Elizabeth was still getting used to her new home the morning after she moved in. Everything was strange, even down to the smell of the place. She worried about finding her place in her new home and hoped that Booker’s roommate would like her.

To help facilitate that she’d decided to cook breakfast for the older woman. It was her habit to cook for her family anyway, so it was another way to help herself feel more at home. She was at peace while she cooked, humming and darting around the kitchen. When she was busy nothing felt strange anymore. She felt more centered.

When she was done cooking she laid out breakfast and started a pot of coffee. Hopefully Anna and Booker would be up soon.

Rogue made her way downstairs, yawning a little bit. Elizabeth would find the kitchen as amazing as any professional one. Rogue had a ton of gadgets, and a box marked recipies that was pretty much exploding with them. There were spices of all kinds and everything anyone could ever want. The idea of someone using her kitchen made her twitch but she knew that her real domain was at the cafe. She’d scared everyone out of her kitchen at home a long time ago, but now in the interest of making life a little more relaxed she was letting people in.

Which is why she didn’t freak out when she found Elizabeth making breakfast. She stretched upwards, yawning before she leaned on the kitchen doorframe. “Good morning, find everything okay?” she asked as she smiled a bit. It had been just her and Booker for some time now and it was going to take a little getting used to having someone here again. She didn’t mind, far from it, but it was an adjustment.

It was an adjustment for Elizabeth too. She looked up at Rogue and smiled, nodding cheerfully. “The kitchen is amazing. You have things that I don’t even know what they do.” She’d stayed carefully away from them, because the last thing she wanted was to mess something up. “It’s nice to officially meet you. I hope you like eggs and-slash-or waffles because that’s what I made. If you’d like something else I’d be happy to make it.” She smiled again, then took a deep breath to soothe her nerves. This was all a lot of change and now that she wasn’t taking part in her morning routine she had time to be nervous.

Rogue laughed. “Yes, well, those are the byproduct of being told to find something to do with your life and ending up owning one’s own cafe. Lord help me if I run out of kitchen space.” she grinned. “Eggs and or waffles is fine.” she grinned a bit. “I’m generally not a breakfast person but I’ve been trying to change that. Me not having to make it helps.” she smiled.

“I feel like that’s where I’m at right now. I hope I do something as nice as opening a cafe. You must be a really good cook, then! I hope I did a good job.” She would have made something a little more unusual if she’d known what Rogue did for work. The coffee pot ceased to make brewing noises so Elizabeth located the mugs and pulled one down. “Coffee? I know I can’t go more than an hour without some kind of caffeine intake.”

Rogue smirked a bit. “Well, everyone comes back for more - whether it be at the cafe or in house - so I guess I’m good enough.” she smiled a bit more. “Honestly, it’s what I needed to do. I didn’t have a good start, so turning my life around is good.” then she nodded. “Coffee good. Pray to the gods of caffeine.” she laughed, eyes sparkling a bit.

Elizabeth giggled at Rogue’s bragging. She appreciated that Rogue was so confident. “I’m glad you have a job you really enjoy. I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do with my life.” She’d only started to give the question thought over the past week.

Once the coffee was poured she made her way to the table, setting Rogue’s cup by her plate. “Did you sleep well?”

Rogue smiled warmly at Elizabeth and shrugged a little bit. “If you ever need to putz around a job for a little bit you can come to the cafe. No pressure, and no need to stick around once you figure out what you like. I can always use a hand, and the last time this lovely city dumped fun on us, everyone got paid for not bothering to come in.” she snickered a bit. “Be ready for the fun this place brings, you’ll see.”

She took a sip of the coffee and sighed happily. “Nah, never do, you?”

The thought of working in the cafe was pleasing to Elizabeth, even though it was also a little intimidating. Whether she did it or not it was kind of Rogue to offer. She smiled shyly and said, “Thank you. I’m sorry you didn’t sleep well. I slept okay. Moving is tiring!”

Rogue laughed a bit. “Moving is always tiring. I’m glad you slept okay, though, I know it can be weird at first.” she shrugged “the house is big, and it’s just us three so feel free to add whatever you’d like to it.” She didn’t mind offering her a place to work until she figured out what she wanted. The cafe was a nice, relaxed place and Rogue never minded the company of well, almost, anyone here.

“Thank you very much. I don’t have much to add. I’d just like to paint my walls, if that’s okay?” She sipped her coffee, hoping Rogue would say it was. Painting without permission would just be rude.

She blinked then smiled. “Whatever you want, really it’s fine. Paint away.” she smiled as she started in on breakfast. “I meant it, I don’t care as long as you dont’ like, put a pool inside. I don’t want to pay that homeowners insurance rate.” she teased.

Elizabeth giggled, though she didn’t 100% understand the joke. She ate a couple bites, planning what to do with her space. This was going to be such fun! “How did you meet Booker?”

She offered a bit of a smile. Then tried to figure out the best way to tell Elizabeth how they had met. Probably not exactly the best answer, but, at least it was semi-true. “I was out running and almost ran into him.” mostly. Sorta. There were comments made, and a lot less actual running into him.

“Oh! Is that how people meet each other?” She hoped it didn’t require actual running, because she wasn’t the best at that yet. Maybe it was more figurative than literal. That would make sense. “He seems like a nice man.”

There was actual running involved. Rogue hated to run, but sometimes it helped. And sometimes it made her mad enough to deck good friends Logan in the face a few times for making her go running. “One way, yes.” she smiled a bit. “Come hang out at the cafe, it’s a lot easier to meet people that way than running. Have lunch, and relax.” she shrugged a bit. “He is, he’s a pretty decent guy.”

“If I’m going to hang out I should work,” Elizabeth decided. “But not today. I think I’m going to rest today because I’m pretty tired, still.” Moving was more exertion than she’d done in a long time.

A hand waved lightly. “No need, it’s really a good place to just sit around and people watch.” she smiled. “But there’s plenty to eat here, I often bring leftovers from the day’s cooking at the cafe home, feel free to dig into anything you find. If you see random people popping in from time to time to raid the fridge, don’t be alarmed, I pretty much give my friends an open ended welcome to do so.”

“That’s very kind of you,” Elizabeth said with a smile. “You must have a lot of friends with a policy like that.” Not that Rogue needed to bribe her friends, of course. “Are you going to your cafe today? I’d like to see a little bit more of the world and I could use a ride.”

“Once you meet some of them you’ll understand. Bottomless pits, all of them.” she laughed, she didn;t mind of course. She loved spoiling her friends. “I am, and I can bring you anywhere you need to go. Though, pack light, I have a motorcycle instead of a car.” she grinned.

“Oh! That’s going to be fun to ride!” Elizabeth enthused. “I’ll go grab my bag and get ready. Thanks for the ride!”

Rogue smiled. “Sure thing.” she smiled and finished up so she could meet Elizabeth outside and head into town. She liked the girl already.
