Warnings: Talk of kidnapping
Status: Log | Complete
Ezra needed more coffee than usual. His dreams seemed to be getting more twisted. Aria and the rest of her friends had been arrested only on their way to the prison the van was hijacked and the girls went missing. Of course the police thought the girls had escaped but Ezra knew better. A had taken them and he was determined to find them along with the rest of the boyfriends. It was torture not knowing where they were.
After purchasing a cup of coffee he was about to head to his office when he spotted Hanna Marin. Only she looked horrible. Put together as usual, but bruised. Something had clearly happened. Of course Ezra was concerned, especially after his dreams. He made his way over to her. “Hanna? Are you okay?”
While her parents (because apparently Tom suddenly was taking an interest in her life) had said they could find a way to let her stay home a bit longer, Hanna had been very adamant about just getting back to her normal life. She wasn’t going to hide in the house because of what had happened. Like hell was she going to let those jerks keep a hold on her. She had no idea what was going to happen with Austin and Joe. But Darren was dead and she kept seeing his body and it was unnerving.
She needed to get out, really. So school it was. She made sure to be kept together, and makeup to cover the bruises but she didn’t always manage to do that. Sometimes things got through. Some bruises weren’t as easy to hide and bled through the attempts to hide them. It was frustrating but she would tend to brush it off and no one had really asked.
Until Mister Fitz came over to her. She’d been sitting on one of the benches in the hallway with coffee in hand, waiting for her next class to start when he had spotted her and come over.
“Oh sure, you know. Got kidnapped by some creeps, sassed the wannabe Wilden. Just fine.”
More than she usually would open up about, but even if she wasn’t his biggest fan, Hanna wasn’t about to shut Mister Fitz down. Then again at present he was just a creepy teacher with a thing for her best friend in the dreams, something she had supported in them, which weird. But he had always at least seemed concerned for the girls in his own way.
What did Hanna just say? Kidnapped? It was as if his dream had come to life. He had a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach. Now the post Aria had made the previous week made sense.
But Wilden? Was he here too? Ezra’s face fell, his brow furrowed in concern. “Wilden’s here?” That guy was probably the worst cop in all of Rosewood and that was saying a lot. Ezra honestly wasn’t too put out that the guy was dead now. “He kidnapped you?”
“Not Wilden. Just a wannabe version of him. Same name, looked annoyingly like him.” It had definitely not been a happy experience for Hanna and of course she had focused most of her anger at him. One because he had clearly been the brains behind the situation. But just her residual Wilden issues and he seemed to fit the bill in terms of name and look.
“But yeah. Got kidnapped. It sucked. Now I’m back and just… want to get on with my life.” Easier said than done when dealing with the dreams and Orange County, but it wasn’t like she had much else to do unless she was sitting under what was basically house arrest. No thank you.
Well that was somewhat reassuring. The fact that Wilden wasn’t here. Not that Hanna had been kidnapped. That was scary as hell. Even if it was all over now. He had to admit he was a little surprised she was back at school already, but if she was anything like her dreamself it made a little more sense. She had always seemed strong to him.
“Since when do we live in Rosewood?” he commented his mind still half on his current dreams. “Have you seen Aria? I know she was worried.” It was weird how he felt connected to all of them, but mostly Aria. Hs dreams did practically center around her though. “What even happened? Who just gets kidnapped?” Like he had already mentioned this wasn’t Rosewood.
“Don’t jinx us.” Hanna had seen plenty of people’s dreams cross over into this world. The last thing they needed was for some twisted version of Rosewood to happen. To get new threats and blackmail that had nothing to do with the dreams, that didn’t just show up as a twisted reminder.
“Yeah… I saw her over the weekend.” And fairly often since. She was basically hovering like her parents, just not as in her face. She appreciated it and hated that she had put her best friend through that, but god Hanna needed to be able to breathe as well. Which was one of the reasons she was in class already. It gave her an excuse to not be in the house and at least some sense of control back over her life.
“Some jerks trying to make a point and use me as leverage. All very cliched if you ask me.”
Hanna did make a good point. The last thing they needed was for A to show up or something. Even with the second hand information he got from the dreams he knew that would just be bad.
“I’m sure she’s relieved that you’re all right,” honestly when Aria had posted about it he just assumed Hanna ran off with her boyfriend or something. The sense of doom from their dreams didn’t exactly bleed over for him. It probably helped that he wasn’t receiving dream texts from A. “For the record I am too.” Of course he had more questions. But he didn’t have the type of relationship with Hanna where he could really ask. In either world.
If only it were so simple. But no. It was far from simple or some Romeo and Juliet running away thing. Then again, Hanna would have told Aria as such and never have sent an SOS. “Yeah, she is.”
There wasn’t that much to say. She didn’t really interact much with Mister Fitz in the dreams and he wasn’t her professor anymore. But she did smile faintly at the comment on him being relieved as well.
“Thanks.” Then she noticed the clock overhead. “I have class now. See you around, Mister Fitz.” With that, she stood up and headed to her class. Just one day at a time and not letting this defeat her.
