Things with Hanna were better than ever. The getting shot thing, yeah it had thrown them both and he knew it had scared his girlfriend. But Caleb was fine and that was all behind them now. He had even recovered in the dreams too. But seriously how many people were after Hanna and her friends? It wasn’t even A that had shot him but some random dude that had stalked and killed Emily’s ex girlfriend. Twisted.
Tonight though he didn’t want to think about that. Or the dreams in general. He just wanted to take his girlfriend out. That was the plan anyway. It wasn’t going to be anything special just dinner and a movie then back to his place most likely. But that was before. Earlier in the day his laptop had been hacked into. Luckily Caleb was on his laptop at the time (but then when wasn’t he on it?) and had been able to kick the intruder out of his system.
He spent the rest of the afternoon trying to figure out who it was and setting up even stronger firewalls. He had also texted Hanna and asked if she minded just coming over to his place instead of going out. He didn’t want to cancel on her, of course he wanted to see her, but he just had a bad feeling in his gut. A feeling that his past was catching up with him. Staying in seemed like the safest option for the night.
When Caleb had decided that he wanted to stay in instead of go out, Hanna had been fine with it. It wasn’t like it was some major thing they’d been planning. What she was looking forward to was simply spending time with her boyfriend and not having to worry about school for the next few hours. New quarter meant new teachers and new assignments and she while she had adjusted, she did appreciate the breaks she got.
The day had gone by smoothly. Go to class, hang out with friends, go to her internship then home for a bit before heading to Caleb’s. Despite the anxiety from her dreams and constant paranoia that they brought of being watched at all times, Caleb was fine in them and things were going great here. So why should she be worried?
Arriving to her destination, Hanna knocked, interested to see what the plan was now. Probably just watch a movie and cuddle plus food, which really was fine by her. But there were plenty of movies to watch so there was still some mystery there.
When he heard the knock Caleb made his way over to the door to let Hanna in, greeting her with a kiss. He had been considering giving her a key. There was no reason she shouldn’t have one with how much time they spent at his place and he trusted her. But it seemed like a big step and he didn’t want to freak her out again. The whole saying I love you first and then waiting weeks for her to say it back had been torture. Besides the key thought was pushed to the back of his mind with the events of the day.
“Hey,” he said in between kisses, pulling her into the apartment and pushing the door shut behind her. “How was your day?” He didn’t have anything too special planned but he was making spaghetti. It was kind of a thing thanks to their first date. And then maybe Hanna would let him pick a movie to put on, since he had watched almost all the Disney movies now.
A key really would make sense at this point. But she wasn’t going to push it. It had taken her long enough to stop freaking out about her own feelings to realise them and say them back. In a panic. Because it was Hanna and that’s what she did apparently. But with how often they ended up just staying at Caleb’s, it would make sense. Not need to bring it up though. Definitely something that Caleb would need to decide when to do so, if he ever did.
“Hey.” Always a good greeting. Smiling, the blonde shrugged. “It was good.” It wasn’t like anything spectacular had happened, but nothing horrible either. Just a typical day really. Nor did she really care what they watched, it was the spending time with Caleb that mattered. And well, they’d gone through almost all of Disney so switching it up would be good.
Well at least Hanna’s day was good. That was a relief. “I’m making spaghetti,” he grinned walking back into the kitchen to finish getting the food ready.. “Let’s see if you can eat it without tangling it all up.” Although he could certainly use a laugh if she did happen to tangle it up again. Plus it was adorable, but he did like to tease her about it. But then, when didn’t he like teasing her?
“Then I was thinking we could watch some kung fu movies?” They were his favorite even though he didn’t talk about it much. “Or we could just go straight up to the bedroom.” What? He was a guy after all.
“Yeah yeah. One day you’ll tangle your spaghetti and then see who’s laughing about it.” It was all in good fun so it wasn’t like Hanna minded the teasing her about it. But she could poke fun at him as well about it. Besides, spaghetti was always good in her opinion, even if it was annoying to try and untangle. Or impossible.
Hanna was about to respond to the comment on kung fu movies when Caleb then went to the bedroom comment. That earned him an eyeroll, because as fun as all that was? “Slow down, cowboy. Kung fu movies are fine.” And if they decided to head up to the bedroom, or the couch, who was she to complain. But really now.
Caleb highly doubted that would ever be happening. Tangled spaghetti was obviously a Hanna thing. Even in the dreams although that was more a reference to the spaghetti than him eating it but still. “If that ever happens you can laugh all you want,” he replied dishing the food onto plates for them.
“Fine,” he said with an over dramatic sigh, he was just kidding of course. If Hanna was willing to watch kung fu movies with him he was going to take full advantage of that. A smirk crossed his face as he handed Hanna her plate. “It’s about time I got to pick the movie,” he teased although he really didn’t mind the Disney. In fact he enjoyed it. Hanna knew just what he had missed out on and how to fix it. Now it was his turn to show Hanna what she had been missing out on.
Just because Caleb doubted it would happen didn’t mean it couldn’t happen. This was Orange County after all. “Oh I fully intend to if it happens.” Along with an ‘I told you so’ because Hanna was just that mature. Whatever, it was all in good fun and she always felt like she could actually be herself around Caleb.
Taking the plate, Hanna ignored the dramatic sigh since it was just that. Dramatic and exaggerated, meaning that there was no need to get all huffy about expectations for sex and the like. Really. Sex right after eating? No thank you. And she was promised movies so movies there would be. Even if they were Kung Fu ones. “I guess that’s fair.” She could tease right back. But it wasn’t like he had disliked the Disney movies, otherwise they wouldn’t have nearly finished all of them by now.
Someone needed to show Caleb what he’d been missing out on and Hanna was more than happy to do so.
He led Hanna over to the table setting his own plate down so they could eat. Then movies. They didn’t have to do both at the same time. As excited as he was to show Hanna some of his favorites he did wanted to have a proper meal. Like they would have if he hadn’t changed their plans last minute.
Caleb glanced at his laptop. He had an alert set up on his phone in case anything happened again but still he couldn’t help but be a bit worried. Now wasn’t the time to think about it though. He just wanted to focus on his girlfriend. “You guess?” he replied with another smirk. “There should be no guessing. Do I need to go look up the definition of fair for you?” he teased. Yeah they could still have a great night.
Following Caleb to the table, she sat down though quirked a brow as he glanced at his laptop. Maybe it came from knowing him, or the fact that in the dreams the girls were always worrying about text messages and whatever else A might throw at them. Whatever it was, something didn’t sit right but Hanna brushed it off. She and Caleb had promised honesty to one another and so if something were wrong, he would tell her. She trusted him.
“Well you could but that just means cutting out time for dinner and kung fu movies. So really the choice is yours.” Grinning, she took a bite of non-tangled spaghetti, already looking forward to the rest of the night.
