Liv felt a little bad for the whole cutting Leon’s hair thing. Despite the fact that it made him look so much hotter, it was his body. His hair. And she hadn’t asked first. He had been nice enough to not smoke or my any physical changes to her body. She probably should have done the same. Not that him leaving her appearance alone mattered now. The dreams had decided to alter it. She liked exactly like her zombie self, platinum blonde almost white hair, alabaster skin, circles under her eyes. It was not a cute look. But even worse was what it meant. Soon she would no longer crave food, would no longer be able to survive on it. She’d have to feed on brains.
But she wasn’t going to think about that now. Okay it was impossible not to think about. But she was choosing to focus on other things. Like seeing Leon. She hadn’t since the whole swap. She wasn’t sure if he was mad at her but they had a job to do. The autopsy report was ready, she was just waiting for him to show up to collect it and go over her findings.
Leon had been pissed at Liv for a while. He’d made his partner go for the autopsy results when he could make him, and that was just fine for Leon. Of course, after a couple of days, he began to think that maybe Liv had been on to something. For instance, women seemed to be far more receptive when he smiled at them now, and he’d even caught a few people checking him out. Brushing his hair in the morning was a million times easier, and for a while he’d just showed up at work having just rolled out of bed (at least, until Jill, one of his fellow detectives, had come up to him and started flattening out his hair saying the bedhead look was only sexy when it was planned).
In fact, within a few days he was half convinced he would have cut his hair himself, and his anger at Liv was all but forgotten. Especially once he caught sight of Liv for the first time. She’d mentioned that she looked different, but he barely even recognized her when he saw her. “Is dream you going through a goth phase?” he asked when he approached her.
Liv was half convinced Leon’s partner was going to show up to collect the autopsy results again. She was slightly surprised when Leon walked into the morgue as casual as could be. Like nothing had happened. That was until he saw her hair. Her new hair style was no where near as flattering as Leon’s. “Something like that,” she said with a frown. She was tempted to say it didn’t look half as good as his hair but she didn’t want to open that can of worms. Just in case there was still some anger there.
“COD was asphyxiation,” she said nodding at the corpse deciding to of for a subject change instead. “Best guess for murder weapon would be a bag,” she wrinkled her nose. What a horrible way to die.
“Well, I hope she gets over it. You look better as a… not a goth.” He frowned. “Though, I guess if you’ve gotta have the look for any job, this is the one you oughtta go for.”
His expression changed from the gentle ribbing to one more serious as he looked at the corpse. “Well shit. I fucking hate it when they go by bags.” It made finding the murder weapon a helluva lot harder, that was for sure. It was one that was very easily overlooked. “You got anything more than that? We didn’t get lucky and have him swallow some of it, did we?”
Liv wasn’t entirely sure how she felt about that half compliment. Of course she knew she looked better before. But this was what she looked like now. What she was stuck with. It was only a matter of time before brains started to look appetizing. “Yeah,” she mumbled a frown on her face. “At least it fits my occupation.”
“Unfortunately not,” she said with another frown. “Didn’t find any remnants at the scene?” Of course her psychic abilities would come in handy now but she was still human. No asphyxiated woman brain for her.
“We found a lot of trash at the scene,” Leon sighed. “I was just hoping we’d be able to narrow it down, give the guys in forensics a bit of a break.” He shrugged. “But hey, it’s not in my job description to test piles of trash all day.” Leon really did appreciate what the guys in forensics did - while he knew his job wouldn’t be impossible without people looking for DNA for him, he did know it would be significantly harder and there was a higher range of collaring the wrong guy. That didn’t mean that he envied their job even a little bit.
Going through trash was not something Liv ever wanted to do. Though it was probably more pleasant than sorting through stomach contents. “I’m sure the forensic team will have a blast with that,” Liv said sarcastically. “But you’ll keep me updated on the case?” she asked hopefully considering he had been upset with her the past few days.
“You bet,” Leon said, shooting her a smile. He wasn’t going to tell her it was okay that she cut his hair because it really wasn’t, but it had all turned out okay and it was all forgiven. But he had the feeling that Liv was still looking for some kind of olive branch, which he was happy to give. “When I catch the guy, we’ll go for drinks to celebrate.”
Liv did know that she really should have asked him first. She wasn’t expecting him to forgive her or tell her it was all okay, however hopefully they would be able to get back on track. And with his comment it seemed like they would be. “Sounds great,” Liv flashed a smile. “I’ll even buy this time.”
