Who: Katou and Lexi What: Katou tries to trick Lexi into thinking he's Anna. When: First day of the body swap plot Where: Lexi and Anna (And Stefan!)'s place. Warnings/Ratings: Oh, language, probably. Otherwise none/low. Status: Complete
Katou wasn’t looking forward to stepping back inside the painfully girly room that he’d woken up in, but he’d confirmed that the girlie whose body he’d woken up in was, in fact, at his house and was, in fact, freaking the fuck out, having woken up without a face. This whole thing was really a gigantic pain in the ass, and Katou was not entirely pleased that he had to go from god-knows-where back to his home just so he could explain to someone how his body worked.
Despite the fact that he was mildly concerned that she might stab herself with her own hand before he could make it back home, Katou was in no rush. He tried not to rush around unless it was absolutely necessary. The grumpy guy downstairs had let Katou borrow his phone and had even fixed him up with a pretty tasty breakfast, and Katou figured he could probably do the girly the decency of grabbing her keys and her phone and getting changed out of her pajamas before he went over there.
He was nearly back at her room when he caught sight of someone else in the house (how many people did this girlie live with in the first place? It probably explained the size of the house at least), and figured he probably had at least a few more minutes where he could fuck around in Anna’s body before the gig was up, so he smiled cheerily.
Lexi was off today so she had planned to hang around for a little while before going out to do a little shopping. She had just come out of the kitchen, a glass in her hand, which was filled with blood from one of the bags in the mini fridge in her room. She wasn’t yet aware that it wasn’t Anna in her own body, because she hadn’t seen either of her roommates yet that morning.
Spotting Anna, or who she assumed was Anna, Lexi smiled as she set her glass down on the coffee table, “Morning. Got any plans for today?”
“Oh, you know, same old, same old,” Katou said, shrugging casually. “I was thinking of - is that blood?” He noticed it as he was talking, and the words were out of his mouth before he stopped them. Maybe it was tomato juice, but Katou had seen a fair amount of blood in his life (and especially in his dreams), and he was pretty certain that whatever was in the cup was exactly that.
Lexi’s brows furrowed slightly at the question, “Yeah. Just like it has been every morning.” It was an extremely strange question for Anna to ask considering she knew that Lexi, Stefan and Caroline were vampires. “You know that.”
Katou’s mind reeled, though he looked at Lexi impassively. For one, he had never pictued the girlie as being someone who’d be totally okay with people just… sipping on blood like it was no big deal. Why would someone be drinking blood in the morning? Unless they were a vampire.
Did Girlie live with a fucking vampire? And Katou had still needed to save her sorry ass from a bunch of vampires the year before? Maaan, why did Anna always make him work so goddamn hard? His expression changed then, and he gave nothing in particular an exasperated sigh and ran his hand through Anna’s hair. “Right, ‘cause of the whole vampire thingy,” he ventured, a hint of annoyance and his usual lazy drawl creeping back into his voice, though he was still poorly attempting to keep up the Anna act.
Lexi’s eyes narrowed slightly as she watched Anna. There was definitely something up with her and Lexi was slowly trying to figure it out. Anna didn’t seem to be her usual bubbly self and that was something to be concerned with. Even when shit was going down Anna was still usually more upbeat than this, “Anna, is everything alright? You seem off today.”
Katou sighed internally, and then plastered a smile on his face, though it looked more feral than anything that might have naturally crossed Anna’s face. “Oh yeah, just ducky,” he said in his peppiest voice. It sounded fake to his ears, and likely to anyone else’s ears, but then he’d never been able to muster genuine pep before. Sarcastic pep, yes. And happiness, yes. But not the kind of vapid airheadedness that he tended to associate with Anna whenever he thought about her (especially after getting an eyeful of Justin fucking Bieber in the girl’s closet). “I just had some strange like, dreams last night and I guess.”
“Oh really? Like Dream dreams or regular dreams?” Yeah, there was definitely something different about Anna; it was almost as if she wasn’t herself right now. As if she were someone else, but that would mean something crazy was going on, not that she would be surprised by that really.
Reaching into the pocket of her pajama pants, Lexi pulled her phone out and brought up the Net. It would be the quickest way to find out if something was going on and then she’d know how to handle Anna.
“Dream dreams,” Katou answered, because that seemed like a much better reason for acting off than normal dreams. Though the words were no sooner out of his mouth before he realized he had no idea what the hell Anna dreamed about. Unicorns and ponies, no doubt. Nothing she actually had to learn to protect herself from. Still, he was hoping that the blonde vampire in front of him wouldn’t ask.
“Anyway, I’m not sure if it’s any of your business,” he said to head off any of the questions. “I mean, it’s not like you need to know everything, is it?”
Scanning the net, Lexi saw a few posts from people who appeared to be in the wrong bodies. This had happened once before so that explained why Anna was more than likely acting strangely. Turning off the screen on her phone, Lexi put it back into her pocket and crossed her arms over her chest, “Dream dreams, huh? I thought your dreams were over.” Considering Anna was basically a Disney Princess, her dreams were something she talked about when they happened, so this was definitely a red flag.
Katou’s eyes narrowed as she checked her phone. She seemed more suspicious when she put the phone away, so Katou let out a heavy sigh. “Gig’s up, eh?” he said, his lazy drawl back in full. “Was that even five minutes? Man, this blows.”
Lexi couldn’t help but laugh as whoever was in Anna’s body finally gave up, “Just a little bit, yeah. So, who are you and is Anna freaking out wherever she is?” Lexi could only imagine how freaked out Anna would be if she was in a guy’s body. She was going to have to find out how to get in touch with her from whoever was in her body.
Katou laughed. “Oh, you better believe she’s freaking out. My body’s kinda… tricky,” he said. “But if I get there before she accidentally stabs herself or something, I’m sure my body’ll stay intact until we switch back.”
Lexi’s brow furrowed at the part about Anna accidently stabbing herself and she made up her mind then and there, “Why don’t we go over to your place and check on Anna. I’ll drive you there.” Lexi needed to make sure that Anna was alright and in case something did happen, she could always give her her blood to heal her.
“Naw, don’t worry about it. I can…” he stopped. He’d just tried to extend his wings, and discovered that they weren’t there. What kind of weird as bullshit was this? He had his astral powers but he didn’t have his wings? He scowled. “Yeah, fine, I’ll take the damn ride. But we’re gonna have to stop for cigarettes. Please tell me you don’t have Justin Bieber or One Direction or whatever in your car.”
“Maybe you shouldn’t smoke in someone else’s body until you’ve talked to them first.” Lexi was pretty sure that would be incredibly rude and she was tempted to compel whoever was inside Anna’s body to quit, “So let's go talk to her.” Using her vamp speed, Lexi went to her room to get her purse and was back in the blink of an eye then started towards the foyer, “And don’t worry, I won’t subject you to The Backstreet Boys.”
