delicious, Blossom. You really went all out, didn’t you?”
Oh, he was really just such a charmer, that was for sure. Blossom didn’t even bother to not grin stupidly at him when he said he’d wanted to see her sooner, disregarding a shower just so she wasn’t waiting? With the parcel of food and waffle maker placed on the counter, Blossom made a point of grabbing hold of Tyler to lean up for a quick kiss. “I’m glad,” because yeah, sooner was definitely better.
“If you want, you can go grab a quick shower now? While I get everything made up.” Bacon it was, she’d make some fruit salad for him to pick at if he wanted, something to keep his munchies down. Getting the waffle maker out so that she could get it heating up and ready to go with their breakfast, Blossom set to organising things. “Well, you’ve probably had a rough night, so, yeah. I figure I should make sure your morning is way better.” Which meant waffles, resting and doting girlfriend.
Tyler almost, almost invited Blossom to join him, but he stopped himself at the last minute. “What, do I stink?” he asked playfully, already peeling off his shirt and making his way to the shower. “That’s probably not a bad idea though. I’ll make it quick.”
She would’ve been more likely to agree if she didn’t have breakfast to make, especially when Tyler made the point of starting to strip right there and then. Boys. With their abs. But no, Blossom was providing food. She just scoffed a little, even if she was sneaking peeks, before turning back to the food.
She’d get everything ready so that when Tyler was showered she had it ready for him to just pick what to put on his waffle mountain, getting the batter mixed up better for laying over the waffle maker. Blossom was relatively thankful that she did this on the semi-regular with the family, since she knew she could make great waffles without the mistake of burning some.
It didn’t take long at all, and soon the whole kitchen area was smelling of waffles and Blossom had a good set up of all the goodies to go with them.
Tyler was true to his word, and he was out of the shower in just a few minutes. He put on a pair of jeans, and slung the towel around his shoulders to catch the water dripping from his short black hair, but he didn’t bother putting on a shirt. Partly because why the hell would he wear a shirt in his own apartment if he didn’t have to, but mostly because he knew he was a good-looking guy. Why would he deny Blossom the chance to take in his well-defined muscles, still glistening with the water from the shower.
He could smell the waffles from the bathroom, and the smell only increased once he opened up the bathroom door. “Smells great,” he said, approaching Blossom from behind and kissing her ear. If he dripped on her, he paid it no attention. “Best waffles I’ve ever smelled, and I’m sure that’s not just because they’re the first waffles I’ve caught a wiff of since I became a werewolf.”
Honestly, Blossom wasn’t overly bothered about the dripping, even less so with the press of freshly showered, warm, semi-naked boy against her back. She might not want to outright objectify him, but damn, her boyfriend was a total hottie. “I make the best waffles ever, ask anyone. Mine are the best.” She just grinned a little over her shoulder, darting up to grab a quick kiss from his lips and making no move to shift away whatsoever.
“Okay, how much bacon do you wanna load up on this?” Because she already had plenty cooking up for it. “I brought syrup too, if you like that on it.”
Tyler wasn’t happy with just a quick kiss, and he he brought hand to her face to to make it last and then dropped his hand back down to her waist. Maybe having a beautiful girl in his arms, in his kitchen, didn’t make the werewolf curse worth it, but it did make it a little easier to swallow. Especially if he really did have this to look forward to in the coming months.
There was a part of Tyler that would have been perfectly content with just a plate piled high with bacon. But, well, Blossom had brought so much other food and it all smelled, and looked, delicious. The idea of filling up on bacon, while appealing, was not enough to make him forget about the rest of the food. “What you’ve got cooking is fine,” he said, tightening his grip around her waist and resting his cheek on the side of her head. “I don’t want to miss trying anything.”
At this point, Blossom had to be very careful that she didn’t just spend the morning making out with Tyler in the kitchen. She was here to make sure he got something to eat to keep his energy up, a night of his wolf transformation would use up a lot of those reserves, it was important he stay energised. But with kisses like that and boy all around her, she was sorely tempted.
“Mixing sweet and savory is fun sometimes.” Like really fun. Peeling one finished waffle out of the iron, Blossom popped it on a plate, placing it to the side while she trailed her fingers along the back of Tyler’s hand around her waist, easily working with the enclosed space -it wasn’t like she was going far. “I like mixing the frust with the bacon, because then you’re getting all the important food groups.” Was she rambling? She had no idea.
Reaching up, Blossom gave his cheek a soft pet while leaning in against him. “There’s plenty, so you can come back for seconds?”
Tyler would have had zero problems with making out in his kitchen for the rest of the day. It would be an even better reward for not hurting anyone the night before than waffles. At least, that’s what he thought until his stomach let out a growl that would have shamed his inner wolf.
“I might need to come back for thirds,” Tyler said, planting another quick kiss against her temple before letting her go. “Sweet and savory, huh?” He plucked a couple of strips of bacon from the frying pan, blowing on his fingers a little after he quickly dropped them onto his plate. It had burned a little, the bacon grease more than anything, but the slight burns on his finger tips were healing as soon as he dropped the bacon and within a couple of seconds it was as if they had never been there at all. “What do you think? Bacon, syrup and… strawberries?” He asked, glancing around at the gathered ingredients.
Giggling softly at the reaction, Blossom just smirked a little, pleased that she was helping in some way, even if it wasn’t overly proactive in her opinion. Still, she’d definitely made enough food to be sure that there’d be no more tummy grumbling afterwards.
“Definitely sweet and savory,” although Tyler definitely had his very sweet moments. “But the strawberries are great with syrup.” Blossom didn’t have werewolf healing powers, so her bacon was placed on her waffle using the tongs, then a couple pieces of her fruit and some syrup herself. She really loved when she could eat mountains of bacon and not feel bad that Bubbles was there getting sad about the dead pigs. And Tyler needed plenty of meat to get his energy back, so that was a guilt free bacon pile. “Do you have a breakfast bar, or are we just sitting at the couch?”
“I have a breakfast bar,” Tyler said. “I think I’d rather eat on the couch though.” For one, it was more comfortable than the bar stools and Tyler was still sore after the transformation. It was like he’d spent the entire day before having a very intense workout. But most importantly, it would mean he’d get to sit closer to Blossom. Maybe even cuddle a little, though cuddling at eating syrupy waffles could be difficult. Plate in hand, he reached for Blossom’s hand so he could twine his fingers with hers, and lead her to the couch.
Where there was a will, there was a way! Blossom was sure that somehow there could be cuddling and syrupy goodies eaten. It might take some working out, possibly the cutting up of food before cuddling if only so that they only needed the one hand to eat and one arm was a cuddle up zone, but still. They were resourceful people.
Fingers twined happily with Tyler’s, Blossom was happy to follow along and work out however it best suited. “What about some mindless TV too? Something to relax your brain, it’ll help you unwind a little.”
“Mindless TV, waffles, and a gorgeous girl on my arm?” Tyler asked, bumping her lightly with his shoulder. “I think I’ve discovered the key to a perfect Sunday.”
