Akane really wasn't a fan of the fog, it was like she was living in a horror movie and well, she really didn't like horror movies or haunter houses or anything like that. Especially when it seemed like she was the only one who seemed aware of the hands that randomly came out of the walls. Not even Ranma seemed to notice them from what Akane could tell. Just fog. Lots and lots of fog. Even so, classes were cancelled, it wasn't like there was any leaving that was going on. If they had to get groceries because someone (Genma) well, it was in pairs. So far though, that hadn't been necessary. It was just a precaution Soun had insisted upon. No need to get hit by a car or whatever because no one could see in front of them.
The air in the house was oppressive though. It was making her feel sick. Add in more grabbing hands and Akane decided that she was going to just go outside, get some air. Nothing like going into the street or try to go to the store, just getting some fresh air. Well, in theory. It was hard to know what would happen if she went outside but Akane just couldn't stay inside anymore. It was pressing in on her and the more she tried to stay inside, the sicker she felt. Going into the garden would be fine. Except that once she was in the garden, she seemed to be in a really warped version of the garden and so she turned to head back inside only she didn't end up at the door like she was planning.
"What..." Because really now. She wasn't that far from the door. Was she? Well.. might as well try to get back to the house even if everything just seemed off. Akane was not a fan and her senses were on high alert, any strange noises, shadows, whatever.
Like the static coming from her phone.
Head whipping around, her eyes narrowed as she noticed something coming towards her. On instinct, she got into fighting position, focused. It was... familiar. Wrong, but familiar. Like she could place the body language only slightly as her mind was sort of going in different directions on who or what it could be. But it was definitely familiar.
Then it felt as though she had been struck with a razor across her cheek and a strange laugh that didn't sound as shrill, instead garbled. Reaching up, Akane noticed blood on her finger tips and her eyes narrowed as the mass moved towards her again, this time though she jumped back.
Never good enough
You're not strong enough to take over the school
You can't cook
Kawaiikune
Alone. Alone. Alone.
Airen
Ran-chan
The voices or maybe imprints of voices was more accurate... either way, they were swirling around her and getting louder the closer the thing came towards her. The closer it got, the more familiar it moved. Shampoo. Ukyo. Kodachi. A feeling of being left behind, all her insecurities seemed to be piling up as it got closer. But that was enough to make her eyes burn. Akane never backed down from a fight, it was a point of contention between her and Ranma as he felt she would just get in the way and to let him just handle it and Akane refused to do nothing. She pushed herself to match him. She pushed herself in case the other fiancees ever showed up and challenged her. She didn't think much on the why of it, she just did. So this thing coming towards her? She wasn't going to let it beat her.
Stubbornly determined, that was one way to describe her. Which was why through the fog, she waited until she felt she could get a punch in. Only to be knocked to the side by.... what felt to be Ukyo's spatula even though that thing was not the Okonomiyaki chef. Gasping as she hit a tree, Akane just pushed herself up, dodging make shift bon bori attacks. Was she seriously going up against all three of Ranma's fiancees (well, Kodachi was more suitor and obsessed like her brother) in some very demented way?
No. It didn't matter. Even if the slight fear of them (and the more real fear of what they represented) bled over, Akane wouldn't let them beat her. Each time she landed a punch, another insult seemed to fill her mind, another way to chip down at her. Each time it did, it seemed that the attacks from the monster landed harder.
This would not be her legacy. This would not be what she was known as. The weak one. The uncute one. The one who just gave up and let others defeat her.
Spitting some blood out, Akane rolled her arm and winced. No matter. Struggling to catch her breath, she dodged another attack even as she found herself getting back up into a tree. As much as she didn't like admitting it, Shampoo, Ukyo and Kodachi all were stronger than her, growing up in a warrior culture, surviving on your own or just...being a cheat and crazy would do that. But that didn't mean she was any less valid than them. It didn't mean that....
Finding herself seeming wrapped by a ribbon and a spatula cutting into her throat at the hand of the monster, Akane knew that Ranma wasn't coming even as that taunt filled her head. But if he hadn't noticed the hands coming out of the walls, why would he.... no. It had nothing to do with the taunts and insecurity. She'd gotten lost in the fog and everything was wrong. So instead she used the warped tree to her advantage, pressing her weight against it to support herself and then kicked the monster back and dropped with a grunt of pain. Twisted ankle. Not enough to stop her.
Racing forward, she grabbed the bon bori spatula and threw it at the monster, only to be covered in slime.... ugh. Gross. But the static seemed to have stopped and Akane was suddenly outside the house.
How....
Right. That didn't matter. Limping to the fence, Akane jumped it and landed in the backyard before heading inside. And suddenly the injuries she had sustained seemed to vanish. Okay then. Not going to ask, but one less thing to have to try and explain because Akane had no idea how she would have explained what had just happened.
