This was going to be great. Midna had the very best, most excellent Christmas present for Caroline - she had to be sneaky in order to get the right size, and some of it was skilled guesswork too, but she managed to get what she knew would be an excellent pair of stripper shoes for her blonde friend. For those pole dancing lessons she wanted to take, the ones Midna would be glad to give her - at a discounted rate, or free of charge, whatever. She didn’t really even believe in charging friends anyway, and she’d known Caroline when they were both kind of down on their luck and waitressing, serving pie to the masses. Now she was a vampire who could compel a million dollars from a bank if she wanted, sure, but Caroline seemed to still want to skate on the moral side of things which was cool. Midna was doing better in terms of money as well - she had two jobs, and maybe soon she could put those Arabic classes to use in the workforce. Maybe. So with the wrapped box, beautiful chunky-heeled with an ankle strap shoes (glittery pink ones!) inside, she went to Caroline’s house to drop off the slightly belated present. When it came to pole dancing, stripper shoes were kind of necessary anyway - they had more support than street heels, and were better for long periods of wear and tear. They also made the assets look amazing. She had no need for a glamour thanks to her 'wish,' so her skin looked to be that cafe au lait shade instead of blue, her eyes hazel-gold rather than bright red. The orange hair was tucked behind her ears before she knocked on the door - maybe she should have called first? Calling might have been the way to go! As it was, Anna was in the house by herself. She thought Lexi was at work, and Caroline was probably with Peeta. Stefan was a bit of a mystery. Maybe he was off eating deer, or something? In any case, Anna was alone in the house. She'd been cleaning up the Christmas decorations and preparing the place for the New Year's Eve celebrations when she heard the knock at the door. Anna was a little ball of sunshine and enthusiasm. When she bounced to the door and pulled it open, she practically shone. "Oh, hi!" She said, grinning. "I thought you might be the UPS guy. I'm expecting an Amazon package." ...omg, so much more information than was necessary. “Nope, not the UPS guy,” Midna grinned, hip jutted out to the side, the box with a bow under her arm and resting there. She was about at Amazonian heights anyway, so her own stripper shoes made her that much taller. They were boots that slid over her jeans, her favorite soft and fluffy sweater thrown on top of that. “Anna, right? I saw you at Caroline’s birthday party. Or parties, whatever. You got a lapdance from one of my best girls,” she winked. Right, parties as in plural. Because there was the one at the Rear End, kind of a ladies night out with those who could make it, and then the belated Vegas trip which was fun. “I just came by to drop off her Christmas present kinda late, is she home?” Anna nodded, grinning brightly. She had to look up to meet Midna’s eye. Anna was a tiny little thing and Midna was an Amazonian goddess. It wasn’t like Anna wasn’t used to that, though. She had a lot of tall friends. Or, well, taller than she was, anyway. She really liked having tall people around. She could elicit help getting things off high shelves! “Yeah! That’s me. And you’re Midna.” She really really hoped she’d gotten the name right. But it was kinda easy to remember. “I did!” That brought forth a blush and a laugh from the young girl. “That was so much fun!” She moved out of the way and held the door open so Midna could come inside. Midna, fallen Twilight Princess, stepped into the house casually. She hadn’t been here before so she was eager to check it out and see what fancy digs Caroline was living in. Seemed nice, a hell of a lot nicer than Midna’s hovel of an apartment in a bad neighborhood. But it was home, sort of, that was what mattered. “That’s me,” she confirmed, so Anna didn’t have to worry about getting the name wrong. “Glad you had fun though. You looked like you did.” Setting the present down on a table somewhere, she turned and thoughtfully studied the redheaded roommate. Anna looked like she had fun that night, but also looked like she needed to loosen up a bit - maybe get in touch with her inner sex kitten. “I’m going to be giving Caroline pole dancing lessons. That’s what the gift is for,” a nod toward the box. “They’re stripper shoes, you know, good for class. If you’re interested in learning too, I could teach you both at the same time?” May as well offer. Tidings of joy and all that shit. Anna laughed again. “I was having fun. I was embarrassed, sure, but it was fun! I never even imagined doing something like that, and well… I’m so glad that I did.” Anna closed the door behind Midna, and motioned toward the kitchen. “Oh, really? Oh my Gosh, that sounds amazing! Like so much fun! And I hear it’s really good exercise. Is that true, too?” She added, then moved to the fridge to pull out a bottle of water. The fridge was full of blood. Bags of blood. The trouble with living with three vampires. “Can I get you anything?” Anna asked, holding up the water bottle as if offering it up. “It’s totally true,” Midna motioned toward her abdomen, where she was sporting some strength and muscle beneath the sweater. "It does wonders for your core, and most other muscle groups too. Plus, it's a sexy way to get exercise." Perfect all around, a win-win situation! "Water would be great, thanks," she added. Yeeeeeah, the blood. It technically wasn't too weird in the scheme of things - at least not for Midna. Her girlfriend's best friend was a vampire. And Midna herself was pretty fond of Vlad - though she was sure that neither him or Jonathan had blood bags in the fridge. She quirked an eyebrow, leaning against the counter. "It must be kind of strange, being the odd human out here." “Yes! Yes, then. I’m in.” Anna beamed as she passed the water over to Midna, then grabbed another one out of the fridge and shut the door. “Ah. Yes. Well, it’s good for some things, but not so great for others? I mean, having roommates with vamp speed is pretty awesome. Chores get done ridiculously fast… like shovelling the walkway of snow? Boom. Done. But it’s also a little disconcerting knowing that one of my roommates could wake up one morning and decide I’d make a good snack.” She uncapped the water bottle to take a gulp from it. Talking about her roommates, the vampires, was no big deal to Anna. She was used to it by now. Midna understood that. She also sympathized a bit because, well, she had certain special blood-drinkers in her life too. She got it. "Makes sense that you'd always be kind of worried about that," she said. "Vampires are dangerous, I mean, it's nothing personal - but they're predators, right? They are meant to hunt humans and stuff." She'd seen Vlad kill someone. The night of Zant's murder (and they'd gone specifically for that purpose, so it's not like it was a surprise), he basically ripped that guard's throat out. It was fucking scary, when she thought back on it, just witnessing it happen. "But, anyway," she sipped her water, the drink cool and refreshing. "If you need a break and want some human time, let me know. I have some vampire qualities but I'm more a shadow dweller, I don't drink blood," Midna grinned. "And I'll let you know when I'm gonna set up pole-dancing lessons." “Well yes, and I’ve been bitten.” Anna had a scars on her neck and both wrists from vampire bites. She probably wouldn’t have them if she’d let Caroline give her blood to heal it, but that was gross. The most recent was Stefan as the Ripper nearly pulling her head off, but she’d been on vervain. He was basically poisoned by her blood. It probably saved her life. “Stefan and Caroline go hunting animals sometimes. He doesn’t drink blood bags the way Lexi and Caroline do.” Anna said. She broke into a smile at the offer. “That actually sounds great. Not that I don’t love my roommates, but getting out of the house sounds pretty spectacular. And the more I think about it, the more excited I am for pole dancing.” The vampires Midna knew, they drank from humans - right from the vein, she was sure, and they didn’t exactly leave the person alive. But she didn’t really go into detail with them about it - it was just something that they had to come to terms with, and deal with, and figure out how to win the war against those monster instincts. Anna was a brave soul for living with three, however, even if they survived on blood bags. Or animals. “That must be like eating lettuce all the time, poor guy,” she chucked. “But yeah, I get it. Definitely do. I can put my number in your phone? Or you can just send me a network message whenever you wanna hang out. I’m nocturnal, so I keep weird hours.” She still couldn’t go out in the sunlight yet, but maybe that would change. Her dreams were finished and she’d been revived by Light Spirits, maintaining sort of a connection to the Light World itself, so perhaps that would begin to creep in here as well. Anna was a naive, trusting girl for living with any vampires. But so far so good. She'd only been bitten by two of the three of her roommates. Thankfully, she had the vervain still, and took a little every day to keep her blood poisonous to them. "Yeah... he's got a strict vegetarian diet." Anna replied. "He seems happy with it, though." Then she drew her phone out and handed it over to Midna. See? Trusting. Trusting to a fault, this one. "Sure! Here. Then we can text whenever. And the same goes for you? If you ever need a friend or something... I'm around?" Anna wasn't sure what help she'd be to anybody, but there you have it. Midna was mostly harmless, so she simply programmed her number into Anna’s phone and gave it back. Then she pulled out her own and fired off a text. Ta da! “Now you’ve got mine,” she grinned impishly. “I definitely won’t say no to having friends.” It was nice to just talk about stuff that didn’t have to do with their dreams or whatever (or say, living with three vampires who could snap and turn their only human housemate into a snack at any moment), so she’d gladly appreciate the offer. “Oh, yeah, and whenever Caroline gets home, just let her know that I’ve left her present,” Midna added, with a nod toward where she’d set it on the table. “Hopefully she’ll like those stripper shoes.” They were pretty awesome, if Midna said so herself. It was nice to make new friends! It was probably Anna’s favorite. She could never have too many friends--friends to turn to when the house got all vampy. Or friends to drag her away from her studying. Or friends she could help in their time of need, too. “Hey, can do.” Anna said with a bright smile. “I’m sure she’s gonna love them. And let me know when you want to do pole dancing lessons. I’m definitely in.” |
