Who: Clary Fray and Simon Lewis
What: Talking Vampire stuff after this
When: Backdated: Late October
Where: Clary’s place
Rating: Family Friendly
Status: Complete

After Simon’s message the other day about Dreaming of becoming a vampire, Clary had offered to talk to him about it. Part of their friendship was video-gaming and eating junk food. Today, she’d made them popcorn in the microwave and lemonade. Alright, she’d bought it and put it in the fridge, but it was as domestic as she got. Having commandeered the front room and the big tv, her mom had gone out for the evening, knowing she could trust Clary and Simon to, at least, not burn the house down. Hearing a knock, she popped the bowl on the coffee table in the front room and answered the door. “Hey, come in,” she gestured with her head, shutting the door behind him as he entered. “You ok?” she asked, leading the way to the front room, where all the food and drink was now placed.

Simon had been doing alright with the whole turning into a vampire in the dreams thing. It was still strange to think that he was no longer human or even alive really, but he was doing alright. Of course he’d only just dug his way out of his grave in the dreams so he hadn’t really gotten the full experience of being a vampire, but so far it hadn’t been fun.

When Clary suggested he come over so they could play video games and talk about the dreams, he’d agreed, figuring that the best person to talk to right now was his best friend. On the day they’d planned, he took the bus over to Clary’s, finally having figured out exactly which ones to take and where to get off, then headed up to the house Clary shared with her mother; much like in the dreams.

When Clary answered, he smiled and stepped inside, “Hey. Yeah, I’m alright. You?” It might have sounded crazy to some people, but ever since Simon had told Clary about his feelings for her, he’d felt better when he was with her. It felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders and despite the fact that those feelings were still there, they were getting less intense. They weren’t all he thought about anymore and that made hanging out with Clary better.

“Yeah, I’m ok,” Clary replied easily, closing the front door behind him as he moved into the house. She led him to the couch where the game systems and snacks were all set out and plonked herself down on one end. She tucked her feet up underneath herself and turned to face him, leaning on the arm of the couch for support. “I had another Dream last night, of a glass city where the Shadowhunters live, called Alicante in a country called Idris. Does that sound familiar?” she asked.

Simon shook his head. “Last thing that happened was me becoming a vampire.” Sometimes Simon hated that he was so far behind the others, but at the same time, he didn’t mind. The dreams were crazy enough and he had a feeling that they were only going to get crazier. “I didn’t know they were actually from another country. I’m guessing it’s like a secret country though, am I right?” If people were supposed to know about it in their dreams then surely he would have heard about it before now.

Clary winced at that. Waking up under the ground and having to dig your way out must have been indescribably awful. God knows watching it had been hard enough. “Yeah, it’s a secret place, you’re not supposed to be able to get there without special Shadowhunter-y means,” she explained. She looked up at him sympathetically. “Did you want to talk about it?”

Simon wasn’t sure where he’d thought Shadowhunters came from, but hearing that they had their own country, he wasn’t exactly surprised. “I’m guessing they don’t have direct flights there.” He adjusted his glasses as he watched Clary, “About becoming a vampire? It’s weird to think of myself as a vampire. I mean, you watch all the movies and shows and vampires are always so suave and sexy and I’m….not.” Simon wasn’t putting himself down in any way, it was just that he thought of himself as a geeky guy in a band, not a sexy, suave vampire.

“No, definitely no direct flights there,” Clary laughed a little, remembering the portal she had made to get there. True, she’d almost drowned with that trick, then nearly been driven mad by ingesting the cursed water of Lake Lyn, but she was pretty certain that there weren’t any conventional means of getting to the glass city. “I...well, you’re definitely not a regular vampire, I’ll give you that,” she joked. “That’s not a bad thing by the way, geek is chic you know,” she told him brightly.

“Yeah, but you never see any geeky vampires.” Simon shrugged and fiddled with the buttons on the game controller, “I bet the other vampires are gonna laugh at me.” And there was nothing worse than other vampires laughing at you.

“Simon, you’ve never been bothered about being different before,” Clary said softly, a little smile on her face as she did. “You’re your own kind of vampire, equally as scary in your own way,” she reassured him.

“Well, I’m glad that you have faith in my scariness.” Simon smiled and playfully hit Clary in the shoulder before leaning forward to turn on the Playstation, “Alright, enough vampire talk. It’s video game time. I’m gonna whoop your ass, Fray.” Simon was glad that if he had to have these dreams that Clary was having them too.
