Who: Andromeda Tonks and Sirius Black What: Sirius finds himself with a free afternoon and uses it to go see his cousin. When: Saturday afternoon. Where: Andromeda's house. Rating: Probably G. (Sirius behaves himself around his cousin. Mostly.) Status: Complete.
The fact that Sirius worked every other Saturday made him appreciate the free days all the more. He didn't mind his job, but he did mind the customers coming through, talking about plans for the beach or Disneyland or trips to see movies. They had twenty-four glorious hours of freedom that they could share with other nine-to-fivers, while Sirius was stuck in coveralls doing oil changes. He tried not to glower as they handed over the keys, but some days it was hard.
Every other weekend, however, he was one of those lucky souls. He could go to the gas station, pick up a cheap coffee, and quietly pity the guy behind the counter. From there, the day was wide open.
Sirius spent more spare Saturdays than he'd care to admit at his cousin Andromeda's. In the evening he'd catch a show or hit up a bar, but the afternoons were devoted to family time. He didn't have much of one any longer, and he fully intended to appreciate the kin who still liked him. Sirius didn't always remember to call - he could be thoughtless, especially when he was in the I'm free, giddy state of mind - but on this particular Saturday, he did remember to pull out his cell and dial the number.
He'd said he'd be by around two. It was now 2:20, because Sirius had stopped on the way to pick up a lottery ticket (fifty-three million, not bad) and fill up his bike. Hey. Two-twenty was almost two, wasn't it? Twoish. Eh. He'd purchased a second lottery ticket for his cousin. Maybe that would make up for his being late.
