Svetlana Sergievskaya causes lyrical chess wars (thegirlisme) wrote in valarlogs,
While Svetlana appreciated the sentiment, she knew that it would be a continued risk for her parents if it wasn't done just so, which was why she said very little. She knew it was personal, there was no way it wasn't when Molokov was involved, not to mention the confrontation with Stahma a few months back as she had been digging for information. It was a long and complicated history with the family and Svetlana would deal with it as she always did.
There was nothing untoward that was being discussed, or that Svetlana could see as being discussed, so to her it made more sense to speak in English simply to keep from raising too many alarms or suspicion. If it were a more delicate conversation, then she might have stuck to Russian, as it were though? There was no need for that.
"It has been the same for me in the months I have been here." None of whom were even from America. Not the ones she had known before at any rate. Those she had met since, yes. But between Duncan, Helena and Stahma all being there with no communication or sign that their paths would cross? It was rather strange. The fact Stahma's father was in her dreams yet Stahma herself wasn't? That was also a strange matter.
"Are you? Well, the area does seem to have that effect on people." Or from what she had observed. It had to really. Why else would people stick around with all the strangeness that happened?
