Who: Irisa and Sarah
What: Catching up
When: Mid April
Where: Sarah’s office
Rating: Low
Status: Complete

Irisa hadn’t met up with Sarah for some time now and she’d had a lot of ideas that she wanted to share with her. Heading into the office at the university that Sarah was given when she was there, she knocked on the door and waited for it to be answered.

Sarah wasn’t the kind to push people to see her, it wasn’t productive for either of them if she did but she did try to keep an eye on those she saw. She hadn’t seen Irisa for a while and the girl did play on Sarah’s mind sometimes. When the knock came she called out ‘Come in’ she didn’t have any scheduled appointments but sometimes students just dropped in, which was why she was there after all.

Irisa poked her head around the door when she heard the invitation. “Hey, this ok?” she asked, smiling at Sarah.

“Irisa” she smiled nodding and motioning her in, “Of course it is. It’s good to see you, funnily enough I was just thinking about you”

“Hopefully not wondering what crime I’d been arrested for,” Irisa joked as she entered and shut the door behind her. Moving to the desk, she sat down and cast a little smile at the counsellor. “So uh...how’ve you been? It’s been a while,” she shrugged.

“Not at all. I just wondered how you were getting on and hoping you were doing well at whatever it is you decided to do” Sarah said, smiling, “I’ve been good thank you, busy but I can’t complain about that really. And you?”

“I’ve been...busy,” Irisa laughed, sitting forward in her seat and moving her hands under her hands so she was sat on them. It was a lifelong habit of trying to stifle the urge to fiddle with something, in this case something on her desk. “I’ve been trying a few things out, trying to figure out what I can do with my life, y’know?”

“I’m glad to hear that. Have you managed to figure anything out? If I can help I will do you know, all you need to do is ask” Sarah said, smiling, she was pleased. Irisa seemed calmer than a lot of the time they’d spent together.

Irisa smiled up at Sarah. “Thanks, it means a lot,” she nodded in acknowledgement. “I uh, I did want to ask your opinion actually. You know I have some pretty...unique skills and that I’ve been struggling to find something that might work for me in the future that won’t involve doing time,” she explained. “Well, I tried helping out at the hospital, but...it just didn’t feel right. Well, I was talking with my roommate and we were thinking that maybe I should be thinking about being on the other side of the law,” she shrugged with a little smile on her face as she told Sarah.

“The police force? I have to admit I wouldn’t have suggested it but thinking about it, it’s actually a rather good fit for you. You can use your skills in order to help people” Sarah said nodding and smiling more as she spoke, “It sounds rather impressive Irisa, do you have any contacts?”

Irisa grinned, knowing it was a bit of an odd fit considering her past. “Thanks. I think my trainer might know some people. I haven’t brought it up with him yet, but I’m hoping he knows people. He’s the kind of guy who knows people,” she joked.

“You know somehow I had a feeling you’d know someone” Sarah smiled, “So how are things going at home? Everything with Myrcella and Jeremy still going okay?”

Laughing, Irisa shrugged innocently. “I’m sure I have no idea what you’re talking about. Things at home are fine, but I get the feeling that Myrcella and Jeremy would like to have a bit more...alone time, if you catch my drift. They’ve both been great and I owe a lot to them, but I don’t want to...outstay my welcome I guess. I think it’s why I want to get myself sorted out, y’know?” Irisa was always amazed at how easy it was to talk to Sarah, how the words just seemed to roll off her tongue.

“I’m sure you couldn’t. Myrcella sounds lovely from what you’ve told me and you two have a good time right?” Sarah said, “I’d maybe talk to her and see what she says. Don’t assume anything okay?” Part of Sarah’s job was to be easy to talk to which is why she never put on airs or graces she didn’t have. She was down to earth and honest. It was as simple as that.

“I know, I know,” Irisa sighed and turned her head to look out the window. “Myrcella’s one of the best people I’ve ever known and she would probably let me stay until the end of time if I let her,” she took another deep breath and turned to face Sarah again. “That whole talking thing...it’s so not me,” she gave a wry smile. “Got any advice?” she asked hopefully.

“Really? I hadn’t noticed” Sarah couldn’t help teasing her a little bit but with a smile, “My advice? Just be casual about it. Mention it over lunch sometime, sound her out about it. It doesn’t have to be such a big nerve wracking conversation”

“Hmm...maybe I can bring it up when she’s messing with my hair next,” Irisa considered, already trying to plan what it was she needed to say and how to do it. “Be casual, I can do that,” she sighed then smiled up at Sarah. “Thanks, and sorry for y’know, barging in without an appointment.”

“See there’s always a way and that also means that you won’t be worrying about it too much” Sarah said before shaking her head, “You’re always welcome Irisa, I’m just glad my diary was clear. It’s good to see you again”

Irisa smiled at Sarah and stood to leave. “Thanks again, see you later!” she waved and headed out, preparing herself for a talk with Myrcella.

“You too, make it sooner next time” Sarah called after her with a smile.
