Rosalind hadn't meant to corner him. In fact she thought she had left the offer wide open. If he wasn't feeling up to it then he could decline, which he did. A tad disjointedly which made Rosalind feel worse for even mentioning it in the first place. She took a deep breath, and nodded. "Even if you don't consider it I'll see you here tomorrow, won't I?"
Her words were kind, with no expectations again behind them. The last thing she wanted to do was to push away the barista she had become friendly with. Rosalind had so few friends here as it was she didn't want to ruin this as well. When he stood she couldn't help but do the same. He was taller than her even though she had her heels on.
"There's nothing to apologize for," she said quickly, wanting to get it out before he darted away behind the counter. "I shouldn't have been so forward. I'm the one that's sorry." She began to gather her things, notebook and pen, and slipped them into the bag that was hanging over the back of her chair. She picked up her coffee and downed the rest of it as well, wiping at the corners of her mouth when she was done.
"I should go. I have to meet with my editor. Talk about these ideas," she said as she patted her shoulder bag. "But I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" She started to back away, stumbling over the leg of a chair haphazardly. Not at all lady like, but at least she had caught her balance. "Bye." She held up a hand at the last minute, smiled sweetly at the man, and turned on her heel to leave.
