When: End of April
Where: University Campus
What: Ghosts and apparitions
Rating/Warnings: Low/None
Status: Complete

It was nearing ten p.m and Touya still hadn’t come home yet. He’d been having more encounters with them lately as he called the ghosts without actually having to say the word ghosts. He just wasn’t saying it as frequently. He had some late classes, but not typically on Monday nights. There was a special reason he’d stayed behind on campus. He’d found a piano last week and had been taking whatever time they allowed him to use it. He found it helped put his slightly frayed nerves at ease to play.

He hadn’t looked up. He hadn’t even realized what time it was, nor did he realize he wasn’t alone anymore. He was playing a song without sheet music, and yet it was a song he knew well. It was one his mother had composed before she died, one close to his heart. He’d stopped playing it for quite a while actually, his heart hurt recently when he’d thought of it instead but it was important to him. It was connected to so many happy memories he’d nearly forgotten, and his mother's face that seemed like a distant memory to him these days. He paused as his fingers stroked the ivory keys and it caused the notes to sound funny. “Chigau..” He murmured softly as he backtracked and repeated the part.

The room was spacious and clean, reminded him a lot of the music room back in high school actually. A few metal chairs with props for instrumental accompaniment nearby. A blackboard even sat on the wall behind him.

Touya went to play the next notes when he felt something cold touch his hand. A figure behind him, but it wasn’t who he was expecting. It was the figure of a woman, a blurred familiar outline that immediately caused his hand to stiffen on the keyboard and the notes to cease.

Yukito wasn’t one to worry easily or to need to know his best friend now boyfriends every move but when Touya still wasn’t home at the time they normally turned in for the night he did worry. He had called his cell phone but got the voicemail and he didn’t want to text Sakura as that would only worry her too.

Checking the schedule he decided to head to the last classroom Touya would have been in before heading home, it wasn’t a late class but perhaps something had happened and his phone had died before he could let Yuki know where he was.

He had a light jacket on and was walking around the campus when he heard music, and not just any music, it was something he recognised. Following it he watched from the doorway as Touya played, frowning when he stopped and looked round at something. “Touya?” he called out softly moving into the room.

Touya was usually pretty good at calling, but Yuki was correct in that assumption. He’d forgotten to charge his phone before he left for school that day, and now it was long since out of power. The figure behind him wasn’t a violent one, Touya knew that immediately but it wasn’t the only person in that building either. There were others that were reading off the charts with emotions Touya could pick up on. Anger was easy, subtle was more difficult. The one beside him was one of those, a subtle attempt at a cool touch. As though it were trying to be of some comfort to the other spirits near by that were growing more and more hostile with each passing moment. They weren’t supposed to be there, but Touya wasn’t exactly sure what to do about that. He tried to ignore it and go back to playing, but they didn’t appreciate that either.

A chair flew past him through a window near by, shattering it to the ground outside. Touya looked up and over at it, playtime was apparently over. He stood from the bench and moved over to look at the damage, this was the first time any of the ghosts near him had actually attempted to pick up solid objects like that.

Yukito startled when the chair flew and he rushed forwards to Touya, “Are you alright?” he asked worriedly. Taking his arm in concern, he looked around but couldn't see anything. He wasn't sure what was going on but his bigger concern was Touya right now.

Touya seemed physically fine at a glance, but emotionally a bit shaken. Which for him was a pretty big thing in it’s own right. Showing emotional distress was a thing Touya had become rather skilled at not doing. “Yuki?” His arm was bruised, it’d been struck by that chair. He winced a bit at the grasp but didn’t say anything otherwise. He was wearing long sleeves, so it wasn’t going to be something visible just then. Touya looked around, there were only a few figures he could see-but he hadn’t seen them before or he’d probably have stayed out of the room. “We need to go.” There were too many and Touya didn’t know what to do with it yet.

Yuki noticed how shaken Touya was and noticed the wince so let go of his arm and instead linked their hands, he’d be sure to check him once they got home. “Okay, come on let’s go home” he said with a nod, leading the way and not letting go of Touya’s hand.

Touya hated showing weakness. Since his mom died he’d basically locked his emotions away behind a wall for Sakura’s sake. His father’s too. He knew his dad had to be suffering more than anyone, so Touya didn’t want to make things hard on him either but in the process he virtually shut down until Yuki came along one day. After their mother had died he’d basically become cold toward anyone who wasn’t family, but he didn’t stand for bullies either. He couldn’t let that continue. Nobody picked on him really, he was quiet and tall for a Japanese kid. He glanced back at the building as he was being lead away. “...My mom is there. I think.”

Yuki knew that he was lucky to see the emotional side to Touya, it wasn’t all the time but when Touya did open up Yukito was always supportive and caring. Touya had saved him from bullies and since then, whether he knew it or not, Yukito had been Touya’s. Mind, body, soul and heart. “Oh Touya” he breathed moving his arm around Touya’s waist, “Are you okay?”

“Why would she be there?” He really hadn’t gotten to figuring out where he was mentally or physically. He was more worried about her ghost. He’d told Sakura their mom was up in a happy place where the souls of good people belonged-why was that ghost making a liar out of him? And why would she be in there with violent spirits? “What am I supposed to do about it?” He glanced over at Yuki, at a complete loss. Worry flooding his face. Even if he wanted to do something, Touya wasn’t exactly equipped.

“Maybe she was looking out for you?” Yukito suggested, “Your abilities seem to be developing here, so maybe she’s here to look after you until you know what you can and can’t do and are able to look after yourself” He may not have known Touya’s mother but she must have been a lovely woman if Sakura and Touya were anything to go by.

“I don’t know..I’ve never seen her before. Not like this anyway.” He chewed at his lower lip nervously for a moment before he released it and looked back at the building they just were. He was no expert on ghosts or helping them cross over or whatever as those internet people had said they did with this sort of power. The only thing he’d really used it for was to keep an eye on Sakura in the past. Or in the dreams, whatever the dreams were. “...Ne..Yuki, what do you dream about?” It was an odd question at best, but maybe in this place not so much. Touya had stopped walking entirely, standing under the cover of a tree not far from the building. He didn’t want to go much further away just yet. He couldn’t bring himself to leave entirely.

When Touya stopped so did Yukito, he kept hold of his boyfriend though. As a way to ground them both perhaps. “School, living with grandparents I never see, strange things happening around Sakura-chan and I dream of you. You are always there Touya” he smiled softly.

He didn't mind Yuki staying close at all. In fact he preferred it to the distant worry he often felt lingering from his recent dreams. Yuki was going to disappear. Sakura had said so. She had freaky magic powers that made Touya want to believe she was right. Whether or not these were Orange County dreams or a mixture of his own fears sifting into them he wasn’t sure. Either way it didn't help things. Touya frowned subtlety. “Does the word Clow mean anything to you?”

Yuki knew something was wrong because Touya had been texting him more often lately, asking odd questions and being more...clingy than usual. Not that Yuki minded but it was out of character for him which indicated something was wrong. “Clow? I don’t think so” he said, the word sounded familiar but he couldn’t say why.

Touya typically was not the clingy type at all no. But lately he couldn’t help but to hover a bit after Sakura’s recent panic induced message. Yuki couldn’t disappear. So far he seemed solid, but other times he worried he was losing it. Occasionally the ghosts like to taunt him a bit, shift into the forms of people he loved-some of them not even dead. That part of all this was so frustrating. And worrying on Yuki’s part. The only reason he’d known they weren’t Yuki at second glance was the way they felt. Ghosts generally had a different feeling to him than humans. “He shows up in my dreams sometimes. Funny thing is I’m not sure those dreams are The Dreams or not. He has this...annoying presence about it.” Touya said as he made a face about the whole experience. “He wears robes like a witch or something.”

“If they feel very realistic then they might be the Dreams, people say they feel different” Yukito said, and how own did feel very different, “Has this Clow person said anything to you? Given you any clue about who they are?” he asked, keeping close and a possessive grip on Touya’s hand.

“Not really, they don’t even say much to begin with. It’s more of a..presence if that makes sense. Like I’m aware but I shouldn’t be.” He frowned at the idea of it all, Clow was really going to make things difficult though, he knew that much. “I don’t think I like him. But I don’t hate him...it’s...I don’t know..” He didn’t mind the suddenly possessive streak Yuki was showing off there, in fact it was kind of welcome. It was grounding. “..I don’t think I can do anything here tonight even if I wanted to…Just..don’t tell Sakura. I don’t want her worrying about it.” She obviously had enough on her mind.

“You’ve always been a sensitive soul Touya” Yukito said with obvious affection, obviously now that sensitivity extended to ghosts and spirits too. “Of course not, she doesn’t need to know. Let’s go home Touya, I will make you a hot drink and we can relax a little ne?”

“Just don’t tell anybody.” He gave Yuki a stern look, though it faded nearly immediately. Touya would figure out something to do about his mother being back there, but now he couldn’t think straight enough to figure out what. He let his fingers slip between Yuki’s, needing the comfort even if it was just a little gesture. “That sounds good.”

“Your secret is safe with me Touya” Yukito promised squeezing his fingers and lifting them to press a very brief kiss to Touya’s knuckles before tugging him along so they could go home. Yukito planned on cuddling Touya, because he thought he needed it even if Touya didn’t realise it.
