Who: Peeta Mellark and Caroline Forbes
What: Dream discussion
Where: Peeta's apartment
When: November 18th
Rating: NC-17
Status: Complete
Spending time with Caroline had become a more frequent thing after the big vampire reveal. Peeta had to admit he was surprised about that fact because he had almost expected to lessen his interaction with her, but after reflecting on it he knew that he couldn’t fault her for keeping it a secret. He also couldn’t fault her for something that her dreams had brought about. The dreams were a strange and mysterious thing and his had bled over into his life as well. So, he invited Caroline over for an evening of just hanging out in his apartment.
The whole feeding a vampire thing confused him and he intended to ask her about her food preferences, but he at least picked up some Chinese takeout earlier and brought back a couple things from the bakery. He was finishing things up when he heard the buzzer in his apartment go off and he quickly crossed to the door to open it. An easy smile appeared on his face at the sight of her and he pulled her into the apartment with a kiss.
The more time she spent with Peeta the more time she wanted to spend with him. The way he was handling her being a vampire was a big part of that. She was pretty sure not every guy would be so understanding about the whole thing. But the fact that he was a dreamer as well helped a lot. Still though his actions, they just showed what a great guy he was.
When it came to food, Caroline could eat human food and she still enjoyed it. She just needed blood too. Which was precisely why she had a little cooler full of blood bags with her. If she was going to keep spending the night at Peeta’s place she was going to have to keep some food there. Hopefully he would be just as understanding about that as he had been about everything else.
However, when he answered the door the cooler was forgotten about as he kissed her. Caroline deepened the kiss shutting the door behind her with her free hand before it moved to the collar of his shirt. “Hi,” she said with a smile on her face when the kiss broke, fingers toying with the fabric.
“Hey,” his voice was a little breathless as he smiled back at her. Okay, so maybe he just really enjoyed kissing her, it wasn’t his fault. It didn’t help when she played with his collar and made him want to draw her in once again, “how are you?” He should probably try to have a normal conversation with her.
But then his eyes flicked down and he noticed the cooler in her hand. His hazel eyes flicked back to hers and his eyebrow arched, “What’s up with the cooler? You didn’t have to bring anything over.” He was pretty good at making sure that he had everything they could possibly need for food.
Caroline definitely wouldn’t have minded more kissing. But then he saw what she had brought. Well this conversation would probably stop the kissing for awhile. Maybe even forever if this didn’t go well. No. Caroline wasn’t going think like that. Peeta had taken everything so well, he would be understanding about this too, right?
“It’s for me,” she replied giving him one more quick kiss before reluctantly taking a few steps away from him making her way to the kitchen with the cooler in hand. “I figure if I am going to be staying over here I’m going to need my own food.” She set the cooler down on the counter not ready to empty it’s contents into the fridge until she had Peeta’s permission. “You know so we don’t have any more repeats of the other morning.”
The quick kiss was returned before he watched her walk over towards the kitchen with a confused look. There was a beat before he followed along behind her and when she mentioned needing her own food he paled just a little. Wait, so there was blood inside of that cooler? And she was going to be keeping it at his place? This wasn’t what he had been expecting this evening, but it did make a lot of sense.
Did he want her to starve every time she came over? Of course not. Did he want her to feed on him because she was starving? He wasn’t super inclined to make that a normal thing, but he hadn’t expected her to keep blood in his fridge. “Oh…” it was a simple reply and he moved to open up his fridge. After studying it for a moment he shuffled things around and emptied the contents of one of the drawers.
He turned back around to her and let out a bit of a sigh. “Sorry. I guess I was just taken by surprise. I want you to be comfortable around me when we’re together and feeding properly is certainly a way to make that possible. I don’t want you to be hungry when you’re here.”
Maybe she should have asked first or given some type of warning. But she didn’t exactly know how to handle this situation. Head on had seemed like the best option but now Caroline was doubting that. After the initial shock at the idea of having to keep blood in his fridge he seemed somewhat okay with it though. He even made room for it.
She gave him a small smile in return. “I know,” she replied taking a few steps closer to him. “I’m sorry the whole sleeping with a vampire thing is so complicated.” Now it was her turn to sigh. “It’s not super easy being one either, but you get used to it, promise.” And just like that she was back to being her cheerful optimistic self. “I can put it away myself if you don’t want to like look.”
“The vampire part might be complicated, but sleeping with Caroline Forbes is pretty easy to do. I’m still learning. We should probably sit down and discuss our dreams, since we haven’t really done that. I mean, we know things about each other, but not everything,” Peeta was suggesting that as a way to learn more about the mythology of her being a vampire.
When she was close to him he reached out to take her wrists and bring her to him. He placed a kiss on her forehead, “And I know I’ll get used to it. And it’s fine if you put it away in front of me. Curiosity will get me at some point since it will be in my fridge. It’s just...weird. I mean, I was with a girl that could pull a sword out of her chest, so this shouldn’t be so strange.”
“Peeta Mellark! You are going to make me blush,” she teased that huge smile still on her face. This was actually going pretty well. But yeah dream discussion was a good idea. She knew a little about his but not much and she had to admit she wanted to know more. And he definitely deserved to have any questions he had about vampires or her dream world answered. “We can definitely talk about our dreams,” she agreed. “And then more fun?” she suggested with a smirk.
“You’re pretty great, you know that?” she said giving him a kiss on his cheek before going to the cooler to put the blood away. And then he mentioned sword girl. Well that was the first time either of them had mentioned past.. whatevers. “A sword out of her chest? Really?”
That smile did things to him. It made him feel warm and he still didn’t know how in the world he managed to luck out to find someone like her. It came with a whole new set of challenges, but that only meant that he was growing as a person, which was important in the long run. Who wanted to live a sheltered life their entire existence? “Yes, that should work well.”
He chuckled softly at her calling him great and shook his head bashfully, “I’m not that great. Now, put that away and we can eat and talk. I got takeout. And yeah, a sword out of her chest. I never saw it, but it was some weird dream power that she got.” It wasn’t painful to mention Alyssa, which was good, and he just felt kind like he should probably explain his last relationship eventually to Caroline.
“Dream powers are weird,” Caroline said as she transferred the blood bags from her cooler into his fridge. “I still haven’t tried all of mine,” because yes vampirism came with a few powers. But they could discuss that later.
“There, all done,” she said proudly closing the drawer and shutting his fridge before turning her attention back to Peeta. “Now we can eat.” Human food. And discuss dreams. “So you were close with sword girl?” she was doing her best to not sound jealous, insecure. She didn’t want to turn into the girl she used to be. Sad, insecure Caroline with the daddy issues.
Once she declared the task done he moved to grab the plates and food to bring them over to the table. When she posed her question he bit his lip just slightly as he went to grab utensils for them along with glasses. “Yeah. She was my last girlfriend. We were briefly engaged, which thinking back was kind of silly since we hadn’t been together long, but there had been some events that I thought proved that she could be the one. And in my mind it seemed silly to wait around to declare my intentions, so I asked her. And not long after she decided that she was still hung up on her ex and broke up with me,” he at least left out the part about it being when he found out about Gale’s fake death.
It was a lot to reveal about himself, but she needed to know. He set the utensils and glasses down and then took a seat across from Caroline. He wanted to see her reaction to the story.
Caroline sat down at the table while Peeta brought the food over, listening to his story. She wasn’t exactly sure how to react. Her face fell slightly. Not just because Peeta had been engaged before, but also because of how the girl treated him. Deciding to get back with her ex not long after they had gotten engaged. That was fucked up. He didn’t deserve that.
Once he sat down at the table Caroline reached out, taking his hand in hers. “I’m so sorry,” and she genuinely meant it. “You didn’t deserve that. At all.” The usual sweetness in Caroline’s tone was replaced with anger for what Peeta had to go through. “You’re better off without her,” and she wasn’t just saying that because it meant she got to meet him.
It was sweet of her to say and he gave her a smile as he squeezed her hand gently. “Thanks. It was hard when it happened, but I certainly agree with you about being better off without her. You’re definitely a big part in helping me out with that,” he hadn’t intended to jump into something else immediately after the break up, but Caroline was a surprise and a happy one at that, “You got any awkward break up stories that you want to tell me about?”
“I do what I can,” she teased smiling back at him. She was glad that she was able to help, but the way he said it, it seemed like she was the first person he had been with since the whole thing. “How long ago was this whole thing, exactly?” yeah she couldn’t help but ask.
Oh so they were sharing about both their exes now. Doing that whole talk. “Not really,” she replied honestly. “I never really did the whole relationship thing. I’ve only had one. It just didn’t work out between us,” she shrugged it wasn’t anything as dramatic as what Peeta had gone through.
Oh. Well… he took his hand back from her and awkward scratched the back of his neck as he realized that he would have to explain that she had initially been a rebound. “Um, a few days before we met…” Yup. Now that was out there and he wasn’t quite sure how she would take that.
“Ahhh, that seems like one of the most mellow breakups ever,” Peeta teased just a little before reaching out to grab some of the food and dish it onto his plate. It was a little weird to do the whole ex talk, but at least it was out in the open.
Wow. That was… not long ago. Caroline wasn’t sure what to make of it all. There were so many things going through her mind. Was he really over his ex? They had been engaged after all. And yeah she knew it was originally just about sex between her and Peeta but now well she wasn’t sure. She wouldn’t have brought blood over if it was just that though. She would just leave early in the morning, before he woke up. Ugh. This was suddenly starting to get messy.
“Oh,” was all she said because what else was she supposed to say? She didn’t look at him though. Instead focusing her eyes on the food in front of her dishing up her own plate. “Weird timing,” she finally added before the conversation was back to her last relationship. “Yup. I got lucky.”
And this was when the evening just got incredibly awkward. He could only imagine the things going through her mind right now and he reached out to grab her hand and hopefully cause her to look at him again, “Hey. I promise there is absolutely nothing lingering over my ex. And if you don’t believe me then I’ll tell you that she broke up with me on the day I found out that my best friend was dead - the fake dead one - so yeah, she is basically my least favorite person.”
And that was saying something because Peeta tried to not say bad things about people. He hoped that he was able to make it so it wouldn’t awkward between them. He didn’t know everything that was going on in Caroline’s head, but he could take a guess on at least a bit of it. But he seriously was over Alyssa. There was nothing left for him to care about when she had treated him like that and he was obviously spending far more time with Caroline.
Well now Caroline liked this girl even less. Who broke up with someone the day they found out their friend had died? Even if he had turned out to be fake dead it didn’t sound like anyone knew that at the time. “Well I would hope so. Kind of sounds like a bitch,” she said looking back up at Peeta. She didn’t care too much about manners or being polite at the moment. Sure she was usually on the sweeter side but when something made her angry enough well she wasn’t afraid to voice it.
She still wasn’t sure what to make of all that. Even if things between them had just started out as sex, Peeta had gotten past some of Caroline’s walls but she could already feel them going back up. She would still answer any questions he had about vampires though because well he deserved it. And she did want to know more about his dreams. “So dream skills,” she said changing the subject back to their previous discussion because she didn’t think she wanted to hear about more about his ex at the moment. “Do you have any?” she took her hand back to pick up her fork and take a bite of food.
“Exactly,” a smirk tugged at the corner of Peeta’s mouth when Caroline made the declaration. It was completely true and though he would never say it aloud he completely agreed with it when Johanna said it and agreed now with Caroline. If he knew that she was starting to build walls back up he would be severely disappointed, but for the moment he had no idea.
The idea of him having any dream skills made him snort a little bit in laughter, “Oh god no. There’s nothing supernatural in my dreams. The girl, Katniss, in my dream is an amazing archer, but I’m a kid working in his parents bakery. I’m strong and that’s about it. I almost died a handful of times and have to be saved constantly. It’s a little pathetic. What do you get for being a vampire?”
Well at least he agreed with her on that point. But yeah she was definitely done with that topic for now.
“Archery sounds cool,” she didn’t know much about any of that. “And hey, nothing wrong with being strong.” Although Caroline was probably stronger than him but she didn’t need to point that out. “I don’t think there is anything pathetic about being saved. Shows there are people who care about you that want to keep you alive.” Seeing the bright side was kind of what she did.
“Um immortality,” well there were a few ways to kill her but that didn’t need to be shared. “Super speed, strength and senses. Healing blood. Compulsion. And dream manipulation. Downside is the whole having to drink blood thing and I can’t go out in sunlight unless I have this ring.” She held up her hand to show him.
“It’s fun to watch her because she’s just good. And being strong is fine, but when there’s a bunch of other people that are stronger and more skilled at killing than you it makes it hard to stay alive. And honestly, sometimes I’m not even sure if it was worth surviving in that place. I mean, it was a fairly happy ending at the end of the dreams, but there was a lot of horrible shit to put up with to make it there,” Peeta still wasn’t sure how he felt about the dreams as a whole. He almost wished he had died and he wouldn’t have to go through hijacking or watch his friends die.
“So, you’re never going to age? Young and beautiful forever,” he mused before listening to her explain the rest, “Explain the compulsion and dream manipulation to me.” he was quite curious how that would work. And he wasn’t surprised about the sunlight thing - at least some rumors held true- but he did take her hand and kissed her palm before letting go.
Caroline frowned. “Your dreams sound really horrible.” He said he got a happy ending but even with that he wasn’t sure if it was worth surviving? How terrible was that place? Yeah bad shit happened in Mystic Falls but she never thought anything like that. Besides even when her friends died there was always a chance they would come back with the whole supernatural aspect. So many of them had. “I’m glad you survived,” even if he wasn’t sure it was worth it.
“Basically. I’ll technically be twenty forever,” she sighed at that thought. She had just celebrated her twenty-first birthday, but she would never age past twenty. “Compulsion is kind of like mind control,” she explained though if she knew Peeta’s memories had been hijacked she might have tried to explain it differently. “I can make people do things. Or forget things. It only works on humans though. Not other vampires. And dream manipulation, that’s the one I have never tried here. I’ve done it once in the dreams. It’s basically like I can show the person whatever I want them to see. I gave my mom this memory of teaching me to ride a bike.”
“They are really horrible. It’s not something I would wish anyone else to dream. I’m...just glad that the world hasn’t taken a turn for the worse here and turned into what it’s like in my dreams. But I’m glad you’re glad I survived,” Peeta chuckled lightly. He was able to make light of his dreams for the most part, but he really truly hated them. He hated everything about Panem except for the people he was close to. It was truly a nightmare.
The way she described compulsion almost made him shudder because it did remind him a bit like hijacking, but probably with a hell of a lot less torture involved. And dream manipulation sounded quite strange, but she had only done it once, so maybe it wasn’t very common. “Interesting. Promise never to compel me?” he had no idea what he would do if she did happen to do that, but he also never wanted to find out. He trusted her and he didn’t want to go through something like that.
“Well if you start to see it going that way you might be able to stop it,” but yeah hopefully the world would never come to that. She definitely didn’t want to ever have to witness it and she was going to be around for a long time.
“I promise,” she mostly just used her compulsion for free things and it had taken her a long time to even get to that point. Of course there were a few other situations that called for it but hopefully Peeta would never be put in any of those. “There are more of us though. Others that have turned from my dreams. They aren’t dangerous.” Well unless Stefan went Ripper again and she wasn’t so sure about Damon but Peeta was safe. She still wanted to let him know though, that she wasn’t the only one.
“Well, I’m sure none of them are as nice as you, most likely,” he could see vampires being far more brooding and grumpy - kinda like those weird ones in Twilight - and certainly not as perky as Caroline was. He would place a bet that she was probably one of the few happy vampires around. He wasn’t surprised to hear there were more vampires around because there just seemed to be all sorts of crazy things going on here.
He took the moment to eat some of his food as he thought about what she had said. He didn’t seem completely scares about having her around as a vampire, and it certainly gave him a better understanding. Most of what he knew he was working with from movies/tv/novels, so they weren’t completely accurate, “So...anything else you want to surprise me with about your dreams?”
She was definitely one of the happier ones back in Mystic Falls. Here though it was easier to be happy there wasn’t as much drama or people out to kill them all. Still it was a safe assumption on Peeta’s behalf.
She let Peeta absorb all the information taking some time to let everything he told her sink in as well. Dreams just complicated everything but she was glad they were getting it all out in the open. Even if this was just a sex thing between them. She had just taken a bite of her food when Peeta asked his question. She almost said no. And if she had met him two months ago she probably would have. Because the other thing she barely even thought about, never thought it would affect her, but it had.
“We can turn our humanity off,” she informed him. “It’s like this switch that we just flip and then we don’t really have any emotions or a conscience or anything. I never thought I’d do it, but I did in the dreams and of course it bled over here but it’s back on now.” Obviously or she would probably be out snacking on people not having dinner with Peeta.
“Oh,” his eyes went a bit wide as she mentioned that. It almost reminded him of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with the whole soul/no soul type of thing that took place. He was surprised that it was such an easy switch to flip, but it made sense that something like that could be possible for vampires, “I’m sorry that happened. I’m glad it’s back though.” It probably would have made the experience of allowing her to feed on him a whole lot different.
Without much thinking he moved his chair to sit beside her and took her hand into his. She was revealing a lot of personal things about herself and he was grateful that she was willing to reveal herself to him. He looked up at her with a smile, “I just wanted to say thanks for telling me all this. I’m sure it’s hard to tell people about being a vampire, especially when you need to snack on someone as cute as me, but I think I’m feeling a lot more comfortable about it now. The whole vampire thing doesn’t change my opinion on how wonderful you are.”
He had been afraid that it would change his opinion of her and that was the hardest thing to get through. He had to tell his brain that she was still the same woman even if she had fangs and a taste for blood. He wanted to continue to see her and he wanted to make sure that she knew he wasn’t going to just disappear on her over it.
Well if the no humanity thing didn’t scare Peeta off it wasn’t likely that anything would. Maybe if he had witnessed her without it, but she was glad that he hadn’t. And she doubted it would ever happen again. She wouldn’t be stupid enough to ever choose to turn it off and she didn’t think her dreamself would ever do that again either so hopefully there would be no more bleed over.
Caroline smiled back at him when he moved over to her. “You deserve to know about vampires after what happened,” she replied. Vampirism wasn’t the easiest subject but it was a fact of her life and she had bitten Peeta. Even if she wasn’t sure where this was going or if he was over his ex he still deserved to know everything when it came to her vampirism. Including her week or no humanity. She was glad though, that it hadn’t changed things. She was still the same girl he had met at the bar, now he just knew what her diet consisted of and all the things she could do.
“You’re not so bad yourself,” she smirked. “And okay you are kind of cute,” she teased before going in for a kiss forgetting about the food.
It was that small moment when she leaned in for the kiss that he knew that she was it right now. He knew that he wouldn’t really be able to concentrate on anyone else and dating her was what he was supposed to be doing. He wasn’t going to rush things between the two of them, but he certainly wanted to make sure that he saw her as often as he could. She obviously didn’t mind the idea of spending a lot of time with him if she was willing to bring her blood over. She had completely snuck up on him and he was pleased by the whole thing.
He returned the kiss before chuckling into the kiss, “Kind of cute? Well, I’m going to tell you that you’re fucking sexy and I want to know if your vampire speed helps in taking off clothes.” He wrapped his arms around her waist as he pulled her close and continue to kiss her.
Well if Peeta wanted to see just what Caroline’s vampire powers could do…
Her lips still on his Caroline’s own arms wrapped around Peeta lifting them both up, with her vamp speed she pushed him up against the wall breaking the kiss to rip his shirt off, tossing it aside. Yeah she ruined his shirt. Oops? Sorry Peeta. She’d buy him a new one. Maybe. “Answer your question?” she didn’t wait for him to respond though before her lips were back on his. Hopefully she wasn’t being too rough with him.
Oh damn. That definitely answered his question and his head was spinning just slightly at how fast she was moving. He didn’t care about the shirt at all and his hands quickly moved to remove her shirt and flip her around so he could press her against the wall. The kiss was heatedly returned as he stepped in between her legs and pressed against her as they began to undress each other. He was going to have a lot of fun putting her vampire powers to the test tonight.
Once both of their clothes were removed Caroline paused for a moment. Slowing things down. Peeta had yet to experience any of her vampire abilities really. Yes he had just gotten a little taste of it but the last thing she wanted was to hurt him. Although she didn’t think it would come to that. It never had with her ex. But Peeta was a different person so before she continued with using her strength and speed she locked eyes with him (not in a way that would compel him though). “If it’s too much,” she breathed because she was still caught up in everything. “You let me know. I don’t want to hurt you.”
“I promise,” he said breathlessly before he realized something that made him pause for a moment, “So...quick question. Vampires can’t get pregnant can they? This isn’t like Twilight, right? I just wanted to know before I grabbed a condom.” He wasn’t the type to whine about how being without a condom was so much better, but he was going to make sure he followed her preferences. It hadn’t been something they talked about yet since she came out to him and he wanted to keep her happy.
“No,” Twilight really? Did she look like she sparkled? She was nothing like a Twilight vampire although she could see how he would be curious about the pregnancy thing. “No need for condoms,” she clarified. It was really kind of a sad topic if you thought about it too much but now was not the time for that. Instead she just got back to it wrapping her legs around him, her lips on his neck leaving kisses, not sucking and her fangs were not out he didn’t have to worry about that.
He knew she didn’t sparkle, but he had no idea of that kind of strangeness bled over into other vampire lore or if Twilight was just the shit show it truly was all by itself. He gave her a nod and knew that if anything ever happened then it would be a conversation they would have in the future. For now it was just clarification about how to continue this part of their relationship. Once that was over he tossed her up a little bit so that he could get a better hold on her as she kept her legs wrapped around him. The kisses on his neck made him groan and he used his free arm to massage her breasts as he pressed her a little harder against the wall and slipped inside of her as he gasped her name.
It was more sad for her than it was for him. It didn’t really have to affect him at all but not was not the time to think about it. IN fact it had already left her mind as his hand moved to her breasts, her nipples hardening under his touch. She threw her head back, a groan escaping her own mouth as he entered her. Her hands moved over his back feeling his muscles as she pulled him closer to her. She brought her lips back to his in another heated kiss.
Yup, not time to think about anything like that. Now as the time to concentrate on being present with Caroline and enjoying how well they fit together. Once her head fell back he quickly leaned forward to bite at her throat briefly. He couldn’t keep that up though because he felt her pulling him closer to her. He picked up the pace just slightly and gave her nipple a slight pinch as her lips found his and he let out a groan.
Caroline thrust her hips into him using a bit more of her strength than she intended. Again her head fell back as she let out a moan. One of her hands move down to his ass, giving it a squeezing. Damn his butt was perfect. His whole body was really and it was all hers for the moment. She breathed out his name, lips moving back to his neck.
The extra bit of strength was useful because it only spurred him on, especially when she reached down and grabbed his ass. He had not been expecting that and he let out a loud groan and picked up the pace. He leaned forward to nip at her jawline as his hand continues to tug on her nipples. “Oh shit, Caroline,” he managed to let slip as he tilted his head slightly for her. He was certainly going to reach his orgasm soon.
“Mmmmm,” was all Caroline could get out in response her hips moving rhythm with his, picking up the pace. Her one hand remained on his ass, cupping it. The other dug into his back. She was getting close to her own climax as well. Her lips moved back to his for one last heated kiss before she broke away with a loud moan as her orgasm hit.
It didn’t take him long after he felt her orgasm and that triggered his own. He thrust deeply inside of her and pressed against her tightly. Thank god the wall was study, but he reached a hand out to brace himself and her. He returned the kiss and then lowered his head to bury it in the crook of her neck as he groaned her name. He seriously couldn’t get enough of Caroline and he gently kissed her skin as he slowly came down from the orgasm high.
Caroline stayed like that for awhile with Peeta against her. She lowered her legs so bother her feet were touching the ground again but still wrapped around Peeta, both hands rested gently on his butt. She would be ready for round two soon enough but for now she was just enjoying being wrapped up in him as her breathing started to slow back down to normal. “Sorry about your shirt.”
He slowly pulled her away from the wall and moved her so that she could sit on a counter and he still stayed closer to her. A smile played over his face when she commented on her shirt. “I am not worried about my shirt at all. That was incredibly hot. Do you want to finish dinner or just go to the bedroom?” He would probably throw everything back into containers and into the fridge if she wanted to have another round.
She just laughed at his comment. Maybe she’d have to rip his clothing more often. Not too often though because as hot as Peeta was without a shirt he needed them for work and stuff. Shirtless Peeta could just stay in the apartment with her. Not go to the bakery. “I’m not hungry,” she commented with a smirk. She had enough human food for the day.
“But speaking of food,” she did have a small favor to ask before they headed back to the bedroom. She leaned forward and gave him a kiss first, sweet and tender not heated just yet. “I might need a pie for Thanksgiving. Know any good bakers?”
Shirtless Peeta would be more than happy to stay in the apartment with Caroline as often as she wanted. He couldn’t help but chuckle a little at the comment about not being hungry anymore, he certainly felt that way right now as well.
The kiss was returned before he let out a full laugh at her question, “Hm, I think I might know some. What kind of pie are you in the market for?” he gave her another kiss and then pulled away so he could grab the boxes of takeout and put them into the fridge, “I think I can also get you a free pie if you’re super nice to the baker.”
Caroline hopped off the counter to help him put the food away. It wasn’t fair to make Peeta do it all. “Well I’m having Thanksgiving with a bunch of vampires so obviously blood.” That was a joke. Probably a bad one but the more Peeta got used to the idea that Caroline drank blood the better. Especially now that it was in his fridge.
“Kidding,” she added just in case he had a doubt. “I don’t know. Thanksgiving flavored. Pecan? Pumpkin? Apple? You’re the expert. I trust you. Or I could always ask Audrey...” Peeta wasn’t the only baker she knew. But he would let her have a pie for free. At Baxter’s she just had her employee discount. Which wasn’t a total loss either. She placed a container of food in the fridge then turned to face him. “How nice?” she asked inching closer to him.
“No offense, Care, but a blood pie sounds absolutely disgusting,” he teased her with a smile as they continued to clean up. When she walked over to him he reached around to playfully grab her ass, “Mmm, you have to ask me. Because you have to be super nice enough to go a second round with him in the bedroom and he’ll be more than happy to give you a couple free pies. I recommend pecan and pumpkin.”
It sounded pretty gross to her too honestly. But hey at least Peeta was adjusting to the blood thing. “Well I was planning on doing that anyway so I guess I’m getting two free pies,” she laughed and then used her vampire speed to push him back into the bedroom. Yes round two included her abilities too.
