WHO:Blossom & Sharon WHEN: (backdated) Bodyswap plot; day 1 WHERE: Sharon's House WHAT: Awkward introductions and figuring out how to get through it. RATING/WARNINGS: Low/None STATUS: Complete
Sharon woke in a strange place. This wasnât her first rodeo, so she was used to the weirdness of Orange County. When she woke she didnât panic⌠at first. But when she realized some stranger was at her apartment with Viv⌠Sharon sprung from the bed, glad that the body she was in was athletic. She pulled on whatever clothes she found on the floor or in the closet, and tugged on shoes--without even digging for socks.
Thankfully, there was a man wandering around the house. Sharon asked him for a car, and was handed keys. She had no idea if the car belonged to the body she was in, or if this was a borrowed car⌠but she needed it to get the heck out. There was a phone, too, and she used that to try and communicate with whoever was in her body.
Blossom had had a rough night before. Getting stood up did that to a girl. But sheâd gone to bed, prepared to face the next day with a brave face and just carry on with things. She had not expected to get woken up by the whining of a small baby. Nor did she expect to be in some strange house that wasnât hers, with a child that wasnât hers, with blond hair that definitely wasnât hers.
Of course Blossom was curious and wandered through to find the little girl, warbling slightly but just looking for some attention really. âOh, okay, hi there little thing. You wanna come out?â Picking her up and taking her to the living room seemed like a smart choice, it was even better when she got a text from whoever was in her body. Thank god she recognised her own number and Sharon had memorised hers. With Viv changed and sitting with Elmo, Blossom had navigated through the kitchen to find some pre-bottled milk for the kid that just needed heating up and then they were good.
Sitting watching Elmo on a Friday morning, waiting for Sharon. It was all good, they were fine. Blossom was not freaking out.
Sharon drove like a bat out of hell to get home. She tried her best to be cautious, but then sheâd remember Viv was alone with a stranger wearing Sharonâs skin and sheâd hit the gas again. Thankfully, it wasnât a long drive to get home from where sheâd woken.
It was very strange knocking on her own front door. Sharon didnât have her keys, so after trying the handle, she had to knock excitedly.
Blossom had gotten up to run to the door before stopping and looking at the baby. Did she leave the baby? Bring the baby? It was just to the door but⌠âAh, damn.â Grabbing the baby, silently apologising for leaving Elmo, but she didnât want Viv to fall to the side or crawl off somewhere or something bad. That would just be terrible!
Baby in arms, Blossom navigated to the door and⌠okay, what key did that? âJust a sec!â Baby bouncing on her hip and keys in the door, Blossom finally found the right one and swung the door open to⌠herself. Hmm.
She expected that, really she did, she hoped it was Sharon, with her body, coming to make sure baby Viv was okay. Didnât really prepare her for seeing her own body though. âI am a little weirded out, but so glad to see you.â
The door opened and Sharon was standing on the other side. With Viv. Wait. Sharon was on this side of the door, staring at herself with her daughter. This was so crazy and confusing, and Sharon just wasnât sure what to think or feel. She reached forward with a hand to touch her daughterâs head, and Viv, surprisingly, reached for her mom. Practically swung into the now-redheadâs arms.
âYou must be Blossom,â Sharon said, using Blossomâs voice. Viv settled in against Sharonâs hip. âItâs nice to meet you.â
And now she was seeing her with a baby. She looked cute with a baby. Baby plus Blossom was a good combo. âHi! I am, hello, Sharon, of course.â For a moment, Blossom just stood there, looking a little frazzled but smiling all the same. âOh, shoot, of course, câmon in. Well, of course you know to come in, itâs your house. Iâm sorry, here.â
Moving out of the way, Blossom let Sharon get inside with the baby, closing the door so that Sharonâs neighbours couldnât see her being a total dork brain right there. âSo this is weird, right?â
âThis is really weird,â Sharon said after stepping inside. She turned back around to face⌠herself. âI mean⌠itâs even weirder that Viv seems to know who I am.â The baby was grabbing at Sharonâs hair--borrowed hair, really, since she was in the other body. âI guess thatâs good? Hopefully she wasnât too much of a handful for you.â
Sharon moved into the kitchen to put the baby in her high chair, then turned back around to face the other woman. âHave you had breakfast? Iâm sure we can find some eggs or something.â
âItâs probably more to do with the bond than the looks,â although Viv had been okay with her all morning so far, possibly because of her appearance, it seemed babies were much more intuitive than people let on.
âI fed Viv, it seemed more important making sure she had her bottle, but I didnât want to go rummaging around your stuff.â And she didnât want to leave the baby for too long and sheâd seemed happy to sit and watch the television. âEggs are fine though.â Quick breakfasts before flying out the door for school (not literally) were sort of common place.
âOh. Right. Feeding Viv. Well, if you feel the need to express, you can? Weâre still nursing, so⌠you can use the pump or you can nurse her. Sheâs a champ.â God, Sharon thought this was awkward. She hoped it would be over sooner rather than later. And hopefully hormones or something would erase these weird memories for both Blossom and Viv.
âIâll make eggs.â Sharon moved around the small kitchen with ease and grace, pulling out food from the fridge and a pan from under the counter.
Express. If she felt the need to⌠Holy popsicles, breast feeding. Of course Sharon was still⌠You know. Blossom could feel her cheeks heating up, Sharonâs cheeks heating up, because goodness that was⌠Sharonâs breasts, not hers and thank goodness too because that would. âRight, of course. I canâŚ. Iâll keep a look out-- Um feel out⌠Iâll keep tabs on that.â Jeez, could she be more awkward?
âDo you want me to take Viv while you⌠Or I can cook, I think. I mean, I make breakfast at home. Usually toast, I eat a lot of toast, itâs quick and I can drive while eating it,â Blossom was rambling, the idea of breast feeding was making her ramble. âSo how old is Viv?â Segue, talk about something else!
âItâs okay. She can sit in her high chair.â Sharon said, motioning to the babyâs chair. It made Sharon feel a little guilty to mention the breastfeeding thing, but surely Blossom would find out eventually. Her breasts would feel hard and painful if they became engorged. And nursing would help with that, but that did involve a baby sucking on her body. Weird, right? But the pump was an excellent option. Sharon could show her how it worked later.
âShe was born July 26th, last year. So sheâs not quite a year old yet.â Sharon explained. âI guess that makes her⌠ten months? Maybe?â
Okay, so yeah, Blossom was a little weirded out, but hey, it was totally natural and it was a fact of life, she mightâve been a twenty-year-old student, but clearly Sharon was a functioning adult with a baby and Blossom would just need to suck it up and accept that she would do this for the baby. She was a responsible adult and could do this.
âSheâs adorable.â Which was a fact, it helped that she wasnât overly fussy and Blossom wasnât ripping her hair out trying to manage it. Probably a good thing, all things what they were. âSo, um, do I need to call in somewhere for you? Work or⌠something?â It was probably very presumptuous, but she got the âworking adultâ vibe from Sharonâs home really.
âIâll let my boss know whatâs going on.â Sharon said, nodding. âI can just log into my email and explain. My boss is my cousin, and sheâs local, a Dreamer, and sheâll understand. So weâre good on that front. What about you? Class or work need a call? And weâll probably have to talk to your dad, too.â
Taking a seat near Vivâs high chair, Blossom just nodded along as Sharon spoke, it was handy that she could manage that. âI can email my professors, just tell them I got sick and they can send my work through, so thatâll be no problem.â It might kill her to catch up depending on how long this lasted but she could hopefully work through it on the weekend if needed. âUm, we can call my dad later, heâll be at work now anyway. Itâs better not to interrupt his work.â Crazy things were known to happen if the Professor was too involved in something. âIâll text my sisters later, but theyâll totally understand.â Since the three of them were working their own way through the dreams now too.
âKinda handy that most of us can just roll with things, right?â
It was, indeed, lucky that they were all Dreamers and they could explain themselves appropriately. So many people in the area seemed to understand without having to be told the whole story. That was a good thing.
âYup.â Sharon said, grinning in the body that wasnât her own. She cracked some eggs into a pan and got breakfast started. All in all, this wasnât going to be so bad.
