"Long night?" Grant didn't normally talk to people on the street, certainly not random teenage ones that it would look odd for a guy in his thirties to address, but there was a certain empathy in him at the moment that had prompted the inquiry. Since he'd dreamed last, it had been particularly difficult to feel comfortable enough to fall into more than just the lightest doze. "Don't feel too bad. I've almost done the same thing a couple times myself. The sun is just far too soothing to not have that effect."
Sitting a couple tables over, catty-corner to where Gwen was seated but close enough to not make it horribly awkward given the way the tables were packed along the sidewalk, Grant offered her a sympathetic smile.
"My name's Grant, by the way. And I promise I'm not a creep."
Because it's not like that was the sort of thing a creep would say or anything.
