Bo wasn't the type to just sit around, especially when there was danger lurking in the fog. At least her dreams had gifted her with the dagger she used in them, so she wasn't unarmed. It was at least something to fight with. This being alone thing was taking its toll on her. Yes she had ran across Lara earlier, but they'd gotten separated again. And worse yet, Kenzi was out there somewhere sick and needed her help. Bo had dreamt about the foot soup, and she knew what she needed to save Kenzi's life.
Of course, what were the chances there was a basilisk in Orange County? She didn't know, but she was starting to seriously hope something would go her way.
"Seriously, can't anything be easy around here?" She grumbled as she walked along. The dagger was in its sheath strapped to her thigh. The fog needed to go away so she could get to Kenzi, to let Killian know she knew what could cure Kenzi. As it was, she couldn't contact Killian despite having tried multiple times to. So she'd settled on the idea that she needed to fight her way out of the fog. How that was a good idea, she didn't know, but it was at least doing something. Sitting around waiting wasn't her style.
Pausing, Bo thought she heard something and glanced around. However, she didn't see anything. "Great, now I'm getting paranoid. Remind me to never go to London." Of course, London's fog most likely didn't have creepy monster lurking in it, but Bo had a feeling she'd forever be uneasy when fog was around.
And that's when the noise from her phone signaled a monster was near. Having picked up on that pattern, she quickly drew her dagger and slowly turned around, carefully searching the area. And then she saw it slowly come into focus as it came towards her. Bo pulled her dagger from its sheath, ready to fight. At least until she realized it was a more monstrous form of herself.
"Oh, shit," she cursed, eyes widening a bit in fear.
You have the devil inside you, Beth!
You're a slut. A whore!
You're not my daughter, you never were!
Bo shook her head, trying to shake the echo of her mother's voice in her head as she saw the monster coming at her. But the echoes only grew louder.
The monster had horns that swept back over its head and blood dripping from its mouth. It had dark skin and looked like one might expect a demon to look like. But the face was still recognizable as being herself.
"No," she said, fear creeping into her voice as she took a step back. But the monster rushed at her and lashed out, claws seeking to meet flesh, but Bo managed to jump back and out of the way of the strike.
You are the devil's daughter!
The monster lashed out again, and Bo only barely managed to dodge it. She swung her dagger, but the monster blocked it and dug its claws deep into her stomach. She cried out, managing to pull herself away. She collapsed to the ground, free hand pressed over the badly bleeding wound on her stomach. The monster loomed over her, and she started to try and crawl away. It was too much for her. Her fight or flight instinct kicked in, and in this instance, it was flight. She kicked the monster, driving the heel of her boot into its knee. It gave Bo enough time to crawl away and force herself to her feet.
Dagger in one hand, the other pressed against her stomach, she moved away as quickly as she could. She was losing blood fast. Bo didn't know if she'd make it to her apartment, and part of her didn't even care if she would.
Lara deserves someone better.
Kenzi won't miss you.
You're just a little lost girl with no family and no friends.
Your soul is damned to Hell.
Somehow all the voices echoing in her head were her mother's. It was only fitting since her mother had been the loudest voice at her "intervention" before she'd ran away. And here she was running away from things again. She was running from herself, refusing to accept that she was a succubus in her dreams. Maybe it would be easier if she just laid down and let herself bleed out here on the street. It meant that she wouldn't have to go through getting her powers, and potentially hurting Lara with them.
Bo was already starting to feel light headed from blood loss. And she had no idea where in the fog she was anymore. Nothing looked like it should. She stumbled and fell to her knees, dagger clattering just out of her reach. Tears started running down her cheeks. For a moment, she did completely give up, complacent to simply die right then and there. But then something else ran through her.
Who would save Kenzi if she didn't survive? Who would be there for Lara? Bo had seen the mode Lara had been in, and it wasn't a good one. Someone needed to help her when all of this was over. And she cared about both Kenzi and Lara, she couldn't just leave them like this. This was the part of her that wouldn't let that deathwish take hold of her. She may have ran away from her fear, but she'd be damned if she just let herself die here. Grunting, Bo grabbed her dagger and forced herself back up to her feet. She could feel she didn't have much time. Not that she really knew how to stop the bleeding, but if she could find her apartment, maybe she could staunch the bleeding somehow. She needed a hospital, but being unable to call for help, she needed to help herself.
"Come on, Bo," she said to herself, trying to silence the echoes in her head as she stumbled her way on. That's when she spotted her apartment. "Just hang on. Kenzi and Lara won't forgive you if you just give up." It was a close call, but Bo managed to get into her apartment before she collapsed on the floor and blacked out.
She wasn't dead. And her wound began to heal now that she was in her own home.
