Sarah had noticed Felix’s absences even if he had tried to cover them well and she wondered if something serious was looming for him or if he was simply having fun. Usually he confided in her but this time he seemed to have decided not to and, well, Sarah couldn’t have that.
Kira had gone to a sleepover at a friends house, after weeks of asking. One down side of the dreams was Sarah became a little more paranoid about her daughter but she’d finally given in. So now she was sat in the kitchen with coffee waiting for her dirty stop out of a brother.
Ever since Felix found out that Josh hadn’t been sleeping well as a result of his dreams, he’d spent a few nights with the younger man to make sure that he got some sleep or if he woke up in the middle of the night from a dream at least he wasn’t alone. Felix had yet to tell Sarah or anyone about Josh, partly because he didn’t want to jinx this. Felix hadn’t been in a relationship in some time and while he wasn’t sure exactly what sort of relationship they were in, he did know that they both liked each other a lot, but just in case, he didn’t want to make a big deal of it with Sarah.
He’d left Josh’s early that morning after making sure he’d be alright and promised to call or text him later then had headed home. Considering it was still fairly early, he hadn’t expected Sarah to be up yet and couldn’t help but jump slightly, his hand flying to his heart as he slipped inside the kitchen door to see Sarah sitting there at the table, “Fuck! You scared the shite out of me!” He exclaimed, closing the door behind him.
“Guilty conscience Fe?” Sarah asked with a bit of a smirk, as she watched her brother enter the room. “So come on you dirty stop out, who is he? How serious is it? Why haven’t you told me about him?” she poured Felix a cup of tea and pushed it across the counter to him. He should sit and talk because she wasn’t giving in.
“Of course not.” Felix removed his jacket and hung it over the back of one of the chairs before sitting down and picked up the cup of tea, “And name calling isn’t very nice, you know.” Felix took a sip from the cup before setting it down, “And what makes you think I’m seeing someone? I could have simply gone out early.” He knew that Sarah wouldn’t believe him and it wasn’t that he didn’t want to tell her about Josh, but he couldn’t let her give him and hard time and not give it back.
Sarah snorted, “What for the morning air? Pull the other one” Oh she knew he’d give her a hard time, she’d be worried if he didn’t. It was how they worked, the teasing sibling relationship they had was something which had come naturally since they first met. And it was a nice constant. “So come on spill? What’s going on? You must be bumping pelvises with someone right?”
Felix could have said he’d gone out for a walk, but with the boots he was currently wearing there was no way Sarah was actually going to believe that. Instead, he sighed dramatically and rolled his eyes till they rested on his sister again, “Alright, you’ve got me. But we weren’t bumping anything; at least not last night.” Josh’s dreams were really doing a number on his sanity and Felix just wanted to make sure he got some sleep at the moment and it seemed as though that was easier for him when Felix was there.
Of course Sarah wouldn’t have believed he was walking so it was for the best he was honest. “But you have been? Is it serious Fe? Is that why I’ve not heard about him before?” she kind of hoped it was as Felix was an incredible catch and not just because he was her brother.
“I think you’re more interested in my sex life than anyone else.” Felix said, taking a sip of his tea, mostly so that he had something to do, “But yes, we have shagged. And no, I don’t think it’s serious.” To be honest, Felix wasn’t entirely sure what he and Josh had. It was more than just friends with benefits; he’d had that sort of arrangement with men before and this was different than that. Felix cared about Josh and about his well-being and he liked him a lot, but he didn’t want to jinx anything.
“Of course I am” Sarah said, she’d never been ashamed of it. She liked to know who Felix was with, how else was she supposed to protect him. Sarah pouted at that, “I’m glad you’re getting some but is there a chance it could become something more? I want to see you get a happy ending Fe”
“If only you knew how much willpower I’m using right now to resist making a comment about a happy ending,” Felix smirked cheekily and leaned back in his chair, “I don’t know. I mean, I like him and I’m pretty sure he likes me too, but his dreams are really doing a number on him right now and I don’t think he’s looking for anything official.” Of course he’d never know if he didn’t ask Josh, but he also didn’t want to hear that confirmed.
“An extended one” Sarah told him with a roll of her eyes and a smirk. “You’re helping him deal with his dreams? That sounds more than a friends with benefits arrangement to me” And Sarah should know since her thing with John started as that too and evolved into an actual relationship.
“Maybe it is. I just don’t want to pressure him right now,” Felix ran a hand through his hair, which was still messy from sleeping, “Then there’s the fact that he’s a little younger.” Felix never had a problem with younger guys before, so long as they were of legal age for whichever country he’d been in at the time, but those were mostly hookups, not actual relationships.
“How much younger?” she asked curiously, watching him closely. It was obvious he’d been thinking about things more than he was letting on. She’d never seen him really falling for somebody before, neither of them had been the falling sort.
Felix watched Sarah for a moment before he spoke again, “He’s not twenty one just yet.” When they’d first gone out on New Year’s Eve, Felix had had a feeling that Josh’s ID wasn’t quite legit, but Felix knew people at most of the clubs they had gone to, so no one had really asked or looked too closely at Josh’s fake ID.
“That’s not so bad, I mean at least he’s legal right? Well not to drink but still for the important stuff” she said, because that would have been really bad news otherwise. “It’ll be okay Fe, everything will work out I bet you” she said reaching over to squeeze his hand.
Felix had been expecting a little more of a reaction from Sarah, but instead she was as supportive as she’d always been when she wanted something to work out for Felix, “Thanks, Sarah. I’m just going to take it one day at a time and see what happens.”
It’s not like Sarah was in any position to judge and really as long as Fe was happy that was her main concern. “That sounds like a good plan. You’re growing up, I’m so proud” she winked returning to teasing him.
Felix rolled his eyes and laughed, “Just don’t say anything to Mrs. S yet. She’ll likely call me and want all the details.” Picking up his cup, he finished off the tea before getting to his feet, “I’m gonna go grab a shower.”
“My lips are sealed I promise” she said with a smile, “Alright, I’ll make some breakfast” she stood to give him a quick hug before moving to get the things she’d need from the fridge.
