As usual Caroline was one busy girl. Now that classes were out for a few weeks she had more time. It was the perfect time to start up her pole dancing lessons. Which she was honestly excited about. Plus it meant spending time with Midna which was always a good time. She had shown up in her winter clothes because it was freakin snowing outside. Not that she was surprised it happened every year but still. Once she got there she changed into shorts and a tank tope and put on the heels Midna had dropped off with Anna for her. “Alright!” Caroline exclaimed as she walked over to the pole. “Let’s do this thing,” she glanced back over at Midna, “So uh, what do I do?” Midna just grinned, a brilliant flash of teeth that spoke volumes about how proud she was - little Caroline, learning to work the pole! It was a momentous occasion for sure. She wasn’t even sporting a glamour, instead going all out with blue skin, orange hair, and those garnet eyes - which glittered happily, at the thought of getting to teach someone all about this particular craft. It was a good thing that Caroline wore her appropriate heels for a sexier feel, because beginners often bashed their feet on the pole a lot - so you wanted something to cover them. They also tended to fight the momentum which actually swung them around the pole - this led to more bashing, but she’d try to mitigate that as much as possible. For her, it was booty shorts, a sports bra, and her sparkly purple stiletto heels. Anyone could learn to pole dance - young or old, small or large, so this would be awesome. Caroline’s vampire traits may even help her learn faster, but Midna would see. “We’ll start with a basic spin or two,” she said. “But first you have to learn how to approach the pole. Start at the back, use your dominant hand to grab at the height of your head, straighten your arm, and your weight should be hanging away from the pole - then...” She moved as she talked, showing Caroline the steps. “Hook the pole with your leg, arch your body, straighten up. That will complete the wrap-around, which will allow you to transition to more complicated moves once you master it. Try it a few times.” It didn’t bother her at all that Midna didn’t have her glamour on. She liked the blue skin and orange hair. It suited her, made her look even more beautiful honestly. Caroline also couldn’t help but notice that Midna looked more excited than she was for her pole dancing lesson. Of course Caroline had worn the heels. That was why Midna had gotten them for her right? If she was going to do this pole dancing thing she was going to do it right. She knew it was a good workout but that wasn’t really why she was doing it. Being a vampire she would never lose or gain weight. Always look exactly how she looked the day she died. She wasn’t doing it to impress a guy either. It just looked fun ant it was a good way to spend time with Midna. Plus she had a feeling it would make her feel super sexy which was always a plus. Caroline wasn’t always the most secure person. Caroline watched carefully, eyes wide as Midna showed her what to do. “You make it look so easy,” she commented with a nervous laugh. But she was a vampire. She had super strength. That had to be helpful. Right? She did as Midna said and did. Grabbing the pole with her right hand just where her head was. Then she hooked her leg around the pole, arched her body and attempted to straighten up, only she ended up sliding down. She wrinkled her nose. The pole was more slippery than she thought. She repeated it a few times until she finally got it. “Yes!” she exclaimed triumphantly clinging to the pole. That was why Midna always stressed to her students (okay, so she’d only taught two people to pole dance thus far) not to wear creams or lotions when they came to class - the pole was slippery enough as it was, and if you slicked yourself up, it just got worse. “Good,” she chuckled. “I’m going to show you a couple spins now, and then the transitions - there are certain poses, and also floorwork and slides down the pole that you’ll learn and eventually put everything together to make a routine. You know, getting all the pieces of the puzzle. But first the spins.” She used the pole to do one, explaining where she was putting her arms and legs and then adding, “Remember to point your toes!” as a cautionary. “Once you come out of that, you transition to a bit of floorwork - shoulder roll, circles with your hips,” the way she moved was graceful and fluid. “Think of yourself as a silk ribbon - it helps you get that wavelike motion all throughout your muscles. You’ll also feel it really working your core.” Then she straightened up. “Okay, try what we just worked on - approach, spin, floor. Go.” Like building blocks! Once again Caroline watched and listened carefully as Midna demonstrated. Before she knew it it was her turn to try again. “Approach, spin, floor, silk ribbon. Got it.” Really she had no idea if she did or not. How was she supposed to think of herself as a ribbon? Whatever she was going to try her best. This was her first lesson after all and if she couldn’t make an idiot out of herself in front of her friend then who could she look like an idiot in front of? She approached the pole just fine, the spin well she managed it but no way did it wasn’t all that smooth. She did remember to point her toes though so at least there was that. Then time for the floor work. She went through the same motions Midna had showed her but she was no silk ribbon. Not even close. When she finished she wiped her forehead because she had actually managed to break as sweat and gave Midna a sheepish smile. “I don’t know how you used to do this all the time.” It took a little while to get to silk ribbon status, Midna had to admit. “Lots of practice but hey, don’t give up, you’re doing great,” she giggled, then grabbed a towel to wipe down the pole - you had to sort of do it consistently, to prevent any slippage. Sweat and stuff tended to gather pretty quickly when you were working hard. “Okay, to sort of round it all off, I’m gonna have you do something called the ‘Hang Tough,’” she said. “It will help you keep your grip and is good for beginners.” Approaching the pole again, Midna got a hold of it with her dominant hand first, hands above her head, and held on - her legs lifted, toes pointed behind her, and she was hanging on to the pole using her upper body strength. Then she let herself touch the floor again. “Do this, for as long as you can stand it. I’ll time you.” And if Caroline could keep herself up there for awhile, she could conquer anything. Caroline’s eyes widened as she watched Midna demonstrate this ‘Hang Tough’ move. Midna seriously wanted her to do that? Well couldn’t hurt to try right? Actually it could if she like fell or something but she was a vampire. She’d heal fast. And this was what she was here for after all. She approached the pole, grabbing onto it with her dominant hand first. Then she did her best to imitate what Midna had done, lifting her legs and pointing her toes behind her. She was able to hold on for a few minutes, her vampire strength probably helped out a lot but after about five minutes her arms started to burn too much and she had to let go. “I can’t imagine doing that without my strength.” Five minutes was still a lot! Midna was impressed; she even gave Caroline a round of applause. “But you feel it in your core, right? Around here?” She motioned to her abdomen, all those muscles - pole dancing was a great way to develop them, and develop the strength there. “Pretty soon you’ll have the hottest abs out of any vampire.” Well, hey, she knew Caroline wouldn’t get fatter - her body type was her body type, for however long an eternity was - but she still sweated and worked her muscles and could get stronger, or so Midna assumed. Another swipe of the pole to get it clean, and she tossed her friend a separate (clean) towel to use to dab at the perspiration on her face and neck. “Ready for a break? I can make us something at the bar for replenishment. Virgin pina coladas or something.” Being manager at the Rear End meant that she had the keys, so she could let people in whenever - even for pole dancing lessons; it was the perfect ‘studio’ for them. Caroline honestly had no idea if it would change her body. But it certainly couldn’t hurt. Plus it was fun and she definitely felt it working her muscles. “Definitely!” Caroline replied lifting her arms up above her head and back in a sort of stretch. “They’ll never beat your abs though!” because duh. Even if Midna was working more as a manager than a dancer now Caroline was sure she still got a good workout. “Why virgin?” Caroline teased. “Is drinking and pole dancing a no-no?” One drink wouldn’t do like anything to her. Her tolerance was so high now thanks to the whole vampirism thing. “A break sounds pretty great,” or you know calling it a day for the whole pole dancing part. Caroline was already worn out. Of course she still wanted to spend more time with Midna though. “So how have you been?” she asked walking towards the bar area with her. “How were your holidays?” “Well, you know, alcohol’s not the best at quenching thirst - “ Didn’t it dry you out more or something? Whateverrrrrr, “...but hey, I am all for boozing it up a little.” You only lived once, right? She click-clacked her way to the bar, in her heels, and began rummaging for the necessities to whip them up something fruity and fun. Definitely pina coladas. The blender acted as a catcher’s mitt for everything, and she tossed it all in there - ice, pineapple, coconut cream, and then in each hand she had a bottle of white and dark rum to pour in there as well. Adding generous amounts of each. “I’ve been good though!” she beamed. “The holidays were kind of low-key which was nice. I just went to Zelda’s, to spend the day with her and Impa. We had a lot to celebrate, because of her victory with the company and all. I mean, god, she’s like a gazillionaire now - I need to figure out what I wanna do with my life besides dance.” The fear that she’d hold Zelda back, or they wouldn’t even be in the same stratosphere anymore, was one that nagged at the fallen Twilight Princess - but she’d managed to finally find her place, ruling over the Twilight Realm in her dreams, so she could find her place here too. “Good point.” She wasn’t sure if it worked the same way on her but she did remember in the dreams when they had tried to starve her to get her to turn her humanity back on, drinking alcohol sped up the whole starvation process. But whatever. She was in a bar she had to drink. She could quench her thirst, or hunger, later. “That sounds good! Low key is best sometimes,” which was saying a lot considering Caroline was usually all about parties and getting all her friends together. She was saving that for New Year’s Eve though. “I bet that’s like a huge adjustment. How’s she handling it all? I’ve seen her in the tabloids a few times,” she wasn’t exactly sure if it was her place to bring that up but it was hard to avoid and she was trying to check in on her friend. “My holiday was pretty low key as well. Just spent it at my moms although friends dropped by on and off. We” (as in her and her roommates) “are throwing a party for New Year’s Eve though! You and Zelda should come.” “She’s been handling it well. I think she kind of expected everything so it was a matter of hanging on as the storm surged around her,” Midna laughed. She poured two glasses of pina colada, tropical island goodness and passed one to Caroline. If they closed their eyes, they’d be on a beach somewhere instead of in a strip club, during a freakish OC winter. “But fixing what that fucker messed up is going to take a lot of work.” And she’d help out how she could, but Midna wasn’t really a business person (running a strip club wasn’t exactly putting her in the same league as Harvard Business School grads) - so she’d just be there, however her girlfriend wanted her to be. Oooh, a party! That sounded good though. “Anyway, we’ll definitely drop by,” she grinned. “That place you’re living in is pretty snazzy. Perfect for a New Year’s blowout. You have someone to smooch at midnight?” “Yeah that sounds intense.” Because Caroline didn’t really know what else to call it. She couldn’t imagine running a whole company. Especially one with all the baggage. But if anyone could handle it she was sure it was Zelda. “It’s good that you’re there for her. Supporting her and all that.” Wasn’t that what relationships were about? “How are your Arabic classes going?” she asked picking up her drink and taking a sip of the tropical goodness. Yum. “I’m glad! It will be so much fun!” She did love having all her friends together. It wouldn’t be the same without Midna. And she really liked Zelda too. “I do, yeah,” Caroline admitted with a sheepish smile. “That guy I told you about. The one I bit. We have reached ‘relationship status’.” Midna liked her Arabic classes, and she was surprisingly good in them. A lot better than she thought she’d be, that was for fucking sure. And to think, she was inspired by Dracula to give foreign languages a try - how freaking adorable. “They’re actually not bad,” she said, swirling her drink in the glass to get it all creamy, mixed, and sloshy. Then she took a seat on the stool behind the empty bar, relishing the quiet of the club. “I’m in the ‘advanced’ one now, and once I finish that? I might do some immersion stuff to learn more, and practice. Like volunteer with an Arab organization in the OC.” She’d love to travel too, but she’d have to see - maybe it was in the cards, maybe not. “Oooh, wait, so your friends with benefits guy became your boyfriend? That’s so cute! I totally wanna meet him.” She was happy for her friend. No reason not to be - having someone to smooch at midnight and whenever otherwise was definitely a good thing. “That’s a great idea. You’ll get to practice actually speaking the language with people who are fluent plus give back to the community. I barely speak like any French but when I was in France this summer it definitely improved. It was a different story when we went to Italy though considering I have never taken an Italian class in my life but I can pick up a few phrases now.” She took a seat on the stool next to Midna swiveling around on it to face her friend. “Well he’ll be at the party. So you can meet him then,” she nodded as if she was agreeing with herself before taking another sip of her drink. She did have to agree with Midna though. It was nice having someone to smooch whenever she pleased. Though she supposed she could do that with a friend with benefits too but still. She’d had a few friends with benefits in her day, but Midna had to admit that the connection with someone was so much better - when it was actually real, as opposed to kind of a ‘fuck and go’ sort of thing. It worked for some people, and others it didn’t - so whatever tickled the pickle, really. “Awesome. And I’m sure you have people who will check him out, but I have to also - it’s what I do for my chicas,” she laughed impishly, wrapping an arm around Caroline to give her a squeeze. “I’m kinda scary, you know. I can turn into a huge-ass spider.” Not that she’d do that in front of Blondie’s manpanion, but just in case. Sometimes a little pants-shitting was necessary. Caroline usually did the whole friends with benefits thing. When feelings got involved she got scared and took off before they guy could. But usually Caroline was able to stay detached. Obviously that wasn’t the case this time. And when she tried to run he hadn’t let her. So viola Caroline was in a relationship. She laughed at Midna’s comment. “Please don’t turn into a giant spider at my party.” It was nice knowing her friend had her back though. Same went for Midna, but she already knew Zelda was good news. “So,” Caroline said taking a nice long sip of her drink. “I think I’m ready to get back on that pole now.” |
