Some people just didn't like talking about their losses and it wouldn't be right for her to push about it. Besides - it had confirmed her suspicion. Hearing your dead relatives? She'd been climbing into the car when she heard his question, pausing and looking over at him and then the area around him. "I don't see anybody Nasir." She almost jumped when she heard her father's voice in her ear I thought you knew better than to get in a car with a boy you don't know. She closed her eyes, counting to five before opening them.
"There's nobody behind me right? How about this for a plan - we get in the car, close the doors and crank the radio so that we can't hear whatever the hell this is?" She said, her voice sounding tense as she tried to ignore the voice whispering in her ear. Hearing her foster mother and sister had been one thing. Her father's voice - was something else. She wanted him to be proud of her and the voice in her just sounded so disappointed.
