Scott grinned as he stopped the car, and hopped out, headed to meet Allison. He felt energized, bouncy, and ready to have a great evening. The ‘first date’ they had enjoyed had been awesome, and he felt like he had known her forever. He could get used to really being around her.
He was already planning to invite her over to feed her dinner one night when his mom was gone, and maybe, well, maybe invite her over to meet his mom, sometime. If she wanted to, that was. The idea made his forehead break out into a light sweat, and he shook his head, using a handkerchief to wipe it away. He knew he was serious about her, he just was hoping she was about him, too. He had never had anything feel like this. Not even the dream relationship!
He blushed as he thought about that. Last’s night’s dream had been… very forward. He remembered every detail of everything they had done in bed, and he had woken aroused as hell and not been able to go back to sleep for hours!
He paused as he saw her, forcing the NC-17-rated thoughts away and grinned at her as he stepped toward her.
Allison had been looking forward to this Valentine’s day. It was a nice change. Usually she felt a sort of indifference towards the holiday. Every other year it was spent watching Love, Actually on her laptop with candy by her side that she’d bought for herself. Sometimes she even Skyped her mom to listen to a lecture about how the holiday was invented by greeting card companies to prey on weak minded women. Her mother was always good for that sort of thing. This year, though, Allison was proud to count herself among the saps who would be celebrating and it was mostly because she would be celebrating with Scott McCall.
She hurried out of the spinning class she’d been teaching and rushed through getting ready for the date. Oh, she paid close attention to every detail, of course. Allison didn’t want to miss something big like forgetting to wash her hair. Once she was finished she looked in the mirror, reasonably satisfied with her appearance. She smiled at herself, her version of a thumbs-up, and walked out to the main area of the gym with her bag slung over her shoulder. There was Scott, waiting for her.
“Hey! Happy Valentine’s day!” Her smile brightened at the sight of him. “You ready?”
“Happy Valen--wow.” Seeing her, it took a few minutes for Scott’s brain to re-engage. “Yes, I am, and wow, and yes, come right this way, milady!” He winked at her and led the way outward, toward the car. Wow, she was… it was not fair for her to look that hot!
He was blushing bright red and if his hand caught one of hers, well, why not?
She couldn’t help an almost bashful smile. He brought it out in her. Somehow he always made her feel beautiful. Even after spending hours at the gym, working and sweating like crazy, he looked at her like she’d spent hours primping. It was a nice feeling.
As they walked out of the gym, her hand found his and their fingers linked together. It felt natural. She turned her head to smile at him before letting go of his hand to walk to the passenger side of the car.
“This is my first Valentine’s day in a long time actually celebrating with another person.” Allison admitted. Immediately she wanted to take it back, afraid that she sounded like some kind of nerd.
“This is, well, my first.” He flushed a bright red. “So, ah, if I do something dumb, let me know, okay?” He had never been a people person, but a loner, and even now, he prefered animals to people. It was different in the dreams, and with Allison, too. Somehow.
He started the car and sent them zooming along.
“I’m sure you won’t do anything dumb.” Allison smiled, trying to reassure him. She wasn’t so confident about herself. Even more than during their pizza outing, Allison was afraid she’d say or do something to screw things up. The only thing that kept her calm was knowing that Scott probably wouldn’t care. He was such a nice guy that he would probably forgive any dating faux pas.
“I’m just… It’s nice to be getting out again with you. Last time was really nice and I’m looking forward to tonight, too.” She smiled over at him.
“Me too. And… I’ve been dreaming, again. I wanted you to know, so you knew.” He was blushing so red he felt like he had a fever. “I, ah, seem to be remembering more and more of these dream selves of ours, who seem very… enthusiastic.”
La la la, avoid mentioning how enthusiastic, yes…
He turned the corner on the street, grinning as he saw the theater ahead.
Enthusiastic was an understatement. Sometimes it felt like Allison was dreaming about Romeo and Juliet when she dreamed about herself and Scott. It was amazing. She smiled, understanding exactly what Scott meant. “Yes, very enthusiastic.” She laughed a little.
“Oh, we’re here already.” A smile fixed onto her face. She was glad the drive went quickly. All she’d had to eat all day was a protein shake she’d fixed for herself that morning. A day at the gym always built up a hunger for Allison. Right then she really could have gone for a bucket of popcorn. She’d share with Scott, of course. Sharing popcorn seemed like a nice, couple-y activity.
“Some of the dreams have started to get very… intense that were about… the other us.” Scott blushed and grinned at her. At least she didn’t seem awkward or resentful toward him. “The others were intense too. Werewolves and bad guys, and misdirection and… I feel like the dreams are building toward something, you know?”
He slipped out, and hopped to her side to let her out, since the door stuck, sometimes. Then he offered her his arm. “Shall we? They have awesome soda and popcorn here.”
“Yeah,” She agreed, blushing furiously. Intense was definitely one word for it. It was funny to her that she, a grown woman, could be reduced to a blushing mess just by talking about dreams, but then again these were no ordinary dreams. “We’re… Well, we’re crazy about each other, I think. And as for the other dreams, those are pretty crazy, too.”
“Extra butter?” Allison’s smile looked a little mischievous. Usually she ate with her health in mind, meaning less salt and butter than the average person, but like everyone else on the planet she had her vices. It just happened that movie theater popcorn butter was one of them. This was her cheating on her diet.
“Yeah. I mean, it’s wild, how quick they got so attached. Though--” His eyes cut to her, then toward the theater. “i can understand why. In both worlds, you’re pretty darn awesome.” And gorgeous, he didn’t say. Yet. But blushed more. God, he had never blushed this much before.
“Absolutely extra butter on an extra large popcorn.” Scott grinned, nodding. He used to order the same when he went with his mom, but he didn’t want to think about that now.
“You’re amazing, yourself.” She said with a big smile. He was. Scott was a combination of sweet and wonderful that didn’t come around very often. He was a rarity and Allison counted herself lucky to have found him. “In the dreams and in real life, but mostly in real life. I like the real you best.”
“Yesss.” Allison laughed. There was no way she could have taken on a mountain of popcorn on her own. It was a good thing she had Scott with her. Hopefully he brought his appetite with him.
Scott flushed and smiled back at her. “Likewise you, too.” He bounced as he stepped up to hold the door for her, then walked into line with her. He slipped out his movie rewards card almost sheepishly. Even more so when the cashier greeted him by name, and was visibly pleased to see him. And more so to see him not alone, which was mentioned at least once.
As they walked toward the food court, he was still shaking his head. “I think I must come here too much.”
“Hey, who doesn’t love movies?” Allison laughed, downplaying him coming to the movies a lot just in case it embarrassed him for some reason. She didn’t want him to be embarrassed even if he did look really cute when he blushed. Really, really cute.
They approached the register at the food court and Allison took in a deep breath. “Mmm. I love food smells, especially popcorn.” She laughed a little bit. “I might be a little hungry, too.”
Scott grinned at her. “Nothing wrong with that. A large popcorn it is!” He ordered that, and drinks, and then led the way toward the theater. “I’m glad we’re doing this.” He liked that they could get together like this.
Settling into a chair in the theater, he turned to look at her and was reminded of just how close to one another they were. “Thank you for coming out with me today.”
He felt like, looking at her now, he could just… kiss her.
Alison turned her head to look at him and smiled. “You don’t have to thank me. I really appreciated the invitation. I like going places with you. I… like you.” A nervous laugh escaped her lips and she shook her head, wondering how he could make her so bashful. She was usually so confident and put together. Allison took in a deep breath and tried her best to compose herself once again, offering a more poised and pulled together smile.
“I like you, a lot, too. More than i should, maybe, this soon, but I don’t care.” And that decided, he let go, and kissed her, putting into that kiss, for one moment, how much he liked her, and how much he was enjoying being around her. Then slowly pulling back.
“I like-like you.” He winked at her, eyes dancing, but a serious look there, beneath it all.
It was almost like the kiss happened in slow motion for Allison and it felt very much like a moment from a movie. It was that perfect. When he pulled back she found herself wanting more. Her lips curled into a big smile.
“I like-like you, too.” She grinned. “And I like kissing you.” Now it was her turn. Allison leaned in and gave him a kiss, slow but fiery, and pulled back before anyone really had a chance to start staring at their PDA.
Scott smiled at her and then kissed her back as they kissed and he shivered. “We should go get ice cream and investigate how it feels to kiss with ice cream on the lips.” He found himself smirking just a little, feeling like he could walk on air. “And maybe discuss some more of the dreams and what we do in them?”
He flushed more.
“Cold, sweet kisses?” She raised her eyebrows slightly. “I’m game.” Allison smiled. It sounded like fun and she did say that she was hungry, after all. “And the dreams do get interesting, don’t they?” It was an understatement. The dreams got very interesting in more than one way. There were the supernatural aspects, of course, but there were also all of Scott and Allison’s late night rendezvous. Those were also very interesting. It was no wonder Scott was a little flushed.
“Awesome!” Scott led the way back out to the car, sure now, that this was going to be an interesting night.
Allison follows, linking her hand in with his until they had to part ways to go to the opposite sides of the car. She was more than a little excited. They had the whole night ahead of them. Kissing and ice cream was an interesting prospect, but even more so was talking about their dreams. She wanted to compare notes and see what the dreams were like from another point of view. Hopefully they’d only talk about the nice parts. Allison wasn’t in the mood to talk about danger and loss tonight.
