Storms or no storms Touya was prepared to go to work. Vigilant as always, rain or shine Touya never missed a day if he was scheduled. Plus the new job paid very well. No, he still hadn’t actually said what it was he did. He was dressed in all black though, non descript as was everything else he brought to work with him. In the past he’d had jobs that had given him lunch bags with the company name, so at the very least someone could figure it out by said bag. This one however did no such thing. Touya brought money to this one. It was a rare thing for him to do in general, he didn’t like to waste money on food when cooking was a thing he was good at.

He hadn’t seen the internet today telling about the blood rain, but it didn’t take long for him to discover as he stepped foot outside their school. “....Nope.” He said as he held out a hand to touch some of it, not quite believing what he was seeing. He turned back around and went back to the dorm. “Looks like works off.” He said with a small shrug as he closed up the umbrella and put it down by the door. His hand still blood red from the water.

Yukito still hadn’t brought up Touya’s job, after discovering he worked at what looked like a strip club it had been harder to bring up than he had thought it would be. And Touya still hadn’t mentioned it. Yukito had an interview to serve in a new bakery opening not far away and he was hoping that maybe with him working too Touya might open up a little.

Looking up he frowned, “What’s wro...Touya! Are you hurt?” he said moving swiftly over to his friend as he saw his hand, cradling it in his own as he looked at it, “What happened?”

“It’s not mine.” Touya said with a shake of his head and shrugged. “The sky is bleeding.” He didn’t know how else to describe it, or what it meant-but he probably should have been more startled? However it felt unnatural. Unnatural things didn’t startle him much anymore. Nearly nothing did. “I’m okay. Just not going to make it to work in that storm.” He pointed at the window with his free hand, it had gotten worse since he noticed the rain before. It looked like a horror film.

Yukito let himself breathe better once he knew Touya wasn’t hurt though he continued to hold the hand in his without realising it. “The sky is...Oh my goodness” he said as he looked out of the window, “How awful. I do hope nothing terrible has happened” Because this was definitely not normal, not that this county really seemed to do normal anyway. “Well it seems neither of us are going anywhere for a while, I do hope nobody tries to go out in it”

Touya was glad he’d thought to bring the umbrella, but now their little umbrella holder thing was going to have to be cleaned out later from blood. “Yeah..It’s a mess. I’ll have to contact my boss I guess.” He frowned at the idea and glanced down at Yuki’s hand. “I’m getting blood on you.” He a little reluctantly tried to take his hand away for a moment to at least go wash it off.

“”Will they mind? I mean they can’t really blame you for not wanting to travel in this” Yukito said before he blushed a little, “It’s okay, we should wash your hand before you get it on your clothes” he said and he’d need to wash his own as well.
“I don’t know. I don’t really know my boss well. I make it a point not to.” He added a little awkwardly before he realized how awkward it probably sounded. Most people at least knew their bosses a little. “I was thinking of looking into getting a car here, but obviously that won’t help for now” He said with a shrug as he nodded. “Yours too, dork.” He teased a little as he made his way to the sink and placed it under a bit of lukewarm water. “I doubt I need to tell you this, but the water isn’t natural.” He commented offhandedly, if something was even partially magical lately these days it seemed Touya knew about it somehow. “Feels different.” He could literally feel it tingle its way down his spine at times. This was doing that.

“Are they not nice? If they don’t treat you well you should find somewhere else” Yukito said, wondering if this should be the point at which Yukito told him he knew he worked in a strip club. “Oh, yeah” he said offering Touya a happy grin before he moved to the sink as well. “I assumed it wasn’t since blood rain tends to be a little suspicious. You think it’s magical?” he asked, knowing about Touya’s gift in the dreams from what his best friend had told him.

“She is fine I’m sure...I’ve made a point of not finding out though.” He let the blood wash away and toweled off his hands Glancing over at Yuki he responded simply enough. “With this city who the hell knows anymore what’s normal. Even when it rains blood it doesn’t feel different than when it stops.” Only slightly more intense on the back of his neck. Touya knelt then to peer through their fridge to see if they had any sort of food worth cooking. Not much, but there was a little meat he’d brought in the other day that he could use. A steak he could split easily enough. “Hungry?” Probably a dumb question, Yuki always was.

“How come?” he asked curiously, wondering if Touya was unhappy there but couldn’t leave for some reason. “There does seems to be a lot of strange occurances around here and people seem to take them all in their stride” he agreed, before giving Touya a look, “I am always hungry, you know that”

“She’s just a bit….unconventional?” Touya said with a shrug as he padded off his hand on a towel and tossed it over to Yuki. “It’s hard to explain.” He wasn’t afraid of her, but then-even if Touya was it wasn’t as though he was about to go saying so. Touya was a incredibly proud person. Even being in a place like that was making his skin crawl, he wasn’t the type of guy who ogled women like objects. He wasn’t really interested in them these days period.

“Okay” Yukito said taking the towel and drying his own hands, he wasn’t going to push. Touya obviously didn’t want to talk about it and despite his worry he didn’t want to force his best friend to confide in him. “So what is your plan for the day now?” he asked.

“It pays well. If it continues I might actually be able to buy a car.” Touya was literally all about the paycheck when it came to this job. Otherwise he wouldn’t have stayed at all. “Of course I need to get a license here and all…” Touya still only had a passport and a working visa as well as identification card-he hadn’t gotten a real driving license yet but he was optimistic about getting one.

“Wow, sounds like it does pay well” Yukito commented, wondering yet again exactly what Touya was doing. “The test looks hard, I saw it online. Though I am sure you can do it Touya” he added with a smile.

“It really doesn’t make much sense, but then again most government issue tests don’t.” He pulled out ingredients for pancakes with an eyebrow raised “Dinner breakfast?” Touya couldn’t think of anything else he’d want. “I kinda want a motorcycle actually..” He mused at the idea of it and set his phone on the counter so he could grab more items out of the fridge. “..Apparently it’s Valentine's Day.” He added with a hint of confusion, he’d missed that entirely today. “...That’s eerie and a little dramatic..” He was entertained by the idea. Sometimes his idea of humor was a little odd.

“I guess not” Yukito agreed before nodding, “Sounds perfect” Pancakes were always a welcome food. “I think you’d look good with a motorcycle, I mean it would be handy even in traffic” he said, trying not to blush. “At least we don’t have anybody to worry about, unless you’ve been keeping a secret Touya?”

“It can’t be much harder than a bike.” Touya shrugged, and with the amount of traffic he was discovering between Orange and Los Angeles it was probably a better investment than a big chunky car. “We could take rides on sundays.” There were a lot of people who did that apparently, just took a weekend and rode bikes around wherever they felt like it. Traffic was less, and school was out then so it might be the perfect excuse to get away. “I think I like the idea.” He began mixing ingredients together to put in the pan. “Me? No nobody. I mean.no.” He gripped the wooden spoon handle a little too tight as he turned away to pour the soupy mixture into a waiting pan. “You don’t?” He had known in high school Yuki didn’t have anyone, but he really didn’t stalk his love life in college to find out-but it was a relief to hear. For whatever reason.

“That would be nice Touya, get to see more of the area. Maybe even take a picnic” because Yukito did think about his stomach and he did think it was a rather romantic thing to do, not that he’d say that out loud. He laughed softly, “Definitely no for me” he said, not when he was in love with his oblivious roommate. Yukito was rather a hopeless case.

“Yeah. I haven’t seen much beside campus either.” He frowned at that. They were finally overseas and both of them really hadn’t done anything but study. “We’ve got spring break coming up...Maybe we could go somewhere then? Just us?” He really didn’t know why he felt so damn nervous all the sudden adding that. It was just Yuki.

Yukito smiled and nodded, “I would very much like that” he said, trying his hardest not to blush at the thought. “We could go exploring and see where we find that we like the look of” he suggested, very much liking the idea of going away just the two of them.

“Mhm.” Touya agreed as he put a stack of four pancakes on the plate for Yuki, but only two for himself. He really didn’t eat that much in general. He was rarely hungry-but Yuki was constantly. It was a little odd, but Touya always knew there was something different about his best friend. He didn’t mind it. He liked being around him for who he was. He was one of the few people Touya didn’t have to work up the nerve to talk to. At school he’d gotten the reputation of unapproachable, but in reality he was just a little more shy than most people noticed when it came to talking to people. He wanted to tell Yuki something else, he really did-but words escaped him. Instead he pushed a bit of pancakes into his mouth to avoid saying anything stupid instead.

Yukito was always hungry, yet he never gained weight which was odd, he wasn’t overly active though he had always played sports - mostly because Touya did. Ever since Touya had saved him from bullies he’d followed him around, he couldn’t really name the point when he’d realised he was in love with him, it felt like he always had been. He felt he knew Touya better than anybody, even Sakura sometimes, he knew Touya was shy and quiet but deeply intelligent and intuitive. “Mmm these are great Touya” he said as he dug into his own plate of food.

Touya hadn’t intended on taking Yuki along with his weird life. It was just a thing that happened. Yuki didn’t judge him for his silence, or try to force him to talk when he was clearly uncomfortable in whatever situation arose. He was just there, playing the support role that had locked him in as best friend. Only recently had Touya realized how much more he wanted from Yuki. There were very few people in his life that Touya could claim he actually wanted to be around for extended periods of time, Yuki was the only one on top of that list really. “I’m pretty much a master at making pancake mix.” He gave him a small grin as he joined him at the stools in front of the small island at the bar. He only picked at his pancakes trying to figure out what words to use to tell Yuki exactly how he felt.

Yukito didn’t mind at all, Touya’s life was wonderful as far as he was concerned and he was happy to be in it. He’d gained a second family in Touya’s father and sister and he would always cherish that. Yukito had no idea Touya had even considered the idea of Yukito as more than a friend so it would probably be a shock when Touya said something, if he did. “You are” Yukito said with a return grin before watching him in concern, “Are you sure you are feeling okay?” he asked raising a hand to lay it on Touya’s forehead to check his temperature.

“I’m fine.” He muttered, he wasn’t hot at all to the touch. Obviously not ill by that standard, but by illness standards he was. He wasn’t hot in the least as far as fevers went, he just had issues with words. If that was an illness then he was pretty bad off. “I just...I have something to tell you but don’t say anything until I’m done-or I might not get through it.” It wasn’t that it wasn’t true what he was going to say, but Touya was the opposite of any kind of emotional person.

Yukito nodded, “Of course Touya, you can tell me anything. I’ll be quiet” he promised, putting down his fork so he could focus on his best friend. He thought Touya might be about to tell him about his job and he wanted to give his full support.
Yuki without food. The idea was wrong in his head, but he also understood it was his way of paying attention-so Touya tried to fight the urge to run. It was damn difficult though. Every instinct he had was telling him to flee. “You stayed with me for all these years. Most everyone else has left. I mean so did we but after high school they didn’t feel obligated to talk to me anymore, but you stayed…” He fidgeted with the corner of one of his long sleeves a little nervously. “It might be entirely out of line but I can’t imagine you not being here. I..” It took every ounce of determination now not to just change the subject or stick another pancake infront of Yuki and tell him something else.. “I love you.” The word felt prickly on his tongue, it was usually a word reserved for his father or sometimes Sakura-when she wasn’t around to hear it. Touya wasn’t one to throw that word around frivolously though. He stopped talking after it, as if bracing for Yuki to turn him down or tell him he was being ridiculous and really needed to get his head checked

He wanted to speak a couple of times to tell Touya that he would always stay with him, he would always want to be there. There was nothing out of line with wanting that, but he stayed quiet as Touya had requested until he said those three little words and Yukito suddenly felt lightheaded and he wondered if he was dreaming. He’d imagined this scene a hundred times but he still wasn’t prepared for it. Reaching out he lay a hand over Touya’s, “I love you too Touya, I always have and I always will” he said once he could speak, a bright smile on his face before he leaned in to hug him.

Touya wondered for how long he had, but didn’t want to ask. Some things just didn’t need words, and this seemed to be one of them. Yuki’s hugs were one of the few that didn’t make him tense or miserable or worry. He’d never really known what love was until recently, he thought maybe he had an idea of it now. His eyes closed for a moment as he just remained still in his embrace for a moment. Anyone else might have been a dead man in that position, but with Yuki he was almost content enough to relax a little.
